A very Good morning, ladies and
gentlemen,

I hope everyone here is safe and well.
First of all, my heartfelt thanks to the Federation of
Christian Mission Schools Malaysia (FCMSM) for having
me to be part of the 26th National SPM Bible Knowledge
Quiz Semi-finals and Finals 2022.

Congratulations to FCMSM for continuously dedicating
time and energy as well as steadfast determination to
organise, plan, prepare and execute the quizzes.
Furthermore, this also increases the number of students
participating in the quizzes which I am sure was
challenging amidst a devastating pandemic. I believe
there were challenges faced in conducting a
national-level event but I’m happy and impressed how
well everyone adapted themselves to the situation and
came up with solutions and ideas.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As we all know, Bible Knowledge is a Sijil Pelajaran
Malaysia (SPM) elective subject endorsed by the MOE and
Examination Syndicate. Sadly, the number of schools and
students taking the subject had decreased to about 500
candidates in the 1980s as it was no longer regarded as a
compulsory subject to be taught in schools. In 1993, Bible
Knowledge was no longer in the Form 3 examination. The
number continued to drop to 200 candidates to the point

that in 1994 it was taken out of SPM and listed as a Sijil Am
Pelajaran (SAP) subject. In 1995, Bible Knowledge was
re-instated as an SPM subject with 20 candidates. It peaked in 2009
and 2010 with 1000+ candidates. Now it has an average of 350
candidates per year.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Bible Knowledge is a paper on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as
found in the Gospel of Luke and the founding of the early Church as found
in the Acts of the Apostles. In addition, it has made such a great
contribution to humanity which is a good guide for young minds. The young
ones who take up the subject will learn to remain strong and resilient in
their faith as they grow up in the school. Also, it helps students to brush up
on their English given that the papers and exams are all conducted in a
global language of communication.

I wish to congratulate the students who have reached the Semi-finals and
finals of the 26th National SPM Bible Knowledge Quiz 2022. May your
knowledge of the Bible stay with you throughout your lives and be a part in
your daily life.

For students who are not able to make it to the semi-finals and finals,
congratulations for you have devoted yourselves to studying the Bible,
making the effort to prepare yourselves for the quizzes. Having Bible
Knowledge as an extra curriculum activity helps in student development
and builds a strong foundation in their faith.

The ministry greatly appreciates the work and effort put in by
non-government organisations like the FCMSM. Good luck to the finalists
and may God bless you all in this 26th National SPM Bible Knowledge Oral
Quiz 2022.

FCMSM “ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with
grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16).
The year 2021 marked the 25th National SPM Bible
Knowledge Quiz conducted for students in Malaysia.
To the people who have started this humble project
in the beginning to inculcate the love of God through
His words, peace be with them. The year 2022 and
the years beyond will give us more opportunity to
share the joy of knowing God’s love through his
words.
I would like to thank all the wonderful people who
persevered during the hard and trying times when
we faced the Covid19 pandemic lockdown for coming
up with a new platform in organising the Quiz. This
has helped us to reach more students than before.

On behalf of the organising committee, I would like
to thank all the sponsors who contributed in kind
to help us fund this project. To all students who
are participating in the quiz in various formats,
may you find joy in the quiz. I do hope you will
share the same kind of testimonies as other
students have done in the past to your friends so
that they share the same joy too.
I am happy to take this opportunity to announce

prepare for the quiz as FCMSM has posted on its
website 20 video lessons carefully prepared for
you by Miss Moey. Kudos to her and her team as
they are in the process of preparing more.

KATHLEEN AGNES I remember taking up Bible Knowledge simply
NGUI SHEUT because I saw it as something I should do as a Christian. I
CHING didn’t know at that time nor was I curious as to whether or
not it would be a tough subject. But overall, I would say that
SM Sung Siew, BK is an easy subject to score good grades as long as you
Sandakan, are consistent in doing revision. I am very thankful that I
Sabah. was able to score ‘A’ in SPM 2020. All glory to God!

Bible Knowledge has enabled me to learn more
about God’s Word. It is more than memorising the texts.
Bible Knowledge has helped me, as a Christian, to grow in
my faith as well as keep me close to God.

As Christian students, we are all encouraged to
take BK as an additional subject. Especially with how fast
times are changing, it will help us keep to our faith. If you
are hesitant about taking BK as an additional subject, please
don’t be. You will find that Bible Knowledge can help you in
more ways than one.

My journey with Bible Knowledge (BK) started in NG KEI CHEONG
Form 4, 2019, when I was encouraged by one of my church
members to take it for SPM. I gladly accepted this as a SM Sung Siew,
challenge and as an opportunity to glorify God. Sandakan,
Sabah.
To me at that time, taking BK was just about
getting another ‘A’ in SPM. However, as time progressed,
I realized that learning about God’s Word and treasuring
it was more important than grades. Furthermore, by
taking up BK, I have also developed a habit of reading the
Bible daily.

I really appreciate my dedicated BK teacher, Miss
Yap, for her teaching skills and support that kept us
motivated to study hard and study smart. I am also
grateful for the opportunity given by my school to study
BK.

BK has given me an insight into the Bible as I have
learnt not to be satisfied with the literal meaning of
parables and the interesting stories, but to dive deeper
into the truth of God’s Word. It is undeniable that studying
Luke and Acts has made a difference in my life. Praise the
Lord!

CHRISTOPHER I was quite curious at first: Is Bible Knowledge a
JIMMEY LUCAS tough subject to learn? Honestly, it isn’t easy nor is it hard
to learn Bible Knowledge. If you put all your heart and mind
SM Sung Siew, to learning, you’ll be able to answer the questions correctly.
Sandakan, It does get a bit harder as you try to learn two books which
Sabah are the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel according to
Luke. Fortunately, I was able to keep on learning as hard as I
could and pray to God in times of need. At last, I was happy
to score a ‘B’ in my SPM. It may not be perfect but I am still
thankful for it.

Learning it isn’t just about getting a good grade.
Learning Bible Knowledge is about understanding the Word
of God and to grow closer to Him. For those who are in
doubt of taking Bible Knowledge, I encourage you to take the
subject as it is not as hard as people say and there are a lot
of benefits you can get from learning it.

Studying Bible Knowledge was interesting but the AMANDA LOI
process was undeniably challenging. Initially I asked myself SPM BK 2021 (A+)
whether I had made the right choice. However, the Holy St Joseph’s
Spirit opened my mind and I realised that I was studying Private School,
about the life of the Lord Jesus, the Saviour and Someone Kuching
whom I need most as my guide. Besides, reading and
understanding all the parables of Jesus and the preaching BLISS LAM
by his disciples was absolutely worthwhile as they contain SPM BK 2021 (A-)
many valuable lessons for life. St Joseph’s

Studying BK has caused me to reflect on the life of Kuching
Jesus and walk the talk by practising His values in my daily
life.

It was much fun studying BK. I am a non-Christian
and I always felt that school was very academically based.
BK thus provided me enough time and space to reflect on
life and attitudes assisted by the Bible. For me, it was
easier to score in BK compared to the Science subjects, so
it was not a problem preparing for the exam. However,
remembering the details is hard so I suggest practising
active recall. After reading the text, try sharing the story
with others. It worked for me. Copying parts of the text
works too, however it takes a lot of time. It is important to
find your own way of studying the Bible and I assure you
that it will really be fun.

ANTON SIDHU I decided to take up Bible Knowledge in Form 5. The
task ahead was daunting, not just to learn the Form 5
SPM BK 2021 (A-) syllabus but to also catch up on the Form 4 syllabus. I am
grateful to my parents, who supported, encouraged and
SMK Kota prayed with me. The Holy Spirit has been my comforter,
Kemuning, advocate, helper and much more.
Selangor
My first BK class with Miss Moey made me realise
how deep the Word of God is. No other SPM subject has
impacted me the way Bible Knowledge did. Besides adding to
my knowledge, BK has deepened my Christian walk and
taught me values that I will hold on to for life. If not for Bible
Knowledge, I would have been a very different person and
my future after SPM would have looked very different.
BK has drawn me to hear and submit to God’s will.

I am grateful to Miss Moey who guided me towards
achieving an A- in BK. She has been a mentor and an
inspiration to me to want to pursue my tertiary education in
Biblical Studies.

I encourage students to take BK for SPM. Our Lord
Jesus is a faithful God and He always makes good on His
promises. Isaiah 55:8-9.

After completing my BK journey, I can confidently MARSHALL CHEE
say I was able to learn more about my faith and I also got to SPM BK 2021 (A)
know a great teacher. The process is tough, that is St Joseph’s
unavoidable. You want good results, you must earn it. BK Private Sch,ool,
requires much dedication and it involves lots of Kuching
memorisation and revision. But it was worth it as I learnt
what the Bible teaches. BRIAN

My BK classes were fun too. We did group projects, JOHAN
played games and had other activities like acting and SPM BK 2021 (B)
watching movies. It helped us remember what we learnt. I St. Joseph’s
am glad I got more than enough good guidance and Private School,

have another ‘A’ to display on my SPM certificate.

Most people think of Bible Knowledge as boring and
tedious. That is not what I have experienced in my Bible
Knowledge class. I was challenged by all the quizzes and
exercises thrown at me. I was cheered and motivated by my
friends. BK prepared me for life. Throughout the two years,
I learnt how to emulate the heart of Christ, to help and to
heal, and to spread the Word by my deeds. I came out from
it as a new man, packed with knowledge and values that will
help me become a contributing member of society. BK has

helped me grow and develop my spirituality.

MAX NG Bible Knowledge was a subject I took purely to challenge and
entertain myself. It is certainly not an ‘easy A’. For me, I had
SPM BK 2021 (A+) to work really hard in order to score well. I memorised
information in such detail that I even researched the facts in
St. Joseph’s the footnotes.
Private School,
Kuching BK was one of the most enjoyable classes and I had
a lot of fun. If you are still on the fence and cannot decide,
don’t worry, your teachers will guide you. For those who are
interested, trust me, when you finish your SPM, you will be
way more relieved than those who took less subjects even
though before the paper you will be scrambling and
complaining to each other about why you even took the
paper in the first place.

SPM BK 2021 (A+)
St Joseph’s Studying BK for SPM is not easy because it requires
Private School, us to memorize and remember many details in Luke and Acts
Kuching to score an A+. The stories and parables found in the two
books are very interesting and can be easily understood if
13 enough effort is put into reading the verses and footnotes
with commitment and determination. Plus, with the help of
questions and exercises based on past year papers, it is
definitely not an issue to score an excellent grade for this

paper.

Aside from studying and understanding Bible
Knowledge for academic purposes, I find that my faith in

God as a Catholic has been strengthened.

When I chose to take BK for SPM, I wasn’t sure if it NATALIE LOW
was the right choice because I was already struggling with
9 subjects. However, our teacher’s passion for BK and SPM BK 2021 (A-)
dedication motivated me to keep going on. Throughout my
BK journey, I have experienced the abundant grace and St Joseph’s
blessings from God. I realised how powerful prayer is. When Private School,
I stopped seeing BK as just an academic subject and Kuching
instead, a way to deepen my relationship with God, I enjoyed
learning and it no longer felt like a burden. My two years of
BK was impactful and shaped me into who I am today. I hope
more students will continue to take SPM BK to change their
lives for the better and bring glory to God.

Luke and Acts reveal Jesus’ ministry when He was on earth SPM BK 2021 (A-)
and the early church. These books are filled with miracles
and lessons we can learn so much from. From the parables St Joseph’s
in Luke to the many miracles performed in Acts, there is Private School,
something for every season of life. I am really thankful for Kuching
my BK teacher who nurtured us, not only academically, but
spiritually as well. I have no regrets studying BK for SPM.
BK might be challenging to some, but I promise it’s worth it
in the end. You will learn, grow, gain wisdom for the many
phases in your life to come.

RAPHAEL TING Before I took BK as an elective subject in SPM, I did
not know much about God. And of course, I was blinded from
SPM BK 2021 (A) all His great teaching. I am glad I had the courage to study
BK even though I had no clue what was going on. After two
St Joseph’s years of studying BK, I have learned many things about God:
Private School, perseverance, becoming a better person, having a
Kuching charitable heart and I have matured in my thinking.
Therefore, I encourage everyone to take BK in SPM. It is not

about what grade you get but how much you gain from it.

JAYDEN LEE CHANG The study of the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles
HENG has been very interesting. I have not only learnt about the
stories, events and passages from these two books in the
SPM BK 2021 (A-) Bible, I have also learnt about the history, society and
traditions from the time these two books were written.
Sabah Tshung Tsin
Secondary School, Studying both Luke and Acts has drawn me closer
Kota Kinabalu to God. Through these two books, I learnt the great truth
that Jesus has already paid for all our sins on the cross and
we should tell others about His love for everyone.

Taking Bible Knowledge for SPM was actually a leap DESHAWN CHEE

of faith because I was not the brightest student and this SPM BK 2021 (B+)
would add an extra load on my shoulder. However, if I were
to do it all over again, I would not change my decision at all. St Joseph’s
I had my struggles with BK but I never thought about Private School,
Kuching
dropping BK half way because of the support from Mr Ben
and my classmates. Class was always interesting with the
group discussions, group projects and videos that we were
led to through our Google Classroom assignments. I am

grateful that I had the opportunity to study Bible Knowledge
because it allowed me to meditate on God’s Word and I was
constantly reminded that I was not alone throughout my
SPM journey.

I took Bible Knowledge thinking it could boost my overall NATALIE SONG
SPM results. Despite getting an A+, I was very wrong about
SPM BK 2021 (A+)
it being easy. The new format brought us out of our comfort
zones with the critical thinking (KBAT) question. There is St Joseph’s
room for individuality and spiritual growth from reflecting Private School,
on personal experiences. And that I feel is what makes SPM Kuching

BK such a special subject.
I was very fortunate to have friends and a

supportive teacher to guide me along the way. There is so

much in the Bible which I have yet to uncover,

SARAH GRACE At first, I thought BK was a fun and familiar subject.
However, I began to struggle during the pandemic when we
St Joseph’s had online classes. When I did not do well in my tests, I asked
Private School, myself if I regretted taking the subject for SPM. However,
Kuching this subject made me feel closer to God, I enjoyed every
moment of it and so I persevered. There were times I nearly
gave up but my teacher encouraged me to keep going. If I
were to relive my secondary school life, I would take Bible

Knowledge anytime.

FAYTH LEE Studying BK has really changed my perspective of
things and has impacted my spiritual growth. Many of my life
SPM BK 2021 (A+) principles were shaped by the parables in the Scriptures and
lessons derived from each one of them. BK isn’t all about
St Joseph’s blindly memorizing chunks of texts from the two books. In
Private School, fact, our teacher made classes more interesting and
Kuching engaging by sharing experiences alongside a creative
approach of teaching through videos and discussions.

All in all, I believe taking BK was a wise and
rewarding decision. I strongly encourage students to take
this subject because when you first seek the Kingdom of God
and His righteousness, everything will be added to you.

When we sow into God’s kingdom and His Word, we RACHELLE JO
reap the goodness and joy that comes from Him. Studying LIEW
Bible Knowledge for SPM requires allocating time on a SPM BK 2021 (A)
regular basis to listen to God speak His Word and respond St Joseph’s
to Him in worship and prayer. It will eventually develop in us Private School,
the practice of spending time getting to know God through Kuching
his Word even beyond what the BK syllabus covers. I reckon
it is an important habit to develop as a teenager. I truly PETER TANG SEE
believe that your perspective shifts once God touches your HAN

Initially, I took BK just to get an extra A in my SPM.
But soon I realized that BK wasn’t as easy as I had
imagined. Despite the difficulties, God’s grace was with me.
He changed my mind set about BK. Instead of treating it as
a subject like History, I learned it to know more about God’s
will, applying and obeying the lessons learned. Furthermore,
competitions and exams made me read Luke and Acts again
and again. With every new round of reading, I got new
insights about God’s word. I learned new lessons from the
same words every time, and that is what amazed me!

Remember that God is gracious and faithful. He will
surely help those who sacrifice their time and energy to
study His Word.

RAYMOND KIMURA My BK journey is both meaningful and enriching
SPM BK 2021 (A) because whilst it may be an academic subject, it genuinely
SMK Methodist shaped me as an individual. The courage and ministry of
Sibu Paul, the troubles and endurance of the persecuted
apostles, the teachings behind each parable etc. are to me,
KELLY TIONG CHZE not just part of the academic syllabus but rather examples
CHENG of how we can serve God and represent our aspirations to
SPM BK 2021 (A-) the Christian mission. This journey strengthened my resolve
SMK Methodist to apply the teachings of Jesus in my daily life. Some might
Sibu be scared of how “tough” the paper is but Bible Knowledge
is less about the score on your exam paper but more about
learning the various events in the Bible and finding meaning
within them. I would strongly recommend taking Bible

Knowledge as a subject because it broadens our horizons.

The two years of learning BK was not only about studying
and doing exams, it was a path to connect me with God.
I was able to study the Bible in different perspectives.
Sometimes, I struggled as it is difficult to score and I need
to memorize a lot of details, having to study an extra
subject. However, God is always my helper. I was greatly
encouraged by His Word when I was about to give up.
I would also like to thank our teacher, Mr Daniel for his
dedication and the effort he put into every lesson. I hope
I can always keep His Word as a lamp to my feet and a light

to my path.

friend as He is always present with me in my daily life.
I enjoyed the BK classes every Friday. My BK teacher is an SMK Methodist
experienced, capable, and trustworthy teacher who Sibu

encouraged us to develop a deeper relationship with God.
Studying BK has also given me confidence. I can face
problems or difficulties without worries because I know
that God is always with me. He always protects me and my

family and grants us good health. I will keep what I have
learned in mind and always believe in our faithful God.

Taking BK in SPM has made a big change in my life. SPM BK 2021 (A)

At first, I found it very difficult because my English was not Sibu
good enough. I always had to refer to the Chinese version
Bible while studying BK. But the amazing thing is as I studied 20
the Word of God, I found that it is not that hard actually and
my English improved as well.

Taking BK is a great benefit in our lives. God’s Word
will bring us peace and joy. I hope more students will take
BK because it will be a precious opportunity for you to find
how beautiful God’s word is.

I thank my BK teacher, Mr Daniel for encouraging
me to participate in the National SPM Bible Knowledge
Quizzes. Through my teacher’s explanation, I learned the
lessons behind the parables and miracles of Jesus which
I found very interesting!

EVA CLESTEE Taking Bible Knowledge was a life-changing
STEVEN experience. I have to admit that studying BK is challenging.
SPM BK 2021 (A) God used a BK teacher to encourage me to study His Word.
SM. St. Patrick So, I decided to give it a go!
Tawau
Before the National BK Quizzes, our teacher
COCO CHIN JIA organised extra classes for us. I became greatly interested
XIN and decided to study Luke and Acts more seriously. Soon I
SPM BK 2021 (A-) found myself improving, not only in BK but in my other
SM. St. Patrick subjects too. I began to grow spiritually and my relationship
Tawau with God became stronger. In BK class, we were always
reminded to put God first and God will honour us. I recall the
night before the Mathematics and BK paper, I spent most of
my time revising BK with my friend. Praise God! Both of us
got As.

I took BK since Form 1. When I was in Form 4,
I joined the BK quizzes and our teacher gave extra classes to
help us understand BK better. Honestly, I felt stressed then
because I had to revise diligently. But through the quizzes, I
gained a lot of knowledge and I could understand Acts and
Luke better. I got interested in learning the Word of God and
my grades improved. When the SPM results came out, I
couldn’t believe that I got an A- for BK. I have no regrets
taking BK as an extra subject in SPM although it is not an
easy journey. God has always been by my side to help me.

I have been studying Bible Knowledge since I was in IVAN YAP
Form 1 and even though I was forced to take it then, I now
realise that I don’t have any regrets taking this subject. At SPM BK 2021 (A)
first, I just saw it as a subject I had to pass. I thought I
would drop BK if I could not cope. However, when I was in SM. St. Patrick
Form 3, I realised how important BK is to everyone. I was Tawau
able to participate in the BK Quiz. A retired teacher
“prepared” me and a few other BK students for the quizzes.
It was hard but our hard work paid off when we managed to
emerge as the National Champions for the 23rd National
SPM BK Oral Quiz in 2019. I obtained an A for BK in my SPM
which really makes me feel that these 5 years of studying

BK was worth it.

I did not know what to expect in Bible Knowledge. I SPM BK 2021 (B)
took it as a subject because I was curious to know what SM. St. Patrick
Jesus means in my life. Upon learning BK, it was clear that I Tawau
was not good in the subject but Jesus’ teachings really
intrigued me and I became interested in BK. Besides, I got 22
to participate in the BK quizzes for 5 years. It was a great
honour to join those quizzes. It was quite tough to
remember and memorize God’s Word. Praise God, even in
the midst of the Covid-19 lockdowns we could participate in
the BK quizzes online. Overall, taking this subject was a
tough journey for me but I have no regrets. Praise be to the

Lord, I scored a ‘B’ for my BK.

LIM XIN NING. I never thought of taking Bible Knowledge for SPM.
SPM BK 2021 (A+)
When I heard they were having BK classes in church, I thought
SMJK Katholik PJ it was like a Bible sharing session, so I joined. When I came to
realise that BK was an SPM subject, I had hoped that it would
be objective. No, I had to memorize everything and it wasn't

my thing. I had no choice but to always seek God's guidance. I
struggled to the point that I did not have time to cover all the
passages. On the day of the exam, I prayed to God before
continuing my revision. When I sat in the exam hall, I was

surprised to see that the questions were what I had revised
before the exams. I thank God for sending the Holy Spirit to
guide me throughout the exam. I was even more amazed to
see that I got an A+ for Bible Knowledge. All praise to God for
his guidance and blessing!

Initially, I was hesitant about taking up BK. It was a
SMK St. Anne,
Labuan struggle for me to focus on BK when the pandemic started
and classes were online. Thankfully, with guidance from God
and the support of my close ones, I was able to balance every
aspect of my life. That’s when I realised that learning the Word
of God is not solely about achieving better academic grades
but rather as personal growth. Most importantly, studying BK
helped to strengthen my relationship with God .It was a
worthwhile experience. God truly has a purpose for everything
that He does and has done.

Why I took up Bible Knowledge? The first reason was TING JENG KOO
because my brother took it and I wanted to follow in his SPM BK 2021 (A+)
footsteps. Secondly, I wanted to get closer to God by further SMK Bintulu
understanding Acts and Luke. There were a few times I Sarawak
nearly gave up, considering whether to take the exam but

I want to thank my BK teacher who kept SPM BK 2021 (A+)
encouraging and guiding me through the years. I have no SMK St. Anne,
regrets taking BK because I learned a lot about the Labuan
background and details of Scriptures and the life of Jesus
and the apostle Paul. The Scriptures are a lot more than just
mere stories. These are incidents that happened and they
are still applicable to me. I strongly encourage SPM students
especially Christians to take up BK for SPM.

At the beginning of 2020, I decided to join the BK
class because I had a strong feeling in my heart that I should
take it as one of my SPM subjects. It was hard at first.
Because of the Covid and lockdowns, we were not able to
meet our teacher face to face. There was a time when I felt I
wanted to quit but I decided not to because through Bible
Knowledge, I was learning a lot about God. I decided to stay
and with the help of God, I’ve managed through the hard
times. I am so glad I took BK.

JOASH YIM SHENG As someone who is not good at studying, taking BK
ZHOU as a subject in the SPM examination turned out to be good
SPM BK 2021 (A) for me. When I started to study and read The Gospel
Methodist Boys’ according to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, I realised
Secondary School, that I actually liked them. I found stillness and peace reading
Kuala Lumpur the Scriptures. Not only that, it allowed me to spend more
time with God and thus discover His purpose for me in this
CHRIS EMMANUEL world. This made me feel secure and confident through all

I started joining the Bible Knowledge class when I was in
Form 4. It was amazing. There are many things that I learnt
from studying BK. One of them is about understanding the
Scriptures itself based on historical facts. Plus, I managed
to improve my English as well. Looking back, taking BK didn’t
really burden me that much but it still was not an easy task.
Despite the challenges, I did fairly well in my SPM trial exam.
Taking BK meant trusting God that He would guide me no
matter what my SPM result would be for Luke 12:24 says,
“Look at the crows, they don’t plant seed or gather a
harvest, they don’t have storage rooms or barns, yet God
feeds them! You are worth so much more than birds.” This is
my favourite verse in BK class and I held on to these words
every time I met obstacles in life, so even SPM doesn’t mean
as much compared to God’s Word. I thank God for blessing
me with an A for BK in SPM.

changed my life in many ways, such as helping me improve
my English Language proficiency, forging new bonds with SPM BK 2021 (A-)
others as well as improving my critical thinking skills. To
those who are still undecided about taking this subject for Methodist Boys’
Secondary School,
SPM or who still think that this subject is “unnecessary”, I Kuala Lumpur
say ‘just go for it’. God will guide you through any challenge,
even through the journey of learning HIS message and when
you reach the end, you will have gained so much that the

hours spent at your desk will seem like nothing.

As both of my older siblings took BK for their SPM, it ANDREW POH
was only natural for me to do the same. Although the initial YANG JUN
journey of memorisation was exhausting, its benefits have
far outweighed its labour. BK has assisted me in my study of SPM BK 2021 (A)
the Bible in deeper depth, provided context and meaning to
what seemed like idle words and ultimately strengthening my Methodist Boys’
foundation in Christ. Looking back through the past 2 years, I Secondary School,
do not regret taking BK for SPM. I want to encourage my Kuala Lumpur
juniors to do the same. The benefits of studying BK cannot be
compared with the other subjects. It has been a stressful
and tiring journey but with the power of the Holy Spirit and
guidance from my teachers, I managed to end this journey by

obtaining an A for BK in my SPM examination. Praise the Lord!

LYNNETTE ELYSSA I took SPM Bible Knowledge simply because both
LOPEZ, my older sisters took BK and my late grandfather used to
teach BK decades ago. Studying the subject on my own
SPM BK 2021 (A) during the pandemic was a daunting task but I was
determined. I read Acts and Luke repeatedly and answered
SMK Assunta, many past year SPM and Trial papers. I am eternally
Petaling Jaya, grateful to Dr Peter Pereira who guided me throughout the
Selangor last month before my SPM.

It was not easy but it was worth it. Two weeks after
my SPM BK paper, my grandfather passed away. His passing
was extremely difficult to cope with, So on results day two
months later, I felt proud that I had managed to get an A in
Bible Knowledge, a subject that he himself taught. I felt an
overwhelming sense of comfort, as if there is a part of him
that will continue to live through me. Bible Knowledge has
drawn me closer to God and I now have a deeper
understanding of my faith. I look forward to studying more
of the Bible. It's not easy but in the words of my mother's
favourite Bible verse, (Philippians 4:13) "I can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me".

In 2020, a friend asked me if I was interested in IAN GONG
taking an extra subject called Bible Knowledge. I never
thought there would be such a subject that we could take SPM BK 2021 (A)
for SPM and so, I agreed.
SMK Seri
There were two books to study: the Gospel Kembangan,
according to Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. In Luke, Selangor
Jesus taught us to love and forgive our enemies. Also,
Jesus taught me to act as a neighbour by reaching out to
show kindness and love to everyone, regardless of race or
religion. Jesus died on the cross for us and freed us from
our sin because He loves us.

In Acts, I have learned that we must be willing to
suffer for God's sake. For example, Paul did not give up in
his mission because God was always by his side to guide
him and help him. God loves us, no matter what. Most
importantly, I have come to understand and know more
about God and we as Christians must follow Him and spread
the word of God always.

SERENE CHAN I am glad I took Bible Knowledge as one of my SPM
subjects although I was already loaded with many subjects.
SPM BK 2021 (A) At first I took BK because I grew up in a Christian family and
I reckoned I could easily conquer it. But as the first lesson
SMK Seri started, I realized there was a lot to know and learn. With
Kembangan, each passing lesson I gained more knowledge about the
Selangor Bible as well as explored the greatness and wonder
of Jesus.

I found it difficult as we had to memorise a lot of
facts but as I began to understand each passage the easier
it became to remember the incident and relate it to my life.
In fact, this helped me to build a strong foundation in faith as
a Christian and get closer to God. I am also grateful to have
excellent BK teachers and friends accompany me along my
BK journey. Lastly, praise the Lord that I scored an A for BK
in SPM.

I had quite a wonderful BK journey. I had an VERONICA WANG
excellent teacher, very encouraging parents and friends, SPM BK 2021 (A)
and I do not regret taking BK for my SPM examination. I
know many students would hesitate taking BK because they SMK Kepong Baru,
are afraid that it would affect their overall results. With Kuala Lumpur
proper time management and with proper guidance, I think
that this subject is still manageable. I strongly recommend
anyone who is willing to learn BK to take this subject in your
SPM examination.

When I first went for Bible Knowledge class, getting SPM BK 2021 (A+)
an A+ seemed almost impossible because I kept relying on
my strength. However, by the grace of God, I eventually SMK Puteri
started to rely on His strength, not mine. Proverbs 16:3 Ipoh, Perak
says "Commit your work to the Lord and your plans shall be
established." So, I decided to commit my plan to get an A+ in
this paper to God and did my part by studying hard. As time
passed, I improved in memorizing the details in the two
books and becoming more confident. Another verse that
encouraged me is 2 Corinthians 12:9. But he said to me, “My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” So, I believe that when I got an A+ in Bible
Knowledge for SPM, God showed his power in my weakness.

JOEL LIAW YONG When I was advised by my teacher to take Bible
SHENG Knowledge as an extra subject, I was sceptical, because I
was afraid it would affect my SPM results. Yet, over the span
SMK Chung Hua of two years, studying Bible Knowledge, became a blessing
(CF) Miri, Sarawak from God Himself. It helped me grasp studying techniques in
multiple subjects, and most importantly, deepened my
knowledge and understanding of the Scriptures and
consequently, strengthened my faith in God. I am thankful
for the wonderful experience I had in studying Bible

Penang Chinese Taking Bible Knowledge as an extra subject in SPM
Girls’ High School was one of the best choices I have ever made. Initially I
simply took BK without hesitation for the sake of taking
more subjects in the SPM examination. What I didn’t expect
was that the more I studied God’s Word, the more I was
deeply touched inside. I started to pray and after some time
it became my daily habit. Now I pray and study God’s word
everyday. I really can feel the strength and peace of God in
me whenever I pray. Well, God really responded to my
prayers and late night struggles. Today, I consider myself
blessed that I had this wonderful opportunity to learn Bible

Knowledge and get to know more about God.

Studying BK for SPM was a tough journey for me. It KONG KE XIN
was not easy having to consistently read, do exercises and
memorise all the important events, parables, lessons, SMK St. Columba,
characters and so on. Honestly, I really learnt a lot from Miri, Sarawak
Bible knowledge. Not like the other subjects. In learning BK,
it's not learning and doing exercises only but we also PRAY.
When you share your problem with your teacher and your
friends, they will pray for you. BK class is not just teacher-
student relationship but a family in Christ relationship. You
will learn that you are not alone because God is always with
you.

I would say this is the special part of taking Bible
Knowledge as you not only learn more about the Bible, you
also grow in your spiritual life because your friends, your
teachers and you are together praying for each other,
learning to give all your problems to God and with Him you
can face anything. Last but not least, always remember that
with God everything is possible so no matter what your
result is, praise God and glorify his name.

EUNICE TING Taking Bible Knowledge for SPM was really a
blessed journey. Even though I faced a lot of hard times in
SMK St . Columba taking one extra subject which is not so easy to score,
Miri, Sarawak learning the Word and wisdom of God is worth it. Studying
BK is more than learning facts from the Bible. We learn to be
more like our Father in heaven. It reminds us of our role as
His disciples and how we should persevere for Him. When I
stepped out from the exam room after my BK paper, I knew I
had no regrets taking BK.

I just praise the Lord for I am blessed to glorify
Him. Taking BK was not for an extra A in my result slip but
for the kingdom of God for there is so much you can learn in
Luke and Acts. I strongly encourage every student to take
Bible Knowledge for SPM. You will experience God's Word
work in you.

I decided to take Bible Knowledge when I saw how PRITHI DAVINA
all my seniors in school scored extremely well in BK, and RAYMOND
here I was thinking it was an easy subject. At first, I enjoyed SMK Assunta,
studying the Word of God but when exams came, I struggled. Petaling Jaya
I was on the verge of dropping it when I decided to put my Selangor
faith in God and asked Him to guide me. God really helped

I was always a lukewarm Christian before I took
Bible Knowledge. Going to church every Sunday was
sufficient for me, or so I thought. Delving into just two books
of the Bible, (Luke and Acts) has already opened my eyes to
the hidden wonders and treasures from God that I had been
missing all these years. It just made me wonder what other
treasures lay in all the other 64 books.

Studying Bible Knowledge has drawn me closer to
God so that I may lead a holy and fulfilling life before Him.
Without God embedding Bible Knowledge in my life three
years ago, I would still be a lost wanderer who has no one
to lean on.

I am forever grateful for Bible Knowledge as this
subject has made me who I am today.

MALCOLM ERNEST Bible Knowledge is something that I knew for sure I
PAUL was going to be taking up as a subject for SPM. I took part in
all types of church level and national level quizzes
SMK Seksyen 1 throughout the years and prepared myself for BK SPM.
Bandar Kinrara, Studying BK for me was absolutely amazing because I got to
Selangor spend time with my teacher learning about the Word of God
and taking my mind away from the subjects that I was
studying in school. It really helped me to forget all academic
pressures and just focus on the Word of God.

BK really helped me to study the Word of God more
often and spend more time learning His Word. I was also
very blessed to have a teacher who taught me the ins and
outs of every chapter that we went through preparing for
the BK exam. BK was never about the results that I was
going to get but always about growing closer to my Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ.

Choosing to take this subject is a decision that I am ISAAC CHAN
proud of making. SPM BK brings a new realisation of the
true depth of the Word of God and how beautiful it can be SPM BK A 2021
when we know more of its context and history. Taking SPM
BK has definitely helped me understand the Scriptures Wesley Methodist
better and even equipped me to serve in church and to School KL
share the Word of God. Moreover, studying a subject to (International)
glorify God through my results while getting to study the
Bible is killing two birds with one stone. Many times God
spoke to me through SPM BK lessons or when I was revising
for my exam.

With the right heart, studying SPM BK can definitely
be a time of devotion with God! In the end, I was full of joy
when I got an A in my SPM BK exam, solidifying my belief
that when I rely on God and study hard, He will carry me
through. It was truly a pleasure to take this subject and I
hope many would do the same!

CHLOE MAU I decided to take SPM BK in year 11. Although it was
not a needed subject for my future course, I went for it after
SPM BK 2021 (B+) encouragement from my parents. When I had a look at the
syllabus (though not taking it too seriously), the content
Wesley Methodist given drew me in. SPM BK gave me the opportunity to study
School KL the life of Jesus and His apostles in great detail. I learnt so
(International) many cool facts about the Bible that I just couldn’t help it
but share with peers!

This exam made me not only read the Bible but
study and understand its teachings. Through SPM BK I
believe my faith in the Lord has grown stronger and I have
been encouraged to continue seeking the Bible for guidance.
I encourage anyone thinking of taking BK to go for it! You
never know what you might learn!

SPM BK 2021 (A-) Graduating without taking SPM BK did not sound
right for me so when the time came, I signed up for BK
Wesley Methodist because I knew I would regret in the future if I had not in my
School KL secondary school life studied for the 9221 Bible Knowledge
(International) paper.

I did not have enough time to study for BK and I
struggled a lot but praise the Lord, because He helped me
not to give up on SPM BK!

Two things I constantly think about: to carry my
cross daily and how Paul was radically changed because of
God, and how he testified for God.

I was introduced to Bible Knowledge in my school CHRISTABEL
through the annual Bible Knowledge Quiz. It was a CHONG
competition that I enjoyed. The texts were familiar passages
to me as I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and SPM BK 2021 (A+)
to attend Sunday School.

I attended the quizzes every year. From the first School KL
time I watched the Oral Quiz, I made up my mind that I would (International)
one day be like them, participating in the Quiz. (I fulfilled this
dream of mine eventually :)

Studying Luke and Acts, opened my eyes to great
truths. It helped me to see incidents that happened in
different perspectives. Undeniably, studying BK was a
challenge, but one that bore rewards greater than one
could ever imagine.

MICHELLE YEE MEI When I heard that my school offered Bible
SIE Knowledge as a subject for SPM, I signed up for the class
SPM BK 2021 (A-) and began my journey as a BK student. By studying Bible
Knowledge, I was able to gain in-depth understanding of the
SM Sung Siew, Bible stories I was familiar with. It strengthened my faith in
Sandakan God and my connection with Him.

YVONNE ISABEL The two years of studying Bible Knowledge was
CHONG definitely challenging. The thought of dropping the subject
SMK Konven was something I often considered but I thank God for giving
St. Cecilia, me the perseverance to see it through because I got an A-
Sandakan, Sabah for BK in SPM! I am grateful and thankful to my teacher who
tirelessly taught me and to God who blessed me and guided
me all the way.

Studying Bible Knowledge has been a very fruitful
journey for me. Besides reading the texts endlessly for
exams and competitions I have gained very good

constantly called on the name of Jesus. I found myself
getting better because He gave me good friends to study
with and an encouraging teacher. Thus, I was able to study
BK in a more efficient way. I am glad I chose to study BK for
SPM and learn more about God.

I took SPM Bible Knowledge because I have a great VICTOR
interest in learning and gaining more knowledge of the JESHURUN JOHN
Bible. I also got to study the book of Luke and Acts in an
interesting and more detailed way. These books have SPM BK 2021 (B)
interesting stories that help us understand the life and
teachings of Jesus in Luke and what happened in the early SMK St. David,
years of Christianity in the Acts of the Apostles. The two Melaka
books also teach us how to build our spiritual character,
receive salvation and walk according to God’s ways.

This subject was somewhat hard, having to learn
the history of the early church, events that took place and
so on. But it was exciting and I learnt a lot. I praise God for
giving me a B in Bible Knowledge and I thank Teacher Jagan
for helping and coaching me. Even through the pandemic
and with online lessons I was able to learn BK with ease
without problems. Thanks be to God!

ZACHARY SINGKEE I am very thankful for having taken this step of faith

SPM BK 2021 (B+) to do Bible Knowledge. I was nervous as it was new to me
and I was the only student in my school to take BK for SPM
SMK USJ 12, but the Lord opened the door. My teachers were very
Selangor attentive and sensitive to each student's needs and were

always ready and available to help me. I thank God for their
commitment, dedication and their love for each of us. In
view of this, it has made studying BK much easier and fun-
filled. Learning BK has opened my mind to knowing Jesus

more especially His attributes, character, and love for us
and it has also expanded my knowledge of the parables and
many other incidents. I am grateful for the opportunity to
study BK for my SPM examination. Thank you teachers for
your love for Jesus and your dedication, commitment and
love for each of us. Your patience in teaching us week after
week has taught us the joy of knowing Jesus and knowing
the WORD that brings LIFE .

What is better than learning God's Word? When I first heard EMANUEL KONG
about BK, I was interested to study it. With my parents’ CIEN XING
encouragement I took the challenge. In the process of
learning BK I faced a lot of difficulties such as language SMK Dato' Jaafar,
proficiency, a busy schedule and stress. I am from a Johor Baharu
Chinese-speaking family and church so I often could not
explain or elaborate points effectively in English.

However, by studying BK I had the opportunity to
improve my command of English and vocabulary. It was
also difficult for me to study one more subject in addition to
10 other subjects. Thus, I often felt like giving up but
somehow I managed to make it to the end. I believe it was
God helping me to withstand the stress along the way.
Studying BK has enhanced my understanding of Luke and
Acts and apply the knowledge in my life. My teacher also
gave me assignments to improve my answering techniques.
Most importantly, I have learnt how to follow Jesus and be
like Jesus. Although there were many challenges, my
experience in studying BK for SPM is a stepping stone to

becoming a better person.

LEE ZHI EN I was excited when I started learning BK after PT3.
SPM BK 2021 (A-) But the struggles began when I was in Form 4, having to

Temerloh, Pahang juggle with 11 subjects. The road was never easy as I began
to see some of my friends who were learning BK pull out. As
BEVERLEY I was about to think of quitting, I suddenly remembered why
JOCELYN I studied BK: to learn more about God and His Word.

SPM BK 2021 (A) Throughout the lessons, I have not only grown in knowledge,
SMK Konven St but also grown spiritually and that is why having the
Cecilia, Sandakan, opportunity to learn BK was a blessing from God, and taking
Sabah BK in SPM is a chance for me to honour God, as what my

mom always told me: if you honour God, God will honour you.
(1 Samuel 2:30) Even though I felt I did not do well on the
exam day and never expected anything above B, God's grace
has been upon me as I got A- for BK. All glory and honour

belong to Him alone.

At first, I wasn’t sure if I should take BK for SPM
because I already had 10 subjects to focus on. I prayed
about it. My parents and teachers too encouraged me. Bible
Knowledge has greatly impacted my life. I have learnt more
about Jesus, His teachings and miracles and about the
apostles. There are many life lessons from the Gospel too.
Spiritually I have grown but most importantly I was able to
connect with God. The BK quizzes that I participated in
helped me a lot. I read the 2 books repeatedly, answered
textbook questions and did many past year questions.
Everything is possible with God. At last, I got straight As and
an A in Bible Knowledge. Praise the Lord!

Many people told me that Bible Knowledge is a very tough PREVINA SURESH
subject especially to a student who does not like to memorise SMK St Mary, KL
things and has a poor command of English like me. I took
Bible Knowledge because I wanted to know more about God
and draw closer to Him. I found that BK got harder as I
studied deeper into Acts. Sometimes when I did not
understand many things, l prayed and asked God to guide me
and make it clear to me. He answered my prayers. I
experienced His guidance many times and that is why I
believe in Him. Besides that, I was going through a lot of
troubles in life during my BK journey but that was the year
for me to draw closer to God. I always remind myself that
God’s plans are always greater than mine… God’s way is

always better than our ways.

God helped me to study BK and gave me the courage
to face the challenges. I am so glad I took BK for my SPM
examination.

MORDECAI I started joining the Bible Knowledge class when I
SIERRAN RUGAG was in Form 4. It was amazing. There are many things that I
learnt from studying BK. One of them is about understanding
SPM BK 2021 (A) the Scriptures itself based on historical facts. Plus, I
managed to improve my English as well. Looking back, taking
SM Lok Yuk Kota BK didn’t really burden me that much but it still was not an
Kinabalu (CF) easy task. Despite the challenges, I did fairly well in my SPM
trial exam. Taking BK meant trusting God that He would
guide me no matter what my SPM result would be for Luke
12:24 says, “Look at the crows, they don’t plant seed or
gather a harvest, they don’t have storage rooms or barns,
yet God feeds them! You are worth so much more than
birds.” This is my favourite verse in BK class and I held on to
these words every time I met obstacles in life, so even SPM
doesn’t mean as much compared to God’s Word. I thank God

for blessing me with an A for BK in SPM.

I joined Bible Knowledge (BK) classes when I was in JERICHO JIKULA
Form 2 after being encouraged by my friends. I enjoyed my SPM BK 2021 (A)
BK classes because I had the opportunity to learn the Word
of God more deeply. Even though I've read the Bible many SM Lok Yuk Kota
times, BK made me realize that there is always something Kinabalu (CF)
new to discover, especially when you study the Bible from
the cultural perspective of the people in Biblical times.
Discussing the Scriptures with my BK classmates helped me
to understand certain verses better. BK also helped to
improve my command of English. During the last 3 years of
school, I struggled with many things. BK is one of the things
that kept me rooted and grounded in God's Word. I was not
expecting to pass BK in SPM because I was going through
hard times. I believe God is the person behind my success in

scoring an A for BK.

I strongly encourage Christian students to join
Bible Knowledge classes. Studying BK may not give you
straight As in SPM but knowing God is better than anything

else.

KIMBERLY I have been studying Bible Knowledge since I was in
CARISSA KINSON Form 3. Growing up in a Christian household, the Bible was
no stranger to me. So, when my mum encouraged me to
SPM BK 2021 (A-) take BK for SPM, I had nothing much to lose. Many people
said that Bible Knowledge is like History - lots of important
SM Lok Yuk Kota events, names and places, all of which needs to be
Kinabalu (CF) memorised, which to some extent is true. However, what
truly sets this subject apart is that no matter how many
times I revisit a certain passage, I’ll always gain a new
perspective from it.

. The detailed footnotes and “nuggets of wisdom”
also help me to better understand the context of the story
which should not be overlooked. My personal favourite is the
thought-provoking group discussions in which we would
discuss topics related to the lesson learnt. Truly, Bible
Knowledge was more than just a subject to me. It was a
personal experience that has allowed me to deepen and
strengthen my understanding of my faith in Jesus and it
gave me a new level of appreciation for the Bible.
