It was on 5th September which was the beginning of
week 4. During week 4 of our lecture class, Madam
Marina continues to teach us about the second half
of chapter 2 which is about preliminary matters.
There are five preliminary matters that we had learnt
which are parties to the suit, locus standi, cause of
action, limitation period and remedies. Next, during
our tutorial class on Thursday, we discuss about
preliminary matters based on the past year
questions. Madam Marina exposed tips on answering
law based questions using the issue, law, application
and conclusion (ILAC) formula in our class. With the
discussions made, we were able to come out with a
proper answer to the question.

explained about the basis of the character of
Malaysia Constitution and even the composition

about the test as our lecturer gave us more tips on
how to answer the question correctly.

LAW 033 WEEK 9 - 10

REFLECTION

WEEK 9

We continue our week 9 with a little bit lesson in
chapter 4 which is for the unwritten sources of
law. This includes English Law, Customary Law,
Judicial Precedent and Syariah Law. We were
taught about the applications of English Law and
also the examples of customary law in Malaysia.
Beside that, we got explained about the judicial
precedent which is the decision made by the
judges of Superior Courts. The lecture in this week
was wrapped with the questions that may be
asked in test regarding this chapter. Overall, we
were explained with the sources of law available
in Malaysia with such a great detail by our
lecturer.

WEEK 10

How time flies, it’s already week 10 and near to the end of
semester. Begin the steps into DK-D2 with full of excitement to
learn new topic which was Legal Instituition. On this week, we
need to sat in front of Madam Marina and as usual there was
always nerve-wrecking facing her face. Legal Instituition is one
of the most important topic which we learn about court. As a
lawyer to be, court is like our second home and that;s why we
want to learn deeply about the court . As roughly, Malaysia
have two type of court which are superior court and
subordinate court . We had learn so many things in a period of
two hours . There are functions of each court, composition and
jurisdiction starting from magistrate court, session court, high
court , appeal court and federal court . We were also taught to
differentiate between question of facts and question of law .
Now we knew that differentiation between these two. For
sure, on tutorial class we made practice on this particular
topic because practice make perfect in order to prepare for
our final.

OUR EXPERIENCES

Overall , I really enjoyed this lecture class. I have an amazing
classmate that always helps me when I have a problem to
answer a question during a tutorial. I also have my studies
buddy that always has my back. Madam Marina also asked us to
ask her some questions about this subject. Madam Marina is
also a very supportive lecturer and I really love her. After I got
my midterm result I felt very down with my result but I am very
grateful because I have a supportive lecturer and friends. This
was a great experience that I had as a law student at UITM
Dengkil. I will surely miss Dengkil and my dear friends here
later. I also want to say thank you to Madam Marina for
teaching me from nothing to someone that now has
knowledge about this subject.

At the beginning of the era being a foundation student. Subject
Malaysia Legal System always being noted where I think ‘ This
topic maybe about how legal system in Malaysia works . I need
to work harder on this’ . To be brutally honest, I was scared about
other classmates and always overthink that they are too brilliant
in legal general knowledge. Flashback my memories when Azri
declared that he know about article 153 , I was very impressed
.How come he know about he know ? I take this kind of thing as
motivation to work more extra in my studies. During midterm, I
put 100% efforts into the questions. By using ILAC formula and
contents in my brain, I managed to nailed the test. Luckily, I have
Madam Marina as a lecturer, even though she made us nerve-
wrecking in every classes but she was so kind . She make sure we
have fully understanding in all topics. Not forgetting my beloved
classmates and groupmates who fully participate on
assignments and hustle together to get the most excellence
result. With that, I thank you.

Based on what I experienced, the whole learning process was fun and exciting.
However, I cannot run from the fact that the process of learning law is sometimes
tiring. There were times when we got very confused with our assignments because
we didn't know how to start the assignments and that is the time where Madam
Marina guided us by explaining the ways to do the assigments given during our
tutorial class. Apart from that, there was a time that I burnt out and had a mental
breakdown. I felt so overwhelmed by the feeling especially a week before my
midterm exam. To be frank, I felt so disappointed with myself for not performing my
midterm exam. However, I felt so grateful for having an amazing friends especially
my study buddies and my best friend from Sarawak that help me to get through it.
We struggle through ups and downs together and always have each other's back
when things get tough and I also wanted to thanks my lecturers for always giving
motivational words to us and always being supportive with us. I need to be strong
and have faith in myself that I can excel this course and be successful in the future
and I understand that this is just the beginning of my uni life and I still have a long
way to go. Plus, living far away from my family was hard and tough since they
always support me physically when things get hard. I promise to myself that I will
make them proud and be strong each day. As the time goes by, I need to move on
and handle my mental health well. I hope me and my friends can strive tog
ether in
our journey and gain more memories together. Lastly, I would like to give a big
thanks to Madam Marina for making this subject fun and interesting, it is one of my
favorite subject. I will surely miss my first semester journey in UiTM Dengkil.

The whole learning session was really fun even though I got
sleepy sometimes. Our lecturer’s demeanor is very
comforting and she’s got a great sense of humor too. About
life at university, the first few weeks were very difficult for
me to adjust to because it was hard for me to make friends
and start a conversation with new people and it took me
quite a long time to get rid of my homesickness. But
alhamdulillah everything went well as we always support
and helped each other when doing our group assignments.
I’m very grateful for all the experience I got here especially
the new knowledge from Madam Marina and other lecturers
too and I would love to create more memories with my
friends and lecturers in this short time which I’m sure will be
more meaningful for me.
