Leadership Message

“Communication works for those who work at it” – John Powell

“Effective communication requires active listening skills” – Farshad Asl

I have had the privilege of leading the communication efforts for the Southeast Region for more than eight
years. We all know that communication as a whole is an important component in everything we do here at
Quest. But ensuring we communicate effectively and ethically are critical to our success.

Communicating effectively and ethically means your ideas are truthful, respected, heard, and people are

acting upon them. Equally as important, it means that you listen when others speak, seek to understand their

perspective, respect others’ point of view, are non-judgmental, and act on what others say to you. When

teams communicate effectively and ethically, it builds better relationships, promotes trust, enhances

engagement, and productivity increases. Cameron Wannamaker,

A New ‘Coach’ Joins the Southeast Region!

During Lab Week, a brand new coach was on display at the Tampa facility in April and
was introduced to Quest colleagues and the community. This one-of-a-kind, new mobile
PSC contains three patient encounter rooms, a restroom, a patient waiting area and
processing area. It is designed to provide a full range of specimen collections including
venipuncture, urine analysis, and nasal swabbing. The mobile component will afford us
the opportunity to provide testing access to communities in Florida including the
underserved, and assist in maintaining business continuity for our PSC network.
“We are thrilled to see the mobile PSC on the road, doing what Quest Diagnostics firmly
believes in - investing in providing premium healthcare for all people, despite obstacles
that might stand in the way," said Jorge Hernandez.
So if your travels take you to Florida, or you are already located there, be sure to give a wave if you pass the Quest Mobile PSC on
the road. In addition, thank you to all Southeast Region employees who submitted name ideas for our new mobile PSC…we will be
unveiling of the official name soon, so stay tuned!

Special Visitor in Tampa

The Southeast Region was excited and honored to welcome Congresswoman Castor for a town hall and lab tour at the
Tampa facility. After a successful and engaging virtual town hall in 2021, the
Congresswoman expressed an interest in being able to come host a live session in the
future. On July 5th, she was able to do just that.

The town hall portion of Congresswoman Castor’s time at the Tampa facility gave her a
chance to hear from and speak with an array of leaders from nearly every function,
including colleagues from the NOC and HRSC. She empathized with those in the room as
they shared the challenges we all face in the community at large, from housing to gun
safety, transportation to education, and asked what she could do as our representative to
work on facing these challenges. Charlene Romero, NCS Supervisor was in the town hall
and commented, “ First impressions are forever lasting, and Congresswoman Castor was
very personable. Her staff provided an overview of her many initiatives for the great good
of the community. Most importantly, her mission was not only to deliver a message but to
listen to our concerns and offer solutions.”

“I personally was impressed with not only the number of committee’s Representative Congresswoman Castor mentioned her visit and
Castor sits on,” commented Carol Lee, Lab Manager, “but how her team is always working how impressed she was with Quest, on Twitter!
to address issues for the constituents of our district.”

Following the town hall, Congresswoman Castor was given a tour of the laboratory and had
so many positive comments to share with the team. Tracey Davison, Cytology Manger said, “I recall Rep Castor saying
how impressed she was with the amount of testing provided by the facility and the platforms we have to perform the
testing.”

Thank you to everyone who made Congresswoman Castor’s visit to
our Tampa facility so impactful for her and everyone able to spend
time with her! We look forward to seeing all the great work she will
continue to do for the people and companies within her district., and
to welcoming her back in the near future!

Impressive 2021 Corporate Responsibility Report

Every year, Quest puts together an annual Corporate Responsibility (CR) Report that details initiatives, research efforts
and partnerships demonstrating our commitment to positively impacting our patients, clients, colleagues and the
communities in which we operate. Flipping through the pages it is evident that
we have so much to be proud of, especially considering it was all accomplished
while continuing to battle COVID-19 for a second year.
The report features key impact areas and highlights from 2021,
including:
 Time and resources donated to colleagues and communities, with more than

27,000 hours volunteered by employees and approximately 800,000 test
requisitions donated or discounted through patient assistance programs and
Quest for Health Equity.
 Reduction of the company’s environmental footprint by completing the
integration of Northeast regional operations into a 250,000-square-foot, next
-generation lab facility in Clifton, NJ. The Clifton lab is now one of the largest
medical laboratories globally.
 Commitment to identifying, hiring and developing our diverse talent. More than 56% of U.S.-based Quest employees
identify as people of color, representing more diversity than the U.S. workforce as a whole. The company’s workforce
is 71% female, also exceeding the representation of women in the U.S. workforce.
 Over 5,000 Quest colleagues were promoted and advanced their careers at Quest.
 Added two additional Employee Business Networks, Pan Asian Leaders and Caregivers, bringing the total to 10 with
over 7,000 memberships. Pride, the company’s first EBN, celebrated 20 years of programming, advocacy and
education.
 Tracy Doi joined the company’s Board of Directors, which consists of five men and four women, with over 20% of
total board members representing a diverse race or ethnicity. Ms. Doi serves as Chief Financial Officer for Toyota
Motor North America.
