ET-STAR HEALTH CORNER BRONCHIAL ASTHMA ♦ Bronchial asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that affects millions of people worldwide. It is a condition where the airways become inflamed, narrow and produce extra mucus, making it difficult to breathe. ♦ Bronchial asthma is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. People with a family history of asthma are more likely to develop the condition. ♦ Environmental factors are triggers such as air pollution, exposure to allergens like pollen grains, dust mites and animal dander, respiratory infections, intense exercise and stress can trigger asthmatic attack. ♦ Studies have shown that air pollution is a significant contributor to the development and worsening of asthma. This is because pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, ozone, and particulate matter can irritate the airways, causing inflammation and making it difficult to breathe. Additionally, exposure to second-hand smoke can also increase the risk of developing asthma. SYMPTOMS OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA The symptoms of bronchial asthma can vary from person to person, but common symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can be mild or severe and can occur at any time, making it difficult to carry out daily activities. Some people with asthma may experience symptoms only during certain times of the year, while others may have symptoms all year round. This is because different triggers can affect different people in different ways. For example, some people may only experience symptoms when they exercise, while others may have symptoms when they are exposed to certain allergens. DIAGNOSIS OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA A doctor can diagnose asthma by reviewing your medical history, performing a physical examination, and conducting lung function tests. These tests include spirometry, peak flow measurement, and bronchial provocation tests. TREATMENT OF BRONCHIAL ASTHMA The goal of asthma treatment is to control symptoms and prevent asthma attacks. ♦ Inhaled corticosteroids- reduce inflammation in the airways. ♦ Bronchodilators, which relax the muscles around the airways, ♦ Leukotriene modifiers, which reduce inflammation and relax the muscles. ♦ In severe cases, oral corticosteroids may be prescribed. In addition to medication, other lifestyle changes can also help manage asthma symptoms. For example, avoiding triggers such as pollen, dust mites, and animal dander can help reduce the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. Regular exercise can also help improve lung function and reduce the risk of asthma attacks. By : Dr. Dereje Ayele, Head Medical Unit

ET-STAR STAFF VIEW ONEDRIVE CLOUD IN ET: CLOUD COMPUTING AND ITS EXPONENTIAL BENEFITS Cloud Computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer. It has become a very useful feature of modern computing in that it streamlines resources and enhance user convenience. The basic concept of Clouds is availing an additional drive to the custom-built PC Hard disk partition like C & D, external drives like flash disk(A) or external hard disks. Unlike the above-mentioned drives, the cloud represents a remote virtual storage capacity with a much bigger space without affecting the performance of the computer. I am not sure how many are aware of ET’s existing One Cloud file hosting service operated Microsoft Company. It comes as in congruence with Microsoft 365 is a product family of productivity software, collaboration and cloudbased services. The One drive appears in your Company PC or Laptop, alongside the C, D drives. In the ET context the drive contains two folders, which are the “ONE DRIVE Ethiopian airlines’’ and “ONE DRIVE Personal”, with staggering storage spaces of 5 Terra Bytes and 5 Giga Bytes respectively. Many people didn’t notice the drive even though it is available all the time. So what does the One Drive entail for the end user and what features does it have? The fundamental functions of the One Drive fall into three categories. These are 1. STORAGE AND FILE BACK UP SPACE The storage space affords end user a file storage space up to 5 Terra Bytes, freeing the processing and storage capacity of the PC. This ensures better processing speed as the file Is stored online on the Cloud storage location instead of PC Hard disk. The fact that storage space is enhanced to 5Terra Bytes gives a much larger storage space, inbuilt drives and keep back up. It is highly unlikely for any user to reach the 5 Terra Bytes file storage limit which removes the concern of space limitation. 2. INSTANT FILE SHARING OPTIONS Files stored on the One Drive Cloud can be shared by Microsoft Outlook irrespective of file size. Microsoft Outlook allows file attachment by email only as far as file size up to 10 Mega Bytes. However, with One Drive file sharing option the end user can share a file of any size by two means ♦ Auto email the file by Microsoft Outlook ♦ Share a link that can be opened in the email body of Microsoft Outlook I have shared files up to 200 Mega Byte in size by Microsoft Outlook without any delay or inconvenience. 3. FILES AND OPERATING SYSTEM SECURITY The One Drive Cloud is a highly secure location much better than any individual computer hard disk, email system or network environment. Unless the end user shares a pathway to others to view or download, there is no way
ET-STAR for malicious attacks nor hacking attempts to reach the files. The end user can back up or recover any files in his computer in the One Drive Cloud in case any file is corrupt or lost. When the file is shared from one use to the other, both don’t have the file in their PC. They both exchange remote files that exist virtually and what they share is pathway or access. The access has various level of restriction depending on sensitivity of files or choosing entitled recipients. The levels could range from viewing access to all who get the link or access option to specific individuals only. In all cases, the receiver of file share by One Drive Cloud may read or download to keep the file. Despite the obvious benefits in every possible terms, there is a general lack of awareness on this powerful platform. All already familiar with One Drive Cloud testify to its obvious benefits. All ET family is owner of the amazing platform and highly encouraged to use it. The best part yet is that it is setting up one’s One Drive account doesn’t take any longer that any social medias platform like WhatsApp, Telegram etc. Simple steps to introduce to One Drive Cloud 1. Open the One Drive folder 2. Set up the One Drive Cloud Account 3. Create a folder and store files 4. Share files by either auto email or by sharing file link on email body Have fun setting up your One Drive and share any file size! By Mr. Bereket Balcha Manager Group Material Planning

ET-STAR LEARNING AND MOTIVATION Motivation comes from inspiration and truthfully, you cannot motivate anyone to do anything; they must do that themselves. However, you can inspire them enough to become motivated and want to do great things Leading others is a function of effectively communicating with them. If you fail to establish a relationship and regularly communicate with them, your chances of inspiring them to do anything is ZERO. Motivation is our “inner drive.” The desire or willingness that compels us to act, pursue goals, and achieve certain outcomes. It is that psychological force that energizes, directs, and sustains our behavior toward achieving specific objectives or fulfilling certain needs. As leaders, we need to tap into the “inner drive” of the people on our team to inspire them to motivation. This is required because motivation plays a crucial role in human behavior and performance. It is a driving force behind developing goals, initiating tasks, exerting effort, and persisting against challenges or obstacles. Motivation affects the intensity, direction, and duration of our actions, ultimately determining our level of engagement and achievement. This is why we need motivation. We need it for ourselves and our teams. If you want to see motivation in your organization, you must learn how to inspire it in others. Inspiring others is not about manipulating or controlling them. It’s about empowering and motivating them to reach their full potential. It’s a valuable skill that can be developed with practice and conscious effort. Here are some steps you can take to be more inspiring: 1. Grow your level of self-awareness, 2. Lead by example, 3. Improve your communication skills, 4. Get to know your people, 5. Share your vision, 6. Encourage and empower others, 7. Be positive, optimistic, authentic, and genuine. Practice these steps consistently, and over time you will become a more inspiring individual. To inspire your people to be their best, creating an environment that fosters motivation, growth, and self-belief is important. www.KeyneInsight.com
ET-STAR MORAL STORY THE ELEPHANT ROPE A gentleman was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants weren’t being kept in cages or held using chains. All that was holding them back from escaping the camp, was a small piece of rope tied to one of their legs. As the man gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused as to why the elephants didn’t just use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so, but instead, they didn’t try to at all. Curious and wanting to know the answer, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing there and never tried to escape. The trainer replied “when they are very young and much smaller, we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.” The only reason that the elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over time they adopted the belief that it just wasn’t possible. Moral of the story: No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most important step in achieving it. Source: from the internet
