Letter From The Dean
Dear Partners and Community,
The Gustavson School of Business is fortunate to have a growing
group of student organizations that seek to advance the visions
and goals of our school.
We take immense pride in the amazing work our students do
both inside and outside of the classroom. From our Commerce
Students Society (CSS) to the Young Women in Business
organization, the UVic Consulting Group and our many case
competition teams, student-run organizations bring tremendous
value to the dynamic learning environment we have at
Gustavson.
Our school’s vision and approach is founded on four pillars that
underpin everything we do: international, integrative, innovative
and sustainable/socially responsible. Our student organizations
are a key part of developing that vision. As Gustavson grows, I
know our student organizations will continue strengthening the
link between our school and the business community, through
more events, workshops, consulting projects, co-ops and
participation in competitions here and around the world.
As a partner to our students, you support a community of
engaged and passionate students who are keen to connect and
develop professionally. Whether you are starting new
relationships or developing existing ones, you are contributing to
our student’s success.
On behalf of Gustavson and our diverse group of student
organizations, we thank you for your support.

Greater Victoria
Businesses Banquet
The Greater Victoria annual business banquet is one of the Commerce Students’ Society most
prestigious and longest-running events. With over 250 guests, Gustavson students, faculty and staff
join local business representatives and founders to enjoy an evening of fine dining and inspiring
presentations. Banquet attendees can expect to meet and network with one another in a formal
business setting, where a sense of community and growth is strong. Along with ticket sales, all
proceeds from silent auctions are donated to a local charity.
This most significant event of the year is an opportunity to showcase your organization, and speak
about your values with a diverse and expansive business community. This is a perfect opportunity to
show support, and gain recognition from students across the Gustavson School of Business. This event
is well known and highly anticipated across Victoria businesses and is a memorable event for all
involved. We hope to see you there.

Five Days for
the Homeless
Five Days for the Homeless is a national campaign that
challenges university students to forego the comforts of their
home for five days to address youth homelessness in Canada.
Each year across the country, 20 universities, including the
University of Victoria, participate in events to increase awareness
about homelessness and raise funds for local initiatives and
charities.
The dedicated community outreach team at the CSS is
comprised of seven talented individuals who are passionate about
giving back to the community. Through their work with 5 Days,
they hope to inspire other students and the community at large
to help alleviate an issue that is so prevalent. After raising close
to $8000 in the spring of 2022, the CSS has set a goal to raise
$10,000 in 2023.
I N S U P P O R T O F
