HARLAN’S LABOR O

What brought about the creation of
the D2L training series?

Kentrie LeDee Fontenot, Director of COTE,
asked me to deliver some D2L training
for Faculty Return Week. She had been
asked by faculty to have the various sup-
port resources consolidated for them and
presented to them, a guidance she passed
on to me. They were initially only going to
be four—one topic for each day of Faculty
Return Week. But I wanted to enlarge the
selections, so I made it two per day.

How did you come up

with the topics? Harlan Williams

line and there is an

er assigned to each
campus, and we communicate with each
other often. I initially polled my colleagues for
ideas, which were primarily centered on D2L

support. But I wanted to expand my training

offerings, to go beyond the limits of just D2L, and include broader topics

of instructional design.

How did you come up with the content?

Each webinar is a PowerPoint I’ve developed. These presentations are primarily
based upon the job aids in the Virtual Teaching Assistance Center (VTAC) knowledge
base, albeit expanded and fleshed out with original research and experience.
