BUKU LAPORAN PANDU PUTERI AKTIVITI 2019-converted

SMK Gajah Berang (GBS) Queen Guides 2019;
Queek Fang Ying, Goh Jia Min, Lau Yun Yi, Peggie Teo Pei Yee, Tai Yee Jin

It was a long journey, a journey that carved
deep into our life.

We started our guiding life in the year 2015.
The reasons why we joined Girl Guide were to
build up our confidence to speak in public and
also to sharpen our leadership skills. We met
as a group of girls during guiding. We found
each of us as kind, friendly and humorous. We
just clicked with each other as though we had
been friends since childhood. We became good
friends after joining

several activities. There were ten of us. All of us were girl guides and that was why we named our group “pandukia".
We joined girl guides activities including camps, Thinking Day Celebrations and competitions together. We even took
the challenges to become Queen's Guides together. The most memorable activity that we had was the camp that we
joined in the year 2018 namely George Town Heritage City Girl Guide International Camp in Penang. The
participants of this camp came from 14 countries besides the 17 branches of Girl Guide Association Malaysia. We
spent 6 days 5 nights, joining several activities such as fishing, cycling, sailing and many more. Moreover, we also
went to the Penang famous Street Art and the Escape Theme Park. We took many photos and created sweet
memories of the camp.

Actually, the reason why we took part in those activities was just to meet each other and it brought us closer to each
other. We laughed together, slept together, faced challenges together, created valuable memories and most importantly
we learned and grew up together. Meeting each other made us happy.

The following year we took part in Bengkel Selalu Sedia (BSS) in March which is the last test we attended before
receiving the Queen's Guide Award. All of us made it and we passed our BSS successfully with sweat, tears and
blood. The moment we received the award, feelings of pleasure, anger, sorrow and joy flooded my mind.

Actually, there were some who did not support us in becoming a Queen’s Guide as they felt that becoming a Queen’s
Guide was a waste of time besides it would affect our studies. As what Madam Sio Pek Suan and Madam Ong
Ing Chien told us, "Never giving up is what separates champions from ordinary people", and this is the first lesson
we learnt during our Queen's Guide journey.

Madam Sio Pek Suan and Madam Ong Ing Chien were the ones who helped us without any complaints
throughout the journey and even throughout our secondary school life. Madam Sarena, Madam Siti Amina,
Madam Low Bee Seng, Madam Low Mei Hua and many more were our guiders too. They selflessly extend their
knowledge, experiences and shared them with us, taught us and helped us whenever they could. Our parents also gave
us their full support throughout our guiding journey. Sincerely, I wish all of them could be happy forever and take
good care of themselves.

Guiding helps us to gain knowledge, time management, skills and experience in leadership, communication, problem-
solving, group development and management, presentation and public speaking. We are glad to be Girl Guide is
because Guiding is a bridge that connects us; my friends and others. We took part in a lot of competitions throughout
our guiding life. There were wins and loses in those competitions. Yet, the biggest and valuable prize that we won
was friendship. We won each other during this "life competition". Thank God for giving me the chance to meet them.
Girls, May God Bless you All.
