“ You see kids specialize in golf. I think that’s wrong. To
play all sports is great. I played everything. I think that kids
should be playing everything, doing everything. Eventually,
if you want to specialize in something, that’s fine. But go
out and enjoy, and be happy to play other things.”

Mission Statement
Our junior golf coaches recognize their role is to engage and
inspire children to participate in the sport of golf. Our coaches
are “referees” for child development through the sport of golf.
They create a stimulating and dynamic learning environment,
then supervise and support the children as they play in age
appropriate activities. These activities are specifically designed
for skills acquisition and personal development.
Our primary focus is on creating a safe, fun and nuturing
environment where children are motivated to want to come
back and learn more.

Junior Golf Performance Academy
Our intention is to create a golf environment that is fun, first and foremost! It
is important to note that we are teaching children, not golf; and that we are
assisting the development of your child through the sport of golf.
Using the LTAD (Long Term Athletic Development Model), we use an approach
that focuses on having athletes perform age-appropriate skill acquisition drills,
to maximize their athletic potential. The drills get progressively more
complicated and more specialized as the athlete develops, reaching the next
level of development.
In this curriculum, 4 key areas will be emphasized to enhance learning
opportunities, and to develop the necessary skills to become more complete
athletes who also have knowledge of the rules and etiquette that will prepare
them for this game of a lifetime.
• Sportsmanship, Rules & Etiquette
• Golf Skills
• Fitness & Nutrition
• Golf & “Near Golf” Experiences
Along with these key areas, 4 levels will provide the proper environment for
learning:
• Player
• Sport
• Champion
• EDP Level 1 & 2

PGA Junior League
The Basics
At its core, PGA Junior League Golf is a group of local golf teams who play a series of
games against each other, utilizing a nurturing and social scramble format. The program
is available to boys and girls, 13 and under, of all abilities. PGA Professionals exclusively
serve as Captains and are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all that
encourages skill and character development.
Schedule
The regular season of PGA Junior League Golf occurs between June and August. For those
players that advance to the Post-Season of PGA Junior League Golf, those games begin in
August. Depending on the number of teams in our local league, our regular season games
will take place on Sunday afternoons or evenings.
League
A league is made up of local teams within our geographic area, minimizing the distance
and amount of time spent commuting between games. Our league will have between four
to seven teams and will consist of teams from a collection of facilities. During the course
of the regular season, our team will play a game against each team in our league.
Game
A game is played between two teams. During the course of a game, four matches are
played by at least two players from each team against each other. The total number of
points won within all matches determines the winner of the game. Friends, family and
spectators are encouraged to attend and watch - but not participate or aid - each game!
Captains
A PGA captains each PGA Junior League Golf team or league! Our golf professionals are
uniquely positioned to create an inviting and welcoming environment for all to enjoy the
game of golf. They also provide critical instruction to help young participants advance both
their golf skill and character development - on and off course.
Team
A team is a collection of eight to twelve players, boys and girls of any ability, who work
together during the course of a game against another team. Each team is Captained and
instructed by a PGA Professional and may have the administrative assistance of a parent
volunteer/coach to assist in the administration of team business.
