Charity Tree House Project

Cambria were involved in the design of a
new childrens playground area/treehouse
on the site of the newly built Ronald
McDonald House at University Hospital
of Wales, Cardiff. The treehouse was
designed with Austin-Smith:Lord Architects
as part of Contractor Willmott Dixon’s
charity programme.

The brief was to design an outdoor area for the children being treated at the
Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital and the
neo-natal intensive care unit at the
hospital.

The timber frame treehouse play
area was constructed over a period
of two weeks by groups of volunteers
using as many recycled materials
from the Ronald McDonald House
building as possible.
