Newsletter

Another year of magna aude at Elvin

We’ve had a wonderful year here at Elvin and our pupils, teachers and all members of the community have
really demonstrated our values. This newsletter is our way of rounding off an excellent year of achievement,
by showcasing events over this half term that reflect each of our values: integrity, courage, community,
mastery. Thank you to all parents for their support and feedback. We’re very much looking forward to
working with you again in the Autumn term. Don’t forget when we are looking forward to welcoming you
and your child back to school. – the dates are on the back of this newsletter.
Let me end the year by saying a massive well done and congratulations to the house who have won the
house cup. Last year we ended the year with Angelou winning the cup, this year it has gone to Malala
House.

Best wishes,

Attendance

The pupils below have had 100% attendance all year, since September. This means they have not taken a
single day – or even a morning or afternoon – off for any reason. No holidays, sickness days, medical
appointments at all!

Courage

A Night at the Theatre

On 13th July, a group of pupils put on a fantastic performance of ‘A Night at the Theatre’, a selection of
scenes and musical numbers from classic West End shows. It was the culmination of many, many hours of
hard work and performances, and it showed in a really excellent production. Well done to all involved!

Community

This year the school community has raised over £2,200 for our chosen charity partners, with most of this
going to the local Sufra food bank. Fundraising included a number of staff and pupils doing a sponsored 10k
run, sales of refreshments at the Night at the Theatre performance, International Day, a charity boxing
match between Mr Lumsden and Mr Jackson, and entry in the First Give competition.

First Give Competition

Year 9 pupils competed to win up to £1000 from First Give for their chosen charity, by giving a presentation
on their selected cause. In total, £1500 was awarded to the charities after some excellent pitches.
