OAk ridge COuntry Club Dear Oak Ridge Members,

Sue Johnson
Service Manager call to the membership. Over the last year, we have had a very interesting dynamic take
Kim Trzpuc place…The surge in new memberships has created a demographic shift where our largest
Catering Director population is that of children under the age of 10. Oak Ridge Road is busy, our parking
Tim Jones lot is busy, the pool is busy, golf is busy…I think you get the message. Safety will always
Executive Chef be #1. When arriving at or leaving the club, please proceed with care through the lots and

Executive Sous Chef hood and as you leave, the hill to the left provides a brief but challenging obstacle. While
Ryan Zynda at the Club, in the parking lot or at the Pub patio, please be watchful for golf carts and
Sous Chef pedestrians. With record rounds of golf to be played, it only stands to reason that there will

Director of Golf followed and are competent to enter and swim. Our lifeguards are the second line of
Eric Speck defense! Tennis has also seen record growth in their programming. Be watchful in their
Head Golf Professional parking lot as well. Lastly, in and around the clubhouse, please keep an eye on your
Jeff Crouch kiddos. It can be challenging, but we need to ask that children are not left unattended in
Assistant Golf Professional any area of the clubhouse, tennis courts or on the golf course. This is the best practice in

•NEW tee markers and scorecards with current ratings! Handicap allocations will be looked at for the 2023 season.

•Handicap Policy - All members playing in a League or Club Events must have a handicap in GHIN for posting
scores.

The goal of the World Handicap System is to make golf more enjoyable by enabling golfers of all abilities to compete
on an equitable basis. The Golf Committee requires all members to report scores, both home and away. It encourages
all members to assist in this effort by reminding their playing partners to turn in their scores as well. The Golf Shop staff
is available at any time to assist the members in this process.

*Note: Scores can be posted from April 1 to October 31.

All golfing competitions at Oak Ridge Country Club shall require a current handicap. A current handicap is defined as
having at least 5 rounds posted on GHIN within the prior 12 months preceding the competition handicap cutoff date.

Posting less than 80% of all 9/18-hole scores will be considered a breach of handicap Integrity and the handicap will
be considered invalid. Rounds played vs. Scores posted will be monitored randomly and routinely among event medal-
ists. If playing by yourself, please ask the Golf Shop Staff to check the NO POST box on ForeTees.
*First problem = reminder/warning.

•Pace of Play Policy - The Golf Professionals have been charged with ensuring that pace of play is maintained for
the enjoyment of all our members. It is the responsibility of each player in the group to play in a timely fashion.

Groups of four golfers have the right of way. They need not yield to matches with lesser numbers unless they lose posi-
tion by reason of slow play.

Starting on the 10th tee is prohibited unless permission to do so is received from the Golf Professional or the Starter.
All groups are expected to maintain a good pace of play by staying immediately behind the group in front of them, not
immediately in front of the group behind them.

The Golf Committee expects players to complete an 18-hole round within 4 hours, if later, within 10 minutes of the
group immediately in front of them. Should a group fail to meet this standard, the Golf Staff will warn all members
involved, to encourage faster play by playing ready golf. If a group fails to respond to two such requests the Golf Pro-
fessional may require the group to proceed to the next tee. If by the end of the round there has not been an effort to
improve pace of play, a letter will be sent to all members in the group. If there is a recurrence, it will be reported to the
Golf Committee.

*Any fivesomes will be expected to maintain the 4-hour pace of play.

*Golf Aerification will be Monday, May 2nd

With the recent warm up, we have had a pretty good melt off of the snow and we were able to start
seeing the turf. It looks really good and spring golf is right around the corner. It feels like the majority
of the snow will be gone here very shortly but we are still a few weeks away from the frost completely
leaving the soil. It won’t be long till we are back open. I took a few pics walking the course recently
and thought I’d give you a glimpse of the course as it thaws from the long winter.
