By Bailey Daniels

\Chrissy Lou Gardner was a simple

girl who lived in a simple town and
claimed many names. Though she
preferred Chrissy Lou just fine, she
found herself also being paraded as
Chrissy Lou Blue, Blue Little Lou, and
the worst- Boohoo Blue. Now you
may ask what did poor little Chrissy
Lou do to receive such poor
treatment? She smiled and laughed
and thought just the same as the
other kids so why did they give her
so many cruel nicknames?

\Yes, she giggled and grinned too,

but when she cried, rolling down
her cheeks were tears of blue!

Bluer than the sea. bluer than the

\sky, bluer than blue berry-toned hair

dye! Poor Chrissy Lou was fated to
such unfortunate circumstances! It
all started whence she was born, an
angel of blue visited her crib on the
first night she cried. Swiftly, she left
but to Chrissy she gave a unique gift.
When her parents awoke in the
morning of the following day, they
found Chrissy with stains of blue! Her
pillow marked with the sorrowful
color, and her blankets too!

As Chrissy grew up she dressed in
periwinkle dresses, sapphire skirts,
and marine moccasins. It was much
less obvious if she wore colors to
match her tears in case they were to
fall. On her third day of kindergarten,
Chrissy Lou tripped on the
playground and began to sniff…
Before she knew it a sea of cerulean
came bursting out of her eyes!

The kids stared in wonder at the
cyan drops falling from her eyes.
“Peculiar,” they all thought alike, for
she was different with her blue
crying eyes. That’s when it started,
“Chrissy Lou Blue!” and “Look at Blue
Little Lou!” And then finally one
rotten boy named Jimmy shouted,
“It’s Boohoo Blue!”

\As Chrissy grew, the silly names

began to make her less blue. She
was saddened by her spectacular
tears but she no longer cried due
to pigment of them. One day when
Chrissy was walking down the
street, she tripped and skinned
knee! She had never outgrown her
clumsy feet. So tears formed in her
eyes as she bit her lip, looking at
her injury. Suddenly a hand
appeared before her.

\A quirky looking man helped her up and

said, “The name’s Ace Maddox! Are you
alright?” Chrissy blinked for a moment
then told him, “My name is Chrissy Lou
Gardener, it’s nice to meet you. I’m
okay, thank you.” She tried for a
sheepish smile as a single tear rolled
down her cheek. Chrissy felt her face
grow hot as he stared in wonderment
at the small drop. “You have the most
beautiful blue tears, Ms. Lou,” Ace
grinned. To her surprise, Chrissy had
met someone who thought her strange
flaw made her flawless.

\As time wore on, Chrissy and Ace

became quite acquainted, and Chrissy
began to wonder why Ace had such a
particular interest in her. That was until
one day when Mr. Maddox laughed so
hard at a joke, that tears of scarlet
rolled down his cheeks. His tears were
colored too!

Chrissy and Ace soon fell in love
and one day, he put a beautiful ring
of sapphires and rubies on her
petite finger. Happily they were
wed and both cried tears of
beaming blue and radiant red.

Soon following, Chrissy had a baby!
Mr. and Mrs. Maddox smiled down
on their fussing baby girl. And
grinning at each other, they
noticed their daughter had been
crying tears of a beautiful violet
hue.
