guys, I’d spent time helping my Dad around the house with his carpentry and
Back in the late eighties I had a sudden realization that changed my life. Like lots of
home reno projects. It was during one of those DIY-filled afternoons, that the end cap
came off of the multi-bit screwdriver I was using (remember the orange ones with bits
rattling around inside?). The bits flew in every which direction, ending up under boards,
sawdust and building materials. Not a joyous moment at all.
I’d never been one to shrink from a problem and this pesky screwdriver was definitely a
problem to be solved. I knew there had to be a better way and from that moment, I was

inspired to make something better.
I literally knew nothing about inventing, prototyping and manufacturing, and maybe it was
my ignorance that allowed me to dive in with such gusto. My early sketches and clunky
prototypes helped me land some investors and eventually, I was able to hire an industrial
design firm. Twelve months, four designs and three prototypes later, we had the very first

Megapro Multibit Screwdriver, the Original 15 in 1.
Early sales and marketing efforts proved successful and we were blessed with sales
right out of the gate. Soon, awareness of this cool new screwdriver grew. Magazines and
newspapers like the Vancouver Sun and Popular Science wrote about us. We even had
some television appearances. The local paper wrote about the little screwdriver company
that was taking the country’s tool boxes by storm. And the orders came from far and
wide. In fact, by 1997 we were exporting to Germany as well as selling in domestic


markets. The train had definitely left the station!
Over the last 25 years we developed variations of the screwdriver for specialty trades and
industry segments and our reputation grew. Hardworking people everywhere appreciated

our attention to detail and our solid, North American-made quality.
We’ll never be everybody’s tool company, but those who know us, trust us to deliver the
sort of tools that work as hard as they do. And that’s a trust we never take for granted.
