Adventure Starts Now
A message from your 2018 Core Team

Dear Mohegan Council Scouts, Scouters, and Families,

Scouting is a boys greatest opportunity for adventure. Where else can
he run free in the field and stream, hill and valley, without a care in the
world? For over 93 years Treasure Valley has been providing
opportunities for our Scouts to experience the adventure of Scouting.

This years adventure will take us back to a time of chivalry and bravery,
of dragons and knights! Our adventure will lead us on a quest for the holy
grail and a journey towards fame and glory. Only the brave pass through
these gates! So, pack your suit of armor and prepare for an adventure
this summer as our Scouts begin their quest for Scouting glory!

Our goal this year is to provide the Scouts of Mohegan Council with an
opportunity to grow as a person through exciting outdoor experiences.
Each program is designed to challenge Scouts or provide them with a
new experience or learning opportunity. Please take the time to explore
our offerings throughout the year.

As you know, we have made it our priority to collect your feedback and
address any issues as quickly as possible. We have spent considerable
time on improving our communications and informational materials.
Please use this guide to help point you in the right direction. Our new
website www.TVSRBSA.org was built with the unit leader and parent in
mind. We hope it will help you plan your Scouting adventures this year!

PrograCmusbfSor Ccuobust,

The most important part of the year,

Summer Camp is the best time of the year! Your Cub Scout will have a blast
with a week of fun-filled program in the majestic, woodland forests of the
1,600 acre Treasure Valley Scout Reservation. Take it from the founder of
Scouting who said, “A week of camp life is worth six months of theoretical
teaching in the meeting room.” Camp lets Cub Scouts get hands on and use
the skills and knowledge they’ve learned all year in real and meaningful ways

Day Campto develop valuable hand-eye coordination, interpersonal, and social skills!

Day Camp is fun! And it’s good for your
mind, body, and spirit. It helps you learn
to rely on yourself—on your own skills and
knowledge. When you go camping as a Cub
Scout, you get skills you will learn and use
more, later, as a Boy Scout. Campers are
put into Tribes of those of the same rank,
led by a dedicated Staff Guide who will
lead them throughout their week to exciting program areas like Waterfront,
Boating, BB, Archery, Handicraft, Scoutcraft, Adventure, STEM, Sports, and
don’t forget the Trading Post! Don’t miss out on an unforgettable experience!

camp and enjoy one of their meals with them! Campers will sleep in the beautiful
Fort Courage campsite overlooking the pond that TVSR continues to

Order of the Arrow

Pachachaug Lodge

For more than 90 years, the Order of the Arrow (OA) has recognized
Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their
daily lives. This recognition provides encouragement for others to live these
ideals as well. Arrowmen are known for maintaining camping traditions and spirit,
promoting year-round and long term resident camping, and
providing cheerful service to others. OA service, activities, adventures, and
training for youth and adults are models of quality leadership development and
programming that enrich and help to extend Scouting to America’s youth.
Brothers are chosen not for what they have done, but what they are expected to do.

Meaning “Turning Point” in
Native language, Pachachaug Lodge
was formed in 1957 with help from
Arrowmen from then Allogagan
Lodge of Springfield.
The Lodge Totem
depicts the mythical
Thunderbird, the most powerful sky-bird of all. The Lodge
has an average membership of 400, hosts three Fellowships
per year as well as attends regional and national events.

“Greetings! My name is Ryan Hale, and I am the 2018

2018 EventsLodge Chief of Pachachaug Lodge. I am beyond
excited about the year ahead of us. With so many new LLD

volunteers and ideas for our 61st year, I just can’t wait to get December 1-3, 2017

you all to our events so you too can have as much fun as I have April 20-22, 2018
had so far as an Arrowman in this Lodge.
For those of you who have not yet been Spring Fellowship
inducted, remember that the OA
was formed as the ‘Honor Society of May 18, 2018
