Annette Harris Washington Best Dressed Model Emeritus Mrs. Annette Harris Washington was the general chairperson for our Best Dressed Fashion Show and Marketplace. She made sure the fashion show was publicized on the local news.Her tireless efforts to make this signature event a success will not be forgotten. She will be greatly missed. An Overview Founded by Mary McLeod Bethune on December 5, 1935, the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) is an “organization of organizations.” Disappointed with the lack of unity and cooperation between other African American women’s groups. Bethune called upon their leaders to create a cohesive body that would express the concerns and beliefs of African American women in regards to national and international af airs, The organization has grown to represent more than 4,000,000 women. It’s mission is to advance opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families, and communities. The NCNW remains an important center for researc and advocacy oon behalf of black women to this day. Best Dressed Model Tracy Abercrombie


racy Abercrombie was born and raised in Memphis, TN. She attended Mitchell High School and graduated in 1992, becoming a proud alumni tiger. During her high school years, Tracy as a part of the gospel choir and actively assisted in all school activities. She was officially named the Master of Ceremony for many schools, churches, family programs and fashion shows. Tracy is also the proud and loving other of two sons, 29-year-old Darrius K. Wooden and 16-year-old Taurick L. Boyd, III. She is also a motivational speaker. Tracy did not get a deeper appreciation for fashion until she was in her late 20s. All her life, she was surrounded by fashion gurus. This caused her appreciation to come more naturally than most. Tracy’s style can be uniquely described as “in a class by itself.” Her style is dominated by her eye for unique designs, causing it to come across as bold and adventurous. While Tracy is very passionate about fashion, her true passion lies in her desire to help those around her. She strives to always live true to her heart. Tracy actively donates all apparel to non-profit organizations and to those who are in need. She is a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star, PHA, Jurisdiction of Mississippi, Maurice F. Lucas, Sr., Grand Chapter. She serves as the Worthy Matron of Esther #17. Tracy also serves as the District Conductress and the Grand Christian Flag Bearer. Through this organization, she is able to actively give back to her community through community service, fund raising, and donating time for special projects. Even in her career, Tracy continues to help those around her. She works for the City of Memphis as a safety inspector, ensuring the safety of those in the Neighborhood Improvement Division. This includes Code Enforcement for Residential and Commercial properties; Ground Services who assist in grass mitigation of private properties, and Memphis City Beautiful, who works diligently to clean up Memphis. During her time as as a City employee, Tracy has been awarded Employee of the Month on multiple occasions and was recognized as the Employee of the Year in 2021. She also received the City of Memphis Shining Star Award three years in a row, from 2020 to 2022. Her job duties consist of the following: OSHA regulations and ensuring workplace safety, allowing her to bring her passion for helping others to even more corners of life. Tracy’s previous job duties were at the T.E. Mason Treatment Plant where she redesigned the facility foyer through her unique style. She obtained her CPR Instructor Certification to assist in training others how to save lives. Tracy believes that beauty is seen through the spiritual eye, allowing fashion to become an expression of one’s own vision. T


Dr. Antoinette Crawford Willis Best Dressed Model


ntoinette Crawford-Willis was one of three African Americans to integrate the segregated Memphis Ballet School in 1964 at the urging of her dance teacher, Dr. Gloria Venson and her parents, Robert and Delores Crawford. Dr. Willis’ tuition was later supplemented with an agreement that she would return to the black community in South Memphis and tach dance to children in the community, Antoinette’s college career found her studying dance and performing with members of the Mark Morris Dance Company, Dianne McIntyre, The Temptations, Rufus Thomas, An Evening of Soul Touring Company, and the Nubian Theatre Company. The University of Memphis is where CrawfordWillis studied and performed Helen Tamirls’ Negro Spirituals which were choreographed in 1936 as part of U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Project. Tamirls’ early female activism regarding women, African Americans and arts was highly regarded during that historic time period. Dr. Crawford-Willis studied and performed these historic pieces under the guidance of Professor Holly Lau and noted choreographer Dianne McIntyre. Antoinette found her passion in dance education later i life in Kentucky where she began writing her children’s book based on her mother’s publication about her father’s experience as one of the first African American firefighters on the Memphis Fire Department titled The Promise: A Pioneer Firefighter’s Story. Dr. Crawford-Willis funding awards and fellowships allowed her to tour as a teaching artist for Nelson County High School in Kentucky and also Europe beginning in 2000. She served as a Master Teaching Artist for the Kennedy Center for the Arts and facilitated teaching residencies in the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi for more than 15 years. Antoinette was later awarded fellowships exclusively for the state of Kentucky from 2001 until 2019. Her children’s book about her father was published shortly after his death. Dr. Crawford-Willis recently returned to Memphis from a 20-year residency in Louisville, KY where she served as chair of the Kentucky Alliance for Arts Education. Antoinette was a Master Teaching Artist at the Kentucky Center and also served as an Artist Educator and Consultant for the Kentucky Arts Council and the Kentucky Department f Education. She holds a doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Adult Learning Theory and Pedagogy. In 2019, Dr. Crawford-Willis celebrated her 65th birthday with a return to her roots as a liturgical dancer for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. Her final dance performance at the Cathedral of the Assumption in Memphis was performed honoring Dr. Martin Luther King’s memory. She received a standing ovation. Dr. A


Vivian Townsel Jackson Best Dressed Model


ivian Townsel Jackson is a native of Memphis and a product of Memphis City Schools. She is an alumnus of George Washington Carver High School. Upon graduation she attended State Technical Institute of Memphis and earned an Honors Degree of Associate of Applied Science and MidManagement Technology. She is married to Richard L. Jackson and they have three daughters, Karen L. Jones, Richara Jackson and Dr. Tonya J. Miller, eight granddaughters and two grandsons. Vivian is retired as a Senior Finance and Accounting Officer from the Memphis Housing Authority after 28 years of service. The position included oversight and preparation of budgets and analysis for Section 8 financials for the Housing Choice Voucher Program, Moderate Rehabilitation Program and the Section 8 Certificate Program. She was the Instructional Facilitator for Federal Regulation Implementation and as the Regulations Updated. She received certification for the HUD’s Government Accounting Procedures, Outstanding Employee of the Year and Month. In her community, Vivian is involved with the Tutoring Programs for both the Memphis/Shelby City Schools and Charter Schools. She served as a volunteer at the Union Mission and with service projects to assist public housing residents. She actively participates in the certification of Memphis Housing Authority Credit Union and negotiation of contracts. She is a member of Brown Baptist Church, where she is a Sunday School Teacher, host of a prayer line, a member of the New Membership Assimilation Ministry, Senior Ministry, VOMO. She serves as co-chair for the Disciple Ministry and the Prayer Ministry, Vivian is the Facilitator for Sessions-Prayers that Avail Much-Germaine Copeland. She received certification to teach Evangelism Explosion International, and the Coordinator for Georgian Hills Tutoring and Outreach Ministry. V


Dr. Zina Parker Best Dressed Model


ina Parker is the fifth child of Mr. Withers Anthony, Sr. and Mrs. Bell Zolia Anthony who taught her to trust in the Lord, always do her best, and keep right on her side. They instilled in her the humbleness, strength, and the power of faith to accomplish whatever goals she sets. Honor, courage, and commitment are values that continue to guide her. Dr. Parker, a native Memphian, graduated from Hamilton High School, LeMoyne-Owen College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education, the University of Phoenix with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership/ Educational Technology. Dr. Parker, a Special Education Educator, retired after 36 of service with Tennessee Consolidated Schools. She taught in the Memphis City Schools, Shelby County Schools, and the Fayette County Public Schools (Sommerville, TN). Currently a Tenured Assistant Professor at LeMoyne-Owen College, Zina is a facilitator of transformative processes. She performs several leadership roles and participates in Cybersecurity research projects, community engagements, and collaborations with many colleges and universities through the (PIT-UN) Public Interest Technology University Network. Dr. Parker, according to the personality survey has a Protagonist (ENFJ) personality. A Protagonist feels called to serve a greater purpose in life. Idealistic and thoughtful, this personality type strives to impact other people positively and the world around them. She rarely shies away from the opportunity to do the right thing, even when doing the right thing is not so easy. Elaine Perry Robinson Best Dressed Model


laine Perry Robinson is a Memphis, TN resident by way of Senatobia, MS. Born a twin and the eldest of 10 children, she is a graduate of Hillcrest High, earned a Construction Management Certification from Chattanooga State Community College, a Certified Administrative Professional/Organizational Management, Notary, and a State of Tennessee Life Licensed Agent. Elaine is a Senior Administrative Associate at UT Health Science Center and a former Licensed Insured and Bonded General Contractor, Subrogation Inspector/Home Inspector, and the Treasurer for West TN State UAW. She is the sole proprietor of ECS (Consulting and Project Management Services) and a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. She serves as a lead in operations with The Invitation, Fresh Ideas Entertainment, and World Wine and Jazz Entertainment. Mrs. Robinson serves on several committees where she is employed, the Employee Relations Committee, the Lichterman Award Committee, the Employee Search Committee, The College of Health Professions New Strategic Planning Committee, and the UTHSC Women’s Resource Group Committee. Elaine is also a current member of the Silver Fox Fashion Models. Elaine is the wife of over 42 years to Reginald Anthony Robinson, Sr. They have five sons. Thadeus Perry, Lt. Malcolm Robinson, Theron Robinson, Titus Robinson, and Dr. Reginald Robinson, Jr. An extrovert, she enjoys time with her family, charity events, traveling, concerts, festivals, movies, skating, bike riding, singing, dancing, walking, swimming, jet skiing, and horseback riding.
