COMERON HIGHLAND
TANAH TINGGI CAMERON
The Cameron Highlands (Malay: Tanah
Tinggi Cameron, Chinese: 金馬崙高
原, Tamil: கேமரன் மலை) is
a district in Pahang, Malaysia, occupying
an area of 712.18 square kilometres
(274.97 sq mi). To the north, its boundary
touches that of Kelantan; to the west, it
shares part of its border with Perak.
Situated at the northwestern tip of
Pahang, the "Camerons" is approximately
90 kilometres (56 mi) from Ipoh, roughly
200 kilometres (120 mi) from Kuala
Lumpur or about 355 kilometres (221 mi)
from Kuantan, the capital of Pahang. It is
the smallest municipality in the state.
One of the most iconic attractions in
Cameron Highlands, the Sungei Palas
Tea Garden offers a holistic tea
experience against a beautiful backdrop
of undulating tea fields as for as the eye
can see. BOH acquired the Sungei Palas
Tea Garden in the 1950’s. At the time,
the land was in a dire state and a far cry
of what it is today. However, BOH’s then
Chairman, Tristan Russell, saw the
potential of Sungei Palas and over the
years turned the ailing land into a lush
tea garden recognisable across Malaysia
and by international travellers.
In 2019, the visitor centre was
expanded to include a new section.
Aptly dubbed Tristan’s Terrace, the new
section has a seating capacity of 200
people with a gorgeous panoramic
view, which only enhancing the unique
hospitality experience and tea-drinking
pleasures BOH offers.
A very nice place for vacation. No entrance
fee here and you can see a variety of
colourful flowers, cactus, strawberries and
vegetables in this farm. If you're a plant
lover, you can buy some small potted
flowers or cactus at a reasonable price.
Besides the strawberry ice-cream is also
tasty.
Flowers are one a popular produce
of Cameron Highlands mainly
because of the cool weather which
makes it perfect to grow these
beautiful plants. If you are in
Cameron Highlands, you will notice
a lot of flower nurseries around
here which you can visit and buy
some as well.
