Gaylord Archival, A New Beginning

As I interact with professionals throughout all of the institutions we
serve, I’m constantly reminded of the critically important work you
perform in preserving and sharing our collective history throughout
the world. We take your mission seriously and, as such, rededicated
our focus this past year to ensure you receive the highest quality
archival and museum products we can offer.

Because your challenges are unique, our in-house product engineers
are constantly working to design and develop new solutions to meet
your needs. We handcraft the majority of our preservation products
at our headquarters in Syracuse, ny, which means we can respond
quickly to your ideas and requests.

Perhaps the most exciting development in 2015 was our partnership
with Frank Europe, a group of incredible innovators and the creators
of the patented Frank Showcase System. This demountable show-
case ships flat, is easy to assemble, offers endless customization
options, and addresses many of the challenges that go along with
showcase selection and mobility. It’s the perfect addition to our
already extensive line of exhibit and display products.

We’re excited about everything we’ve accomplished together thus
far and want to thank you for helping to make our first year as
Gaylord Archival a resounding success. Our entire team is equally

This year’s cover celebrates the work of leonardo da vinci, the transcendent Renaissance man
whose many interests included inventing, engineering, literature, science, sculpture and painting,
to name but a few. His most famous work—the most famous work of art in history—the Mona Lisa,
has piqued the curiosity of generation after generation with her enigmatic smile.

The term “acid-free” is not used in relation to plastics.
The terms “inert” and “stable” are used to describe
plastics that can be safely used in preservation.

What does “mil” refer to?

Mil is one thousandth of an inch and refers to the
thickness of the plastic. For example, something that
is 4 mil = .004" thick.
