Mosque's name: Fatima Mosque
Background Information: > Importance and relevance of our project and its results : The importance of this project is high. This project will lend us a couple of marks for our report card > Why did we choose to build the selected mosque model : There is no interesting story behind why we decided on this mosque model. Everyone was tasked to search for a simple yet interesting mosque on the internet so we could have a model. After a bit of searching, options, and voting, we came down to what we chose now. > What is the mosque that inspires our mosque model : Unfortunately, our mosque wasn 't inspired by any mosques. It was selfdiscovered by one of the members of the group which is Auni !
Infrastucture State the facilities and amenities in the mosque included in the model. Explain each facility accordingly. The playground that the mosque includes can really help parents who go to the mosque with their kids. The playground can easily distract the children and keep them occupied while their parents perform the daily prayers. > Playground : The parking lot is useful so that people can easily park in the mosques territory instead of parking wherever their heart desires or maybe on someone else ' s property. > Parking lot :
Infrastucture State the facilities and amenities in the mosque included in the model. Explain each facility accordingly. A washroom is essential to have in any place, especially for women. Women have more things to check before praying than men, so having a close by washroom is really helpful and makes one ' s life easier. > Washroom : The pond is just an additional decoration to the garden. The pond consist of a few frogs and koi fishes living under the water. It' s also a distraction for the children, however there must be a supervisor with the child incase of any accidents. > Pond :
Infrastucture State the facilities and amenities in the mosque included in the model. Explain each facility accordingly. The small library is located right by the entrance, in the smaller building. The library consists of Islamic books and Qur ' ans for the community to use. Sometimes, community meetings and classes are held there. > Small library :
Infrastucture State the most prominent feature of a mosque? Explain. The mosque is almost mostly made up of the ginormous Qubba. Qubba is also a symbolic representation of the vault of heaven. > Qubba > Minaret Generally used to project the Muslim call to prayer, but they also served as landmarks and symbols of Islam ' s presence. > Minbar A pulpit in a mosque where the Imam (leader of prayers) stands to deliver sermons (khutbah). > Ablution area (Wudhu') A dedicated space for performing ritual cleansing before Muslim prayer.
History, Geography and Societal Compare the architecture of the mosque from three different mosques > Masjid Ar Rahman, Kelantan Masjid Ar Rahman is entirely made out of wood. It is inspired by the traditional malay houses > Masjid Safinatun Najah, Indonesia It is uniquely shaped like a boat and it does not look like a Masjid at all. It looks more like a boat museum. > Masjid Safinatun Najah, Indonesia The whole mosque is green in colour. It lits up at night with green lighting. The mosque is made out of glass so it is also known as the glass mosque
History, Geography and Societal How demographic influences the architecture/ structure of the mosque > Location The mosque is located in Kuwait which is in the middle east. The buildings in the middle east have Islamic architecture, Iranian architecture and Ottoman architecture > Capacities Since Kuwait is a small country and the people who live in Abdullah Al-Salem are just about 13,000+ people, the mosque is built small. The mosque can fit up to 62% of the people living in Abdullah Al-Salem, Kuwait.
History, Geography and Societal How demographic influences the architecture/ structure of the mosque > Climate In Kuwait, it is hot most of the time. The reason why the qubba is shaped like big cone might be because it has more space and air that can enter so people in the mosque won 't feel hot or suffocating. > Income Abdulla Al-Salem is an area of Kuwait City. It is known to be one of the areas where the wealthiest of the families of Kuwait live alongside Faiha, Shuwaikh, Nuzha, Kaifan, and Shamiyah. That is why the mosque itself looks luxurious on the inside.
History, Geography and Societal Identify the function/use of mosques in the society > To perform solah in congregation which causes a tighter silaturrahim bond between us > To do religious activities and encourage others to do together we might be known by everyone in a good way > To do the slaughtering during Eid ul-Adha slaughtering is easier done together than alone > To spread Islam wider and increase the amount of people going to mosques > To have a clean place to perform solah We will be less bothered thinking about the cleanliness of the place and we can be khusyu ' (concentrate) during our solah > To ease others when they want to perform solah Because we already know that mosques are for Muslims to pray and it is very common to be found anywhere
Avoid talking about the dunya “Whoever talks about worldly matters in mosques or a mosque, then Allah SWT will invalidate his deeds for 40 years.” 5. BEFORE DURING AFTER Mosque building journey
BEFORE DURING AFTER Before we started our billion-dollar project, we of course made some research on the model. We also invested in some items, majority of the items being soft-clay. You can refer the first two pages of ICT to know our list of items bought and used. We made a sketch of the model and began planning on how we wanted to bring our modelto life. Mosque building journey We started the project by doing the base first using carboards. We did the doors and the floor. We also did the base for minaret and also the Quba. Though, we had to redo the Quba again since the first time failed. The base were painted and later on, we key in the details to the stuffs. When all of the things have been finalized and detailed, it is time to finally assemble the parts of the mosque. The Quba is detachable so that teachers can see the inside of the mosque.
We decided on our group by using the Spin The Wheel website, and adding the whole class's names onto the wheel, which then our teacher spins and reveals our group. How did you decide group How do you plan on doing the flipbook We plan on doing the flipbook by first making the context in the app/website called CANVA which then is converted into a flipbook using Anyflip.com. Theme of the flipbook ? The theme of our flipbook is Aesthetic. It is a mix of green and brown aesthetic.
In order to make our flipbook happen, two softwares were needed. The software we used were Canva and AnyFlip. We used Canva to make the context and pages. After, we used the Anyflip website to convert our pages into a flipbook!!. Software you use to create flipbook? Problems we faced to complete PBL One of the problems we faced was it was difficult for us to meet up all together since not everyone was free at the same time and some have strict parents which makes it harder to meet up somewhere. So we really had to plan everything properly and work with whatever we could.
We did not really allocate tasks between each other but we did the project at school together. Everyone had their own specialty so we decided, whatever you're good at doing, that's what you'll be tasked to do, with some help from others. During weekends, meeting plans were made for those who can meet up and continue the project. For those who were not able to help to continue the project, they would help to continue with the flipbook. We made sure that everyone gets to do something even if it was a bit. For us, if everyone in the group participated in the project even if some only did a bit of the project, we consider it as helping. How we allocate work between eachother
Conclusion based on 3D Mosque activity. What did we get/learn? Firstly, we would like to conclude that architecting is not an easy task, we salute those that took architecture as a major. Second, we understood that if you work in a team, when everyone is tasked to do a certain part of the project, and those team members put in the actual effort, it can be done in no time. Time management is also an important role in making projects, especially as a group, we're not always together so having time management can help us estimate and plan when we can work together. Also, if another group asks for some help or asks to borrow a few stuff from your group, lend whatever you can, even if it's not big. Don't expect something in return because think about the good deeds you just got. Help others and others will help you, or maybe it's not them that'll help you, but Allah SWT. Lastly, it was a disastrous journey, our section of the class looked like a landfill while crafting the mosque. Almost felt like building a real-life mosque.
