The City of Balanga in Bataan and the Municipality of Baliwag in Bulacan were hailed as national top performers for the city and municipality category of the MANILA BAYani Awards and Incentives 2022 during the national awarding ceremony held on December 13, 2022 at Luxent Hotel, Quezon City. The award is the highest honour given to local government units championing best environmental practices in support to the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation and Preservation Program (MBCRPP). Both local government units are consistent regional top performers on the implementation of MBCRPP but this year marks the first year that both LGUs were concurred as national top performers. : REV UP DILG Region III’s unique capacity development intervention program entitled “Strengthening Finances at the Local Level: Capacitating LGUs in Local Economic Development,” or commonly known as STELLAR: REV-UP, was conducted on August 25-26, 2022. It was strategically designed to promote Local Economic Development (LED). Said program was handcrafted to provide interventions and resources to local government units, improve their capacities to drive the local economic process and ensure better conditions for economic growth, employment generation, and quality life for all. Over the span of 2-days, participating LEDIPOs, Treasurers, Assessors, and Budget Officers from the 44 Cities and Municipalities were trained on the fundamental modules of LED, including how to enhance and revamp existing LED capacities of their respective LGUs. A turnover ceremony was conducted on September 26, 2022, to welcome DILG Region 3’s new Regional Director Atty. Anthony C. Nuyda and to express the team’s gratitude to former Regional Director Karl Caesar R. Rimando. In his acceptance speech, RD Nuyda said that it is an honor to be given the opportunity to lead the region and that through the collaborative efforts of everyone, he envisions Region 3 to continuously be the BEST region in the DILG’s performance scorecards. DILG R-3 was once again ranked as the Best Office in the FY 2020 Performance-Based Bonus ratings in the DILG Local Government Sector.
