4 Tots Programs

Creative Play & Active Exploration

Creative Movement & Tumbling (Ages 3-5): Tots improve balance, coordination, and social
skills through creative movement and tumbling basics. Each week tots will engage in a
structured routine incorporating fitness, tumbling, dance, balance beam, and games.

Strider Camp (Ages 2-4): Little tykes can learn the basics of riding from balance and steering,
stopping, and bike safety on a balance bike without pedals.

Karate (Ages 5-12): Youth of all levels will learn the basics of karate and self-defense through
routines that will help youth to enhance coordination skills, self-discipline, and memorization.

routines, introduction to vaulting, and beam work.

incorporating a variety of fitness routines, popular PE games, nutrition 101, and body image.
Mt Garfield middle school students can meet the Rec Shuttle outside of the school at 3:00 PM.

Harry Potter Yoga (Ages 10 and up): Hogwarts of Palisade invites Muggles to dress in their
house colors, practice their Patronus, and get ready to cast spells with a wizarding yoga session.
Participants will be fitted for wands before the session starts.

Active Minds

Walk to School Day : October is National Walk to School Month. Taylor students and their
families are invited to meet at the Palisade Community Center and walk to school as a huge
group. Palisade Fire and EMS will be on site with fleet vehicles for a touch a truck experience.

Fees: FREE and Participants receive stickers for walking

Pirate Party Treasure Hunt (6-11): Youth are invited to venture through uncharted obstacles,
solving clues that will lead them to the treasure. Participants are encouraged to dress in
costume as they scavenge through the Palisade downtown area.

Location: Drop off & Pick up will be at the Palisade Community Center

Group Size: 4-12

Art Camp (6th-8th Grade): Middle School students are invited to get their hands messy and
learn about multi-media art through a four week program incorporating pottery and mosaics
with glass. Palisade Rec is offering after school shuttle transportation for Mt Garfield
Students, who can meet at 3:00 PM and then shuttle to the program site.

Early Release Programs: Wednesdays 2:00 PM-4:30 PM. After school pick up is available
for Taylor Elementary students at 1:50 PM. Youth from other schools are welcome to join, but
are responsible for their own transportation. Participants should pack a snack and water.

Fall into Action: Keep kids active and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of the fall season through a
variety of team building games, scavenger hunts, and fall themed games.

Science Camp: Participants will venture back to medieval times as they build trebuchets and catapults,
become mad scientists as they make slime and other icky concoctions, and learn about the human body
with experiments that show how the heart, lungs, veins, and arteries work.

Fitness & Nutrition: Kids will learn about health and nutrition through a variety of active games, fitness
activities, balanced meals, and how to make easy healthy snacks.

Santa’s Workshop: Get into the holiday spirit with fun holiday themed games, customize personalized
gifts for family and friends, and a candy cane hunt.

Senior Dining & Personal Enrichment

Gray Gourmet Lunch Program for Seniors (Ages 60+): Meet new friends every week for
lunch in Palisade. Monthly programs and senior fitness are also part of the dining experience.
All programs begin at 11:30 AM. Diners may also meet early for dominos.

Reservations are required; please call 243-9844 X-1 and reserve by Friday prior to the meal.

Library 101: Get more from your library! Did you know there are a variety of online and
in-person services and programs are available at Mesa County Libraries. In this class you will
learn more about what you can do with your library card.

walking tours by volunteers from the Palisade Historical Society.

Yoga - Chi

Total Body Fitness: This class is designed to improve cardiovascular strength, tone muscles,
and increase flexibility through a variety of moderate-level impact exercise routines and
interval training that will help to burn more calories.

Yoga: Both classes are beginner/intermediate level classes that begin with a sun salutation and
end with a guided meditation. These classes are a blend of Iyengar and Hatha yoga, with
a short Vinyassa yoga segment at the end of each class.

Core Strength & Tone:: Strengthen the core, tone muscle, enhance flexibility, and improve
balance through this low-impact workout incorporating basic Pilates and Yoga movements.

Weights for Life:: Build muscle strength and tone using dumbbells, bands, and the stability
ball. Improve balance and flexibility with integrated Pilates movements. Low-impact cardio
movements will also be added into each routine to boost heart rate.

NIA Fitness: Looking for a low-impact workout? Try NIA a mixture of dance, martial arts,
and yoga; which offers a great cardio workout, enhances muscle tone, and improves flexibility.

Antiques, Art, & Coffee: Get started on your holiday shopping at some of the galleries and
antique shops in the Grand Valley. Then sample various styles of coffee at some of the locally

and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Bluegrass at the Blue Pig: Calling all artists! The Town of Palisade is gearing up for the 10 Year
Anniversary of the Palisade Bluegrass & Roots Festival, and once again the poster will
incorporate local artwork. All poster submissions are due to the Blue Pig by October 3rd.
The artist of the winning poster will receive $250.00, 2 (3-Day) tickets, Festival T-shirt, and
one copy of the official poster autographed by all the bands.

Fees: FREE Event - Beer, Wine, & Food. Winner announced at 7:20 PM on Oct 20th.

Glow in the Dark 5K: Enjoy a fun run decked out in Glow in the Dark, all while supporting
the CMU Sports Management Club. The 5K will take place at Harvest Fest, along the paved
path in Riverbend Park. This race is not-timed. Prizes for costumes and overall finishers.
