INTRODUCTION

The main goal for the tournament is to bring together individuals of the same faith in a
competitive sport. The tournament is much more than just a tennis tournament with the goals
of fostering unity, brotherhood, competition, self-discipline, and sportsmanship.

Through participation, the belief is to teach several values including but not limited to;
Appreciation of hard work, motivation, perseverance in both winning and losing situations, a
sense of team sportsmanship, & the ability to work as a group to be the best.

FORMAT

The competition will feature two separate tournaments:

A. TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – USA vs CANADA (ALL DIVISIONS)

ROUND ROBIN COMPETITION (DAY 1 FRIDAY & DAY 2
SATURDAY)
- The sole PURPOSE of the round robin stage is to determine the TOP 4 SEEDS in each

division from each country (USA/Canada) that will progress onto the team competition to be
held during the knockout stage on Sunday.

- Each country will have 4 representatives at the start of the knockout tournament on
Sunday. For divisions where there are more than 4 U.S. teams, there will be an extra qualifier
round on Sunday morning. This will apply to INTERMEDIATE DOUBLES, LADIES and
JUNIORS GREEN DIVISIONS.
 - For divisions where there are less than 3 Canadian teams, Canadian teams will
advance to the SEMI FINAL round. 6 USA teams will advance to QUARTER
FINALS if there are 2 Canadian teams/players, or 7 USA teams/players will
advance to QUARTER FINALS if there is 1 Canadian team/player.
 - Top seed from the Canadian team will be placed in the lower bracket of
the SEMI FINAL.
 - Second seed from the Canadian team will be placed in the upper bracket
of the SEMI FINAL.

- The results of the round robin games will be used to determine the seeding for each
country, determining which players/teams qualify to the knockout rounds.

- The match fixtures were randomly based with the following exception:
 - For MEN’s and LADIES DIVISION, each Canadian team would play against
a USA team only.
 - For JUNIORS (GREEN) divisions, the Organizing team made some tweaks to
ensure competitive games for all.

- NOTE, EVERY TEAM WILL HAVE AT LEAST ONE MATCH ON SUNDAY.

JUNIORS (YELLOW & GREEN DIVISIONS)

- Each match will run for 30 MINUTES (including 5 minute warm up) on FRIDAYand 35
MINUTES (including 5 minute warm up) on SATURDAY.

- Matches will be a PRO SET OF 6 where the first player to reach 6 games wins.

Format, Rules &
Regulations CONTINUED

- There will be no “difference of two” game rule. For example: if the score is 6-5, the player
who has won 6 games wins.

- If the score is tied at 5-5, players will play a 7-point tie breaker to decide the winner.

- At the end of 30 minutes on Friday and 35 minutes on Saturday, if the match has not ended,
the player with the most number of games wins. In the event the scores are tied, players will
be allowed to play only ONE additional game to determine the winner.

- For the sake of time each game will be allowed to have TWO DEUCE POINTS. If after 2
deuce points there is no winner there will be a sudden death point to decide the winner of
the game. The receiving team can choose whether the serve is to the deuce or ad side of the
court.

MEN’S & LADIES

- Each match will run for 50 MINUTES (including 5 minute warm up) on FRIDAY and 65
MINUTES (including 5 minute warm up) on SATURDAY.

- Matches will be a PRO SET OF 8 where the first player to reach 8 games wins.

- There will be no “difference of two” game rule. For example: if the score is 8-7, the player
who has won 8 games wins.

- If the score is tied at 7-7, players will play a 7-point tie breaker to decide the winner.

- At the end of 55 minutes on Friday and 65 minutes on Saturday, if the match has not ended,
the player with the most number of games wins. In the event the scores are tied, players will
be allowed to play only ONE additional game to determine the winner.

-For the sake of time each game will be allowed to have TWO DEUCE POINTS. If after 2
deuce points there is no winner there will be a sudden death point to decide the winner of the
game. The receiving team can choose whether the serve is to the deuce or ad side of
the court.

- In this stage, players/teams will be playing for seeding for the second stage, which will be the
knockout phase.

- The player/teams with the highest number of matches won will be in 1st Place after the first
round’s competition.

- In the event of a tie in the number of matches won by player/teams in the same

robin stage, then the player/teams who won in the head to head battle gets the higher
seeding.

 - Number of Games Won: In the event that the player/teams who are tied, did not play
a head to head match, the higher number of games won by the player/team gets the
higher seed.

amount of games lost by the player/teams will be taken into consideration to determine
the seeding.
