How to write the essay?

▪ There is no specific format
▪ Simple essay consist of introduction, body (contents), and conclusion
▪ General topic
▪ It’s important to answers all the questions given; WH-questions

(compulsory)
▪ 120 words
▪ 20 marks
▪ 35 minutes to write

Before you start to write

1. Read the instruction and
highlight the key points.

Key points:

a) In your class, you have
been talking about
celebrations

b) Write an essay

c) About a celebration you
enjoy

Before you start to write

2. Use all the notes
given as a guideline
for you to write the
essay.

3. Answer the WH-
questions in an essay
format.

Essay format

Introduction

• Guide and attract your reader into
reading your topic.

Body (content)

• Elaborate your points
• Combine two points in the same

paragraph instead of writing it
separately.

Conclusion

• Bring together all the main points of
the essay.



Tips to answer

▪ Use the guide questions (WH-questions) to write
your essay.

▪ Use your own creativity and idea to answer it for
example, you can talk about other celebrations such
as Christmas, Chinese NewYear, Deepavali or even
Gawai Festival.

▪ Keep it short and simple. Writing a long essay will
not ensure you to get good marks because you
might tend to make a lot of grammatical errors.
