This Memorabilia Book is dedicated to the Northville High School Class of 2020. Each member
of the Northville High School Senior Class of 2020 received a customized and personalized
memorabilia book. #NorthvilleStrong

Shortly into the second half of the school year, the world we knew it changed. The Class of 2020 was faced with the
COVID-19 worldwide pandemic that ultimately and abruptly halted school including regular contact with their friends,
classmates and teachers. In addition, all senior year traditions, such as spring break, Charity Week, prom, last day
clap out, graduation events, and senior all night party (SANP). Our seniors were upset and disappointed about having
their normal traditions peeled away from them. As such, the SANP also known as the Parent Senior Celebrations
Committee worked hard to come up with alternative events such, as the senior “decorate your car” community parade;
celebrate your senior yard/porch decor campaign; “shoutouts” on social media; senior graduation movie video
(created by Ted Setla) and the personalized senior memorabilia book. Additionally, Mr. Koski, our NHS principal,
distributed diplomas to each senior at the main entrance of the high school where a decorated stage and photograph
stations were available for pictures.

The Class of 2020 memorabilia book was made with an abundance of love, time and effort. From initial planning,
format and layout of each page and compiling each of our 650 seniors’ individualized information, assembling into
each book to proofreading, publishing and distribution, it was an honor to pay tribute to this extraordinary class.

I want to thank everyone involved who helped make this memorabilia piece so special for our class of 2020 seniors. I
want to especially thank our benevolent and visionary SANP leader, Sandi Stevens, who made sure we pursued every
possible way to celebrate our seniors, and worked tirelessly on each SANP/Senior Celebration event, including this
booklet – thank you Sandi for your leadership, perseverance and dedication.

I also want to give a HUGE thank you to the Words of Wisdom team for their words of advice, hard work and
numerous devoted hours to help assemble all the data from each senior and completing for 650 senior books.

Dear NHS Class of 2020:

First, I hope your summer has started off well. We are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 5 to celebrate your
graduation. We are so proud of the Northville High School Class of 2020!

As you are very well aware, this has been a senior year that probably has changed you in significant and profound ways. You
mourned the loss of a classmate and friend for the second time in your four years of high school, you endured the pain of the unex-
pected removal of a trusted teacher due to his sad and illegal actions, you persisted through a pandemic to complete your senior
year while missing out on numerous opportunities; currently you are living through a time period in our country in which we are
facing the inequalities and civil injustices toward the Black citizens in our nation...any one of these challenges would be a lot to ex-
perience in a lifetime, much less all in one year. You have been and will continue to be shaped by these experiences; but just as
important as these experiences, has been your thoughtful and mature response, which will have had a positive and lasting impact
on shaping Northville High School and our entire community to better face the future and whatever challenges it holds. Thank you.

NHS Class of 2020, I commend you and am so proud of you! The leadership, character, and empathy that you have shown was
certainly needed this past year. You were role models of grace and perseverance for others to follow. You have defined terms like
“grit” and “resilience.” You are simply the best!!

You had an incredible four years at NHS with so many successes--always remember your accomplishments and the legacy you have
left at NHS. I would hope that you, as well as the staff and administration of NHS, do not allow the challenges of this past year to
define us, but that instead we utilize these experiences to help shape us and make us all better people. I want to again let you
know that we share so much pride in everything you have achieved over the past four years, regardless of the obstacles. Now it is
time for you to move on to be leaders in your collegiate, military, professional, and family lives; I have unending faith in you today
and in your successes of tomorrow.

NHS Class of 2020, I personally want to thank you for making me a better person, and I celebrate everything you have already
achieved. We are looking forward to what awesome things you will do to make our world a better place. Go Stangs!!! And as for-
mer Athletic Director Bryan Masi always says, “Once a Mustang, always a Mustang.”

CUSTARD TIME

KNOWN FOR: Soft serve ice cream and frozen custard from window service. There are
always crowds after local sporting events but the two lines move pretty quickly.
FAVORITES: Oreo Flurry and Twist soft serve cone.

FISH HATCHERY

KNOWN FOR: The site of the park was one of the largest and most
successful fish hatcheries in the United States. Beginning in 1874, the Fish
Hatchery bred salmon, trout, and whitefish. It elevated Northville to national
prominence. By the late 1930s, the operation closed.
FAVORITES: Today, favorite pastimes at the park include fishing, walking around
the pond, playing baseball in the fields, frolicking on the playscape, eating under
the gazebo and serving it up on the tennis courts.

KNOWN FOR: The stream running through the back of the property with lots
of ducks paddling around, craft vendors and the play train structure.

Dear Class of 2020,

It bears repeating: this is not the experience we all wanted you to have in marking the end of four years at Northville High School.
Your Senior All Night Party (SANP), comprised of senior and junior parents, traditionally plans the celebratory party after
graduation. And by now, you know, as well as we do, that while that didn’t happen, YOU are still worthy of celebration. We hope
that if you joined us for the senior car parade in May 2020, you felt the unwavering love and support of each of us as well as your
Northville family, friends and community. We hope that this commemorative book gives you something tangible to represent
those feelings as you move ahead on your path.

We know that this journey has been incredibly difficult for many. And we wouldn’t presume to adequately capture or accurately
reflect those or any other feelings for each of you because you are each unique. We’ve all heard several words, time and time
again, to describe the Northville High School Class of 2020: resilient, strong, brave. While your SANP couldn’t agree more with
those sentiments, we wanted to offer a slightly different perspective. We want you to know that we also admire and honor your
individuality, your passion and your empathy. And as you move into the next phase of life, we ask that you carry those traits with
you. Our world needs each of you: your voice filled with advocacy; your spirit brimming with action; your heart dedicated to lifting
others up. With that in mind, we want to offer you a few “don’ts” rather than the traditional “do’s” as you leave NHS:

• Don’t think you are alone: No matter what you may feel in a moment, a day, a week, a month or longer, there are people to

call your home who will buoy you and love you without condition.

• Don’t let people label you: Be you whatever that looks like to you as long as it feels right for you.
• Don’t let achievements be the only way you define yourself: That puts an immense amount of pressure on you. Life is more

than a resume; don’t live it only on paper.

• Don’t undervalue yourself: Each of you brings color to this world and YOU. ARE. IMPORTANT. AND. WORTHY.
• Don’t forget to reach out: People need people, in some way or shape. Don’t assume they don’t.
• Don’t worry about getting it right: No matter what your future path looks like, it will have twists and turns and that’s okay.

Make it your own, learn from mistakes and have fun along the way.
Most importantly, we want you to be kind not only to others, but also to yourself. “Be kind to yourself and then your kindness will
fill the world.”

As your SANP team, we couldn’t be more proud of each of you. As your parents, we learn so much from you that shapes us into
better people. And we know, with utmost certainty, that you will shift this world in a myriad of impactful and positive ways. So
march forward Mustangs, with your heads held high. Know that the Class of 2020 will always hold a special place in our hearts and
that we will always love and celebrate you.
