A staggering number of twenty one students from Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi, have been selected to participate in the internationally acclaimed Global Final of "STEM AHEAD" 2023, which will be held in Indonesia from December 7 to 11, 2023. AMERICAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD One of our remarkable students, Areesh Akbar Ali, represented Pakistan in the Global Finale of the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) held in Singapore. The competition was no less than an international intellectual battlefield with over 2500 participants from all over the world concentrating the best of their abilities for one singular goal. In this highly competitive olympiad, only through his brilliantly profound mathematical skills, unwavering dedication and utmost diligence did Areesh manage to secure the much coveted Bronze Medal in Mind Sports. SEEDS OF PEACE CAMP, USA ILHAM KARIM GOMATI DEEPAK SYEDA KHADIJA Gomati Deepak Kumar of AKHSS Kharadhar says "Seeds of Peace in Maine taught me leadership, teamwork, and boosted my confidence. The concept of dialogue transformed me and my perspectives. It's an honor to be part of this incredible journey.” Syeda Khadeja Shuja of AKHSS Karachi says "This camp was a dream come true. I faced fears, made unforgettable memories, and learned the power of dialogue. Seeds of Peace reignited my dreams and showed me I can achieve them." AKESP holds great pride that three of our exceptional students Syeda Khadija Shuja, Ilham Karim and Gomati Deepak Kumar attended the Seeds of Peace Camp, a non-profit organization working with youth aged 14-17 with the intention of fostering peace and ending generations-old conflicts, from July 27, 2023, to August 15, 2023, in Otisfield town, Maine, U.S.A. They spent the summer sharing a space with brilliantly astute young minds from across the world learning much about global engagement and cultural exchange.It's a testament to their dedication and passion for global cooperation that they journeyed from Karachi to the United States of America, demonstrating commendable commitment to making the world a more interconnected and harmonious place. PRIME MINISTER NATIONAL INNOVATION AWARD Aga Khan Higher Secondary School takes immense pride in the fact that one of the distinguished members of our student body, Hafsa Khalid made it to the top 50 in the Prime Minister National Innovation Award. Along with this, she secured a cash prize of 0.5 Million (5 lakhs) in the National Finals at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad. The competition gathered the best innovative business ideas from all across Pakistan. Out of a staggering number of 12,000 applications, only 256 were shortlisted. Teachers’ AI Conference Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi successfully hosted an insightful conference on artificial intelligence and Education 4.0: Empowering Minds, Shaping the Future on July 15. It was an informative exchange of ideas that brought together over 120 lecturers and teachers from across various Aga Khan schools including Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi, Hyderabad, and Kharadar, Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan School, and Aga Khan School, Garden and Hafizabad. Distinguished speakers shared their insights and experiences, exploring the intricate relationship between artificial intelligence and education. Leading experts in the fields of education, computer technology, finance, and commerce, such as Dr. Farid Panjwani, Dr. Shehzad Jeeva, Mr. Azhar Nawaz, Dr. Imran Amin, Mr. Mahboob Mahmood, Mr. Rooshan Aziz, Ms. Aliya Zehra, and Ms. Nighat Shaheen graced the college with their presence and knowledge, culminating in an exceedingly fruitful and productive session. Global Ismaili CIVIC Day's mission of civic engagement, social responsibility, and positive change resonated undoubtedly with the ambitious student body of Aga Khan Higher Secondary School, Karachi. On Global Ismaili CIVIC Day, more than 400 students from different parts of Pakistan converged their expertise and participated in “Trivia 4.0" , with the theme of "Energy and Water Conservation." To commemorate Independence day, AKHSS Karachi organized a celebration at the school. The event was captivating and patriotic, filled with life, resounding music and an atmosphere brimming with the spirit of freedom. The event featured energetic student performances, moving speeches and engaging activities leaving students with a powerful and memorable tribute to Pakistan's independence. 14th AUGUST CELEBRATION The sash distribution ceremony for the student council also took place along with the celebration. NAAT COMPETITION In order to honor the birth of our Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), a Naat Competition was organized at AKHSS. This event stood as a splendid homage to the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The proceeding commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by the euphonious Naat recitation by the participants. This event demonstrated profound reverence and deep devotion of our students towards the Prophet (PBUH). RESEARCHATHON Over 226 innovative and well executed projects Over 2000 students from 29 prestigious schools in Karachi. The projects, spanning a diverse range of categories such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, and Ecopreneurship, captivated the audience with their creativity and inventiveness. The CEO of the Aga Khan University Examination Board, Dr. Shehzad Jeeva, commenced the event on the first day, while the global Head of Academic Programs for the Aga Khan Education Services, Ms. Atifa Sayani, honored the event as chief guest on the 2nd day, and shared her admiration for the students' curiosity and creativity. The 2-day celebration of scientific achievement concluded with the best projects in different categories being awarded prizes in order to encourage students to thrive in achieving excellence and excel in their pursuit of knowledge and innovation. TUG OF WAR The boys team of class M-6 won the tournament after a very intense match against class E-1. CHAMPIONSHIP The tug of war competition was fierce. Teams of determined students faced off with reddened resolve on their faces. There was obvious tension and each team gave it their all by cheers from the sidelines. Each class fielded its best team for the futsal tournament's opening match, taking place between the first and second year classes. The fast paced action-packed games featured beautiful goals, skillful passes, and amazing dribbling. Each goal seemed like a huge accomplishment because of the energetic crowd support. The competitiveness intensified throughout the tournament but ultimately class EE-1 won after a highly electric match against class EM-9 (in the boys category) and class EM-2 reigned victorious over class EM-7 (in the girls category).The students showed outstanding sportsmanship by congratulating each other on wins and offering support after losses. Each and every game was incredibly intense with the fortunate winning by the barest of margins. A healthy competition was observed where each class fervently supported its players. The final match was truly a nail biting contest where Rahim of class M9 secured a staggering victory over his formidable opponent.
