A Renewed Commitment to Inclusion & Diversity at Quest
The following is a message that was sent from Cecilia McKenney, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer, to all Quest employees.
At Quest Diagnostics, one of our key strengths is the diversity of backgrounds and perspectives among our 50,000 employees. W e strive to
be a place where all colleagues feel supported and inspired to bring their whole selves to work. That’s why we’re putting a renewed focus on
our Inclusion & Diversity strategy, which aims to inspire innovation through action in three core areas: culture, talent and communities.
We’re already making progress. Our commitments to Quest for Health Equity and Choose Healthy Life are beginning to help address health
disparities and deliver critical testing in the Black community. Our recent score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2021
Corporate Equality Index demonstrates that Quest fosters a safe and supportive environment for all employees, regardless of sexual
orientation or identity.
As we continue our Inclusion & Diversity journey, our focus is on developing common
understanding and amplifying voices in our Quest community. We’re excited to share the initiatives
below as part of our Inclusion & Diversity strategy, with more to be announced throughout the
year.
• Our first-ever Quest Inclusion & Diversity Council brings together 18 Quest leaders of
diverse backgrounds to help drive Inclusion & Diversity priorities and ensure its alignment with our company strategy. Cathy Doherty,
SVP, Clinical Franchises & Marketing and Karthik Kuppusamy, PhD, VP & General Manager, North Region, are the Council’s executive
sponsors.
• You asked for more resources to drive understanding around Inclusion & Diversity, and we’re proud to be launching the first of our new
Inclusion & Diversity trainings. This introductory session about diversity, equity and inclusion, is aimed to help develop a common
understanding of these topics among all employees, encourage self-reflection, and initiate meaningful conversations. Look for an email
from EMPower coming soon, to take the first 20-minute module. Remember: You can complete trainings and courses on the new

It All Started with an Idea!
Project Innovate21 is a program designed to take ideas submitted by front-line employees that facilitate the reinvention and/or redesign of
Specimen Processing and implement them if the Innovate21 Core Team determines if the submission truly can help drive Operational
Excellence and is adaptable across the company. Earlier this year, Lakisha Mosely, Group Lead, Specimen Management at our Atlanta
facility, learned about Project Innovate21 and decided to submit an idea she had. In her submission, she wrote,
“Accessioning manual requisitions accurately is one of the tasks assigned to the Specimen Management Department. The
manual (A-Station) requisitions include more than 100 tests that can be requested by our clients at one time. My idea
would be to reduce the number of tests by half (displaying our top 50 most requested tests) on each requisition for the
following reasons:
• To display a larger selection box for clients to mark clearly
• To display a larger font size as smaller text can be difficult read
• To reduce the number of test missed by staff
• To reduce the number of handwritten tests on orders”
After reviewing her submission, the Core Team determined Lakisha’s idea was a great one and began actively working with the Franchises
and Compliance departments to determine how her idea could be implemented.
Congrats, Lakisha, and thank you for bringing your idea to light!
Lab Week: April 18 - 24
We are excited to once again plan a week-long celebration of our front-line heroes! Each year, Lab Week is a
special time to thank and recognize our lab employees for the incredible work they do all year long. This year more
than ever, our Lab Professionals truly are heroes and we look forward to celebrating each and every “avenger of
the laboratory!” See the below outline of just some of the things being planned and stay tuned for more details in
the coming weeks. Be sure you take time during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (April 18th — 24th) to
thank a lab employee for their commitment to the Southeast Region, Quest and the clients and patients we serve.
All Lab sites are actively planning and finalizing lab week activities.
A Grab and Go lunch will be provided for laboratory staff at each location, see local lab announcements.
Fun activities will include Avenger themed games, recognition and dress-up days.
Snacks will also be provided on various days, see local lab announcements for details.
A focus on Career Progression Highlights* during lab week.
*As part of Lab Week this year, we will be spotlighting employees who have made incredible career moves 5
while at Quest. If you know of an employee who started out on the front lines and has worked their way up,
please send an email to Southeast Region Communications so their story can be featured with others in this
special “Career Progression” segment of Lab Week 2021.

Volunteered in 2020?
Giving back to our communities is part of our core values at Quest Diagnostics. As we continue
to support our employees and how they engage in volunteering, we want to hear from you. If
you volunteered your time in 2020 (individually, or through Quest), let us know by sharing the
activities you participated in through this form—it takes less than three minutes! This
information will be featured in our 2020 Corporate Responsibility Report to showcase how our
colleagues continued to give back, even during this challenging time.
Submit your information by April 1, to be entered to earn 25,000 RecognitionQuest points
that can be redeemed for a variety of prizes, or donated to our Employee Relief Fund. You
can also review our Dollars for Doers program to learn if your volunteer hours are eligible for a $250 grant from Quest Diagnostics to be
donated to an organization of your choice.
If you have any questions, please send a message to [email protected].
Quest Colleagues Share How They Got the COVID-19 Vaccine and Why
Expanded eligibility and supply means more of our Quest
colleagues are accessing the COVID-19 vaccine, but challenges
remain. We talked with Quest colleagues about how they were able
to gain access to the COVID-19 vaccine, and why being vaccinated
is important to them. Click here to read their stories, including the
Southeast Region’s very own, Lavonda Bryant! Lavonda’s “why”
for getting vaccinated that she shared, is below.
Why is it important to you to be vaccinated?
Lavonda: “It was important to me to get vaccinated once I felt
comfortable. I did not opt to do so when it was first offered. After
hearing more and seeing more about the vaccine I finally decided
that the time was right for me to receive it. “

said in the video. "We've had shared sacrifice and as we all know
there's more work to be done. We've been in this together and we'll
get through this together, and when we emerge, we will be strong-
er, So thank you for all you do. Please take care of yourselves,
your loved ones and each other. And, of course, be safe."
