Editor’s Note Creating an interesting, informative, and easyto-read e-magazine article is something that every publication needs to know, regardless of their specific themes and topics. Usually, a magazine article can discuss trending topics and themes, or more specific ones such as geography, cuisine, fashion, music, and other fields in interest. Nonetheless, all of these magazine articles need to abide by the principle of writing the latest events in order to make the readers interested with the recent events. Furthermore, an e-magazine article sometimes needs to include interviews with the interviewees to get the most accurate information. Editor’s Note A digital magazine, also known as an electronic magazine or e-magazine, is very similar to its print counterpart, but it is published in a digital format rather than being printed on paper. It can be read on a mobile phone, laptop, tablet and computer. A digital magazine can take advantage of digital technology and add animations and links within the magazine to make it more informative or aesthetically better. moreover, The cost of printing is eliminated and the publishing price is greatly reduced, so most digital magazines do not require the same amount of advertising that print magazines do. In addition,A print magazine cannot include a link that a reader clicks to visit a website, but a digital magazine can. Alia Nazihah BPJ230510116 V A C A T I O N M A G A Z I N E | 0 2
Editor’s Note A digital magazine — otherwise known as an online magazine or, once upon a time, an e-magazine — is a magazine that has been published digitally using the web or an app. Unlike print magazines, digital magazines can include links, more high-resolution images, video, audio, and web animations. They can also take advantage of cheaper and potentially wider distribution than print magazines. Digital magazines have been embraced by a diverse array of organisations, from corporates and universities, to non-profits and more traditional magazine publishers. These electronic versions are similar to traditional magazines in that they publish periodically and include stories, illustrations or photos, and usually advertisements. PULAU BABI BESAR M E R S I N G , J O H O R In our country, one of the island groups that are often the focus of tourists is in Mersing district in Johor. From the cluster of islands found in Mersing, one of them is an island called Pulau Besar. But, outsiders may not know, this island is better known as PIG ISLAND by the local community. It is said that in ancient times, there was a couple who were fishermen living here. The pregnant wife wants to eat seaweed. However, after eating the weed, the wife turned into a mermaid. Because his wife was too angry to change her appearance, the husband released his anger by cursing the island by calling it 'pig' repeatedly. So, the name 'Pig Island' stuck. It is from this story that the island got its name and the name is still used to this day. Whether the story is authentic or not cannot be ascertained. However, the story is popular and told by word of mouth by the people around the area. V A C A T I O N M A G A Z I N E | P A G E 1 5
