a “front room,” in addition to the living room. The front room
was not someplace for us kids to play. It was kept especially
clean and used only for special occasions—typically adult-
only gatherings, usually stuffy, or where salesmen or other
special visitors were “entertained.” I soon learned that to be
in the front room meant that Mom and Dad were not wholly
comfortable with you. Once you became a friend, then you
were invited in to the kitchen table, and that is where the fun
happened. In addition to eating, we played games, talked, did
homework, had fun parties, and generally hung around long
after the meal. This was the family gathering place.

The Dining Room celebrates those families that had a room Book by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg

Ash Dockry* is thrilled to be welcomed into
the La Crosse Community Theatre family.
Although she is new to the area, theatre has
always been a part of her life. Favorite roles

include Helena from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and various
roles in The Vagina Monologues. Ash would like to thank her

NOAH GREENBERG* has not always had a
spark for acting. He played football throughout
middle school and high school as a defensive
end. Eventually, however, Noah realized that it

was acting, and not football, in which he really shined. Being
new to La Crosse and at his fourth high school, Noah felt lost
until a Central High School teacher referred him to La Crosse
Community Theatre. Noah is making his LCT debut.

JIM NELSON is excited to do a show in the
Weber Center.“It is exhilarating to act in a space
like the Black Box theatre, where the audience is
so close to the stage.”Jim’s scrap-booking days

are over, however, good memories he still retains are the
portrayals of Officer Lockstock in Urinetown, Elwood P. Dowd
in Harvey, and Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird.

MADI RADTKE is a sophomore at Onalaska
High School. She is active in Visual Arts Classic,
art club, the Ona Ink school newspaper, OHS
drama club, is a volunteer at LCT, and is an

employed barista. Art and music are her passions. She also
spends large amounts of time on the“interwebs.”

A 50th Anniversary Tribute to Past Shows

The
Dining
Set…

Whether in your formal dining room consisting of a table and chairs for eight or

more, two to six chairs around a smaller table in your kitchen, or simply stools
around your kitchen counter, it’s where people gather to enjoy great food, the
camaraderie of family and friends, and share events in their lives. The dining set
in our production of “The Dining Room” holds special meaning for me. You see,
my brother, Michael Howe, redecorated his home and donated the set to LCT.

During many holidays and assorted family gatherings, this beautiful table was

always covered with fabulous food, delicious desserts, and a wide variety of fine
wines. Conversations covered multiple events in the lives of those who sat
around this table, and cherished memories remain of those no longer with us
who shared breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. It is now a very special occasion
for me to see the set in the home of my theatre family. May it continue to be a
part of future “family gatherings” in its new home. Thank you, Michael!!

Whether you have a formal dining room or kitchen nook or wherever you enjoy

your family and friends, I hope you’ve built, and continue to build, cherished
memories. Here, for your enjoyment, we present memories of past productions
with themes around family and dining. Thank you for spending a special evening
in and sharing experiences of the unique characters of “The Dining Room.”
