All In It Together
In March of this year, the realm of government service, together
with other sectors and industries, were set aback with the spread of the
respiratory virus COVID-19. Our national government had imposed
community quarantine and encouraged alternative work arrangements to
safeguard everyone’s health.
To ensure the well-being of DILG R-III personnel, the Regional
Management decided to integrate and advocate mental health initiatives
for its human resource to ensure that every employee is consciously
aware of mental health issues.
The program “Mental Wellness Series: DILG Region 3 Personnel
Rediscovering Selves Amid the Pandemic towards Sound Mental Health”
was conceptualized in August-September 2020. Initially, only an online
seminar on mental health and psychosocial support was thought of. But
realizing the need for deeper understanding on mental health, the
Department was able to develop a program that focuses on taking care of
the self and others.
The Stress Management Workshops entitled “Better Together:
Managing Energy to Avoid Exhaustion and Burnout “ and “Mindfulness
Practice to Build Mental Resilience” were conducted on October 13 and
