Carole Jurenko Jones International President
AOIIperspective
The beginning of a new biennium for Alpha Omicron Pi brings with it an opportu- nity for us to set new goals at the international as well as the local levels. While evaluat- ing the Fraternity's accomplishments over the past two years, the 1999-2001 Executive Board members targeted areas of focus they felt were important to build upon AOIFs successes.
With input from members of the Fraternity Management Committee, the Executive Board determined that AOIFs three focus areas for the 2001-2003 biennium would be Membership Recruitment, Membership Retention and Sound Financial Management
The next step in the process was to request action items from the Alumnae Network, Collegiate and Colony Development Network, Standing Committees, and Headquarters staff. These action items reflect how AOIFs volunteers and staff will sup- port and work toward these areas of priority.
Membership recruitment is the first area of focus. The goal is to increase the num- ber of members, both collegiate and alumnae, who pay dues. We also plan to increase the number of collegiate chapters pledging quota and reaching total. Extension will remain a priority as we strive to increase our chapter rolL
The second area of focus is membership retention. Our goal is for all chapters to have a minimum initiation rate of 95%. Additionally we will target a decrease of 50% from the past biennium of member suspensions.
Our organization states that one is a member forever. With that in mind, we must strive to do a better job of meeting the needs of our members. What do our members and potential members want that we don't offer? Do our activities add value to the lives of our members? Do we reflect a positive image for Alpha Omicron Pi?
Everything goes back to membership selection, which helps us to maintain the high ideals of AOII and further develop our chapters to their fullest potential. Always keep in mind that the fraternity spirit will be best maintained by well-chosen members.
Our third area of focus, sound financial management, will concentrate on educating
our membership at all levels - our collegiate and alumnae chapters as well as corpora-
tion boards and other volunteers - on the importance of timely financial support Wfe
will also educate our members on how their management of funds affects the
Fraternitv.
j
Fhiring the next two years as we strive to address these focus areas by successfully meeting our goals, I ask each of you to be an active part of our sisterhood by keeping membership recruitment membership retention, and sound financial management in the forefront As you set goals for your chapters, keep these focus areas in mind. By working together we can reach each of these goals. This fraternal effort will ensure that AOII will remain strong and viable for future generations.
Fraternally,
Carole Jurenko Jones

fraternity new:
From our President
In response to this crisis, AOII chapters, both collegiate and alumnae, are responding in a way that reflects AOHs mission. Our members are exemplifying their true sense of citizenship and leadership by donating bl(K)d to the American Red Cross, by making memory ribbons, and by donating money to the relief efforts. \ou can read about a few of these efforts in this issue on the alumnae and collegiate bulletin boards.
To date, we have not been informed of any members of AOII who have been lost in this senseless tragedy, however we do know that sev- eral of our sisters have lost loved ones. As we work to support these sisters, I encourage you to donate to the Ruby Fund of the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation, which provides financial assistance for sisters
It may be many weeks or months until we fully recover from these hor- rific events, but in times of crisis, we come together to provide each other the strength and courage to carry on with our lives as best as pos- sible. Like the partnership between the United States and Canada, the continental bond of our sisterhood must join together in this tragedy.
Uncertain times are ahead for us personally and as a f raternity, but by supporting and loving each other, we will endure together any hardships that are ahead. I encourage you all to walk in the footsteps of Stella, Helen, Jessie and Ress, whose strength sustained them during adverse times. May God bless each of you and your families, keeping you safe and secure.
Fraternally, with love,
Carole J. Jones, International President

Great Expectations!
To Dragma/FALL 2001
1')
Great Expectations is AOIFs new magazine sales program. By join- ing forces with magazine sales vendor QSP. AOII has developed an exciting way to increase rev- enue without increasing mem- bership and chapter fees. AOII will receive 40% of the gross sales from any magazine sold through
this program!
The proceeds from these sales will be used for scholarships and pro- gramming for Leadership Academy and Leadership Institute. We want to build on our success with these training pro- grams without placing additional financial burdens on our mem- bership. Fund raising by selling magazines will give us increased revenues to use while members give credit to AOII on purchases they planned on making anyway.
Did you know that the average family spends $135 per year on magazines? Given the pop- ularity of magazines and the ease of placing orders, this type of fund raising is a good fit for out members.
Since AOII receives 40% of gross sales, a magazine subscrip- tion costing $20 would produce $8 in revenue to AOII.
And current subscriptions can be renewed using this program. By marking "renewal" on the order form, your current sub- scription will be renewed at the proper time. You don't even need to know when your sub- scription expires in order to take advantage of renewing through this program.
Order forms will be mailed to chapters in the fall. Collegiate and alumnae chapter members should order by form to assure your chapter receives credit for the order. Alumnae who are not members of an alumnae chapter are encouraged to place orders via the online store at QSP.com. Internet orders may be placed at any time and the fraternity still receives full credit if you mark AOII as the benefit- ting organization.
We will be using QSFs "Pay Later Plan". QSP will bill each sub- scriber direcdy.
For more information, contact Julie Hacker, Conference and Marketing Administrator (615) 370-0920 or email [email protected].

Meet the 2001-2002 AOTI
These five young women will spend the next nine months representing Alpha Omicron Pi on our college campuses. Whether visiting collegiate chapters or working with new colonies, these women will be providing a valuable service to our chapters. They have been trained to assist with recruitment, new officer workshops, financial guidance, and risk man- agement issues, just to name a few. Each has completed two extensive training sessions at AOI1 Headquarters and attended an INPC sponsored leadership training program. The Fraternity genuinely appreciates the commitment each of these women has made to Alpha Omicron Pi.
Are you interested in becoming a CC?
Applications will be mailed to all chapters presidents by November 1. Forms are also available on Alphabink. The application dead- line is January 15, 2002. For more information, contact Jennifer White, CC Administrator (615)370-0920 or [email protected].

Only seven years after AOII was established. Founder Stella George Stern Perry, Alpha (Barnard College) attended the 1904 meeting of the Inter- Sorority Conference (which was renamed National Panhellenic Conference in 1911). AOII accepted the invitation to become the organi- zation's 12th member on December 15, 1904, but AOIFs official admis- sion year is 1905.
Each of the 26 member groups of NPC has a delegation of four members. As is the practice of many NPC groups. AOII also includes the International President as a member of the delegation, each of whom is assigned to a com- mittee. Through the years, AOIIs have served as members and chairs of many NPC committees and task forces.
WJma Smith Leland. Tau (U of Minnesota) and her husband established the NPC Fraternity Month Award, which is sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi and now called the Public Relations Award. This award is presented biennially to the col- lege panhellenic which has the most outstanding public relations program.

AOII is proud to be a member of the National PanheUenic Editors Conference (NPEC). In keeping with the outstanding cooperative efforts of this organization, we wish to thank Delta Delta Delta and Kappa

Louise Roller is standing front row, third from left.
In 1985, AOII presented $10,000 to the National Interfraterniry Foundation (NIF) to endow a scholarship in honor of Mary Louise Roller, Alpha Pi (Florida State U). Mary Louise had served for 33 consecutive years as a Delegate to the Conference and was Chairman of NPC from 1967 to 1969. The scholarship was presented for the first time in 1987 to a graduate student who, during her undergraduate years, gave exemplary service to her college panhellenic.
In honor of their shared Centennial year, Alpha Omicron Pi and Kappa Delta joindy contributed $25,000 to the NPC Foundation in 1997 to endow the "Something of Value" educational program. Additionally, they hosted a luncheon during the 55th Session, October 16-19,1997 in Norfolk, Virginia.
AOIFs current NPC delegation includes NPC Delegate Margaret (Peg) Kramer Crawford, Iota (U of Illinois); 1st Alternate Mary McCammon Williams, Phi (U of Kansas); 2nd Alternate Robin Mansfield Wright Gamma Delta (U of South Alabama); 3rd Alternate Linda Peters Collier, Chi Omicron (Central State U); and International President Carole Jurenko Jones, Alpha Delta (U of Alabama). These women exemplify the many varied contributions AOII has made to the National Panhellenic Conference throughout the years.

The VlSlOfl of the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation is to ensure the continuation of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity as we look ahead to the challenges of the 21st century.
The m i s s i o n of the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation is to fund programs, which promote the intellectual, ethical and leadership development of members of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity
and. through its philanthropic efforts, benefit the larger society.
Dear AOII Sisters and Friends.
These are exciting times for the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation! We made great strides this past year in accomplishing many goals, thanks to you. our generous donors. You cared. Because you care, the Foundation continues to move forward to face the challenges o f the new century.
Thanks to you, the Foundation moved into our beautiful and functional new International Headquarters building providing us with needed space to service our members.
Thanks to you, the Foundation assisted AOll sisters, the AOII Fraternity and the community by granting $151,818 in awards including $56,718 for 2001-02 Educational and Leadership Grants to the Fraternity, $22,000 for 2001-02 Scholarships to AOII collegians, graduate students and alumnae, and S43.100 for Arthritis Research and the American Juvenile Arthritis Organization. The Foundation awarded over S30.000 for Ruby Fund Grants to sisters in need.
Thanks to you, the AOII Foundation provided funding support for worthwhile programs that help collegiate and alumnae members develop leadership, educational and personal skills as well as providing training for their roles as chapter officers. Examples are the LeadershipAcademy that trains collegiate members to work in their chapters and Alumnae Adviser Training that prov ides learning and resources for AOII volunteers. The Foundation also pro- vides funding for speakers at Convention and Leadership Institute.
Thanks to you, the Foundation reached out to chapters with the Ambassador Program. This program coordinates sending AOII Foundation volunteers to your chapter meetings. Founders' Day, State Day, etc. for a short presenta- tion. Call the Foundation office at Headquarters to request the name o f an Ambassador close to you.
Thanks to you, the AOII Endowment Fund has increased to over one million dollars. This fund is the key to the future of AOII: it ensures that the AOII sisterhood will continue for future generations to experience. We invite you to join the growing number of members in the Second Century Society, a group of alumnae who want to ensure a strong future for AOII. You may provide for AOII in your will, through a trust, by naming the Foundation as a beneficiary o f life insurance, by donating stocks, bonds or other gifts. Call the AOII Foundation at Headquarters for information.
Thanks to you, a difference is being made for thousands of children and adults living with arthritis, and your sisters in time of need can rely on the Ruby Fund for loving support and assistance.
When you budget for the year, please remember the words of Sydney Smith: "The greatest of all mistakes is to do nothing because you can only do a little. Do what you can". Whether your gift is large or small, it makes a difference to a sister.
Whether you give to the Annual Campaign (which means it is unrestricted and you prefer that the Foundation Board select areas o f most urgent need) or the Endowment Fund, or whether you prefer to designate a special area such as Scholarships. Ruby Fund, or Arthritis, on behalf of the Foundation Board, we thank you.
Fraternally,
Dorothy Waters Williams, Lambda Sigma Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation President

SECOND CENTURY SOCIETY
Membership in the Second Century Society is open to a special group o f alumnae and friends who have made provisions for the Alpha Omicron Pi Foundation through a planned gift commitment. These donors recognize the need for the AOII Foundation to build long range financial stability by including the Foundation in their estate plans. Planned gifts can include insurance, will bequests, and trusts.
For information about how you can join the Second Century Society, and leave a legacy for future generations ofsisters, contact the Foundation office.
The AOII Foundation further honors sisters and friends as PATRONS of the Second Century Society, who in addition to their planned gift, contribute S300or more to the Foundation on an annual basis. We are deeply grateful for their commitment andcontributions tothe futureofAlphaOmicronPi.
A heartfelt thank you to these 2000-2001 SCS Members.

Originally conceived with the intention of educating seniors about the importance of the work of the Foundation and providing the opportunity to initiate a giving pattern. Senior Challenge reinforces the fact that AOII is for a lifetime. This year over $6,100 was received to help fund the Foundation's program services.

Alumnae RelationsActivities One of the qualities of a strong collegiate chapter is the strength of 'its alumnae sup- port Our collegiate chapters are always encouraged to reach out and build solid rela- tionships with the alumnae who assist them or live in their area.
Alpha Chi
W estern Kentucky U
Every year, our alumnae get together and throw a party for our new members. Last year they had a taco party and this year they are having a dessert party. Even though it is to honor our new members, everyone is invited. We also look forward to our combined AAC, alumnae chapter and chapter officer Christmas dinner.
Alpha Delta
U ofAlabama
Before recruitment begins, we hold an alumnae night where local alumnae can bring their families to watch our skit We have many who attend from all over Alabama in order to bring future legacies along with them for an evening of fun, ice cream, and a tour of the house. We pre- form a Brady Bunch skit, and all of the chapter members attend dressed in full six- ties and seventies attire.
Alpha Gamma
7:-.. • g::"
Alpha Gamma's best alumnae relations activity would be the annual alumnae appreciation dinner when we recognize our alumnae for supporting us. Also, alumnaeputonanicecreamsocialforour new members before initiation to show our new members that AOII really is sister- hood for a lifetime!
Alpha Lambda
Georgia State U
Alpha Lambda recendy held an alumnae brunch for all alumnae of the chapter. It was a catered affair that was held the morning of the Homecoming game. It was a great way for all of the new sisters to meet many of the alumnae of our chapter, and a great time for the older sisters of our chapter to relive many memories that they once shared with the alumnae.
Alpha Phi
Montana State U
We hold an AOPie night with our alumnae. We invite them to come over and make pies with our chapter members.
Alpha Psi
Bowling Green State U
During Homecoming, Panhellenic sponsors a tent during "Tent City," which is an event with dozens of tents around the stadium with other organizations. We have a cook out before the game and then head over to the tent where we can visit with our alumnae, as well as meet other chapters' alumnae. And of course, we watch the football game with our sistersto cheeron ourteam.
AlphaTheta
Coe College
Our chapter usually tries to coordinate alum- nae relations events around Homecoming festivities because a lot of people come into town for Homecoming. Last year we cele- brated our 30th anniversary as a chapter so we had an even bigger celebration. We had t-shirts made so that collegiate and alumnae members could wear them during our Homecoming parade. We also had a ban- quet dinner at a local hotel where we were able to socialize. A power point presentation of Alpha Theta pictures throughout the thirty yearswasalsopresented. Thiseventbrought together many AOIIs from several genera- tions. It was a great success.
BetaTau
U oflbronto
On September 30th, 2000 the Beta Tau Chapter celebrated its 70th anniversary. Beta Tau was the 40th chapter to be installed and the first Canadian chapter. Beta Tau officially celebrated this commemorative event on November 5th, 2000. The collegiate mem- bers went through much effort to organize an open house party and invited over 200 alumnae members to attend. Lovely invita- tions were sent out along with a letter requesting any donationstowardthe mainte- nance of Beta Tau's beautiful victorian style home. We experienced tremendous success, raising over $1500. The 70th anniversary party was an incredible opportunity for the reunion of old friends as well as a chance for collegians and alumnae to become better acquainted. Thanks to all who supported this proud moment
Chi Lambda
U o f Evansville
The best alumnae relations activity was initi- ated by Jamie Tibbs. She organized a picnic at one of the AOII's house before the Homecoming game. Members and alum- nae were able to socialize, eat, and watch the parade, and then go to the game together. After the game, the suite was opened for cof- fee and refreshments.
Defta
Tufts U
Each year at Homecoming our house hosts a bagel breakfast for alumnae and family. It gives everyone a place to meet and enjoy a good breakfast before the big game.
Delta Beta
U o f Louisiana at Lafayette Homecoming at the U of Louisiana at Lafayette is a huge event, not only on cam- pus, but also in the community. The entire week is filled with activities and is very busy time for the chapter. During this week we

receive a lot of help, support and ideas from our alumnae. At the end of the week it has been a tradition to invite alumnae to ride with us on our chapter float in the parade. Riding together on the float becomes not only a thank you for all of the hard work they do, but also a bonding experience for both groups.
Delta Epsilon
Jacksonville State U
Every year before the Homecoming game, we will hold an alumnae barbeque. We send out invitations a few weeks in advance, and we always have an amazing turnout. All our alumnae enjoy coming back and seeing how we are building on the awe- some tradition they started.
Delta Omega
Murray State U
Delta Omega developed a CD ROM which has a compiled history of Delta Omega and its members. It was a virtual scrap- book/yearbook, a must-have for any alumna member.
Delta Pi
Central Missouri State U
This past year Delta Pi invited our alumnae to our spring initiation. This was a great opportunity for the alumnae to again expe- rience Ritual and the pledge they made. Following initiation they participated in our Ritual workshop. Afterwards we held a reception in our house. There they were able to share their knowledge and memo- ries of A01I with all of our new initiates.
Delta Psi
State U of NewYori<
Every year, we invite our alumnae to visit us during alumnae weekend. Also, the new New York Capital Region Alumnae Chapter is beingformed, and we hope to have some events like Founders' Day and an alumnae appreciation dessert with them as well.
DeftaTheta
TexasWomen's U
We hold a "Make It Bake It" event together. We all bring items or food that we have made to auction for Christmas.
Delta Upsilon
DukeU
Each year at Homecoming, we have a brunch for all current and graduated AOIIs. We invite alumnae to join us in a bagel and orange juice brunch as we catch up with recently graduated sisters and hear stories from older ones.
Epsilon
Cornel U
Cornell holds an annual Homecoming week- end, in which alumnae and sisters attend a tailgating event, the game, and a delicious homemade brunch at the house.
Epsilon Alpha
Pennsylvania State U
The best alumnae relations activity we have is during Founders' Day when alumnae from our chapter come to a brunch. It's a real bonding experience and it's also fun to meet people who were in our sorority 20 or more years ago.
Epsilon Chi
Bon College
Every year the Epsilon Chi Chapter has an alumnae brunch during Home<x>ming. All of the alumnae are mailed invitations and all collegiate sisters attend. The brunch is held at the house and then everyone proceeds to tailgating before the game. This brunch is a great way for alumnae to catch up with old friends, while collegiate members meet some of their older sisters.
Epsilon Omega
Eastern Kentucky U
At Homecoming we set up a tent in the stadiumparkinglotforouralum- nae to meet our new members and to check out what we have been doing as a chapter. We usually have a photo album for them to look at, showing what we have done in the past year. This event allows the alumnae to catch up on what they have been missing out on. This event brings them back home to us.
Epsilon Sigma
Quincy U
We have an alumnae wall in our chapter room with pictures of our alumnae and let-
ters from them telling us what they are doing now. This not only lets the chapter know what our alumnae are doing, but also gives us addresses of them so we can keep in contact
Gamma
U o f Maine
We hold an event called Pat's Pizza Night! We invite Gamma alumnae to campus, and order Pat's Pizza, famous among the college crowd at L^MO. We sit around with alumnae and share our favorite AOII memories. This is so entertaining and rewarding for both alumnae and current sisters.
Gamma Delta
U of South Alabama
Our AAC meets in the chapter room at the house, so we cooked a spaghetti dinner for them before their meeting one night We were then able to sit down and visit with them during dinner. This was a good way for our entire chapter to get to know the alumnae who contribute their time to us.

tournament for all of the collegiate and alumnae members. Each of our members is paired up with an alumna as they try to cap- ture the title of the "Greatest AOII Golfers." It is a fun-filled day. For those who do not play golf, there is also a dinner afterwards. Trophies are handed out to the winning teams, and a slide show is shown highlight- ing the previous year. It is a time where we can catch up with our AOII history, share what we are up to these days, and a chance for the collegiate members to show our alumnae how successful the chapter is.

Our favorite alumnae relations activity would be our homecoming tent event We have the prettiest big red and white tent out of the bunch. We have lunch ready for all of our alumnae before the game. During the fall, our school hosts a day for families to visit their children on campus and to leam about the university. This day is also Greek Alumni Day. All of the sisters of Kappa Chi bring pictures and awards to place in the house in a very decorative way. Then we order some great food from a local restaurant The alumnae come to the house to eat lunch and to look around. What they see is the love that each sister shares with one another and they also see the accom- plishments we have made together over the years. Weare very gratefulforthisday because it is a wonderful time lor us to share how important .Alpha Omicron Pi is to us.

Our best alumnae relations activity was our annual Homecoming brunch. We sent out invitations and had the food catered by a local company. A U of Georgia stadi- um seat was presented to each of the alumnae in attendance. Collegiate sisters invited their parents as well, so it was a way for AOII families to get to know one another. This year, we incorporated the dedication of our new chapter room into the party and the brunch was a very ele- gant and classy affair. Shocked by the events of September II, AOII collegiate chapters are responding
philanthropically.
From Tau Chapter (U of Minnesota)
A national tragedy occurred on September 11 and, unfortunately, it effected Tau Chapter (U of Minnesota) directly. Our chapter advisor, Courtney Bernal, lost her father in the explosion at the Pentagon. To aid Courtney in her healing, our chapter has put togeth- er "Courtney's Care Box." We all filled it with cards full of support, pandas and roses and give it to her when she returned from Washington D.C. If you would like to send a card to be added to the box, please send cards from your chapters to: Katie Clark, 1121 5th St. SE Minneapolis, MN 55414. We also will purchase a tree to be planted in Courtney's yard as a way for us to honor her lather.
From Kappa Omicron
(Rhodes College)
Kappa Omicron at Rhodes College is
taking up donations from within our chapter from individual members. Leaders' Council has authorized the Chapter Treasurer to match those funds from our emergency savings account. Our goal is to have 100% participation, encouraging a donation of $15 each. If every member donates $15, we will have raised $1500, which the Treasurer will then match, totaling $3000. The money collected will then go to the American Red Cross September 11 Disaster Relief Fund.
From Delta Omega
{Murray State U)
Delta Omega has made a contribution to
the American Red Cross relief efforts in NY and Washington. Every year we host the Mr. MSU pageant in which all pro- ceeds benefit Arthritis Research. This year the pageant was held on September 14, only a few days after the tragedy. Our chapter had to make the decision whether to go on with the program or to cancel it. This was our chance to make a difference tor our country, so we pro- ceeded with the program. Even though no one in our chapter lost anyone person- ally, we were all gready effected by the events. That Friday at 7:00 there was to be a moment of silence and a candle lit to remember all that lost someone and the rescue efforts that we taking place. A l l Americans were to join together. Mr. MSU was starting at 7:00 and we wanted to join our country in lighting a candle. One of our advisors began the program with a message of love and patriotism, and someone sang God Bless America. She lit a candle that was going to burn throughout the night in honor of America. Our chapter decided along with advisors that the proceeds from the night should benefit the American Red Cross. We realized that this meant that we would have to hold another fund raiser for Arthritis Research, but the felt strongly they wanted to contribute to our country in this special way. That evening Delta Omega raised $5,600 for the America Red Cross and the relief efforts of NY and DC. We were all very honored to participate is something so special. God Bless America!
From Sigma Omicron (Arkansas State U)
The events that occurred on September 11 were a major tragedy and our chapter (Sigma Omicron) decided we wanted to do something to help out. To raise money, we held a window wash at Shakey's, which is a local ice cream parlor. We simply told the customers what we were doing and said that any donations would be greatly appreciated in exchange for our service. Almost everyone was most generous. We con- tinued this project for two evenings
and raised a total of $444.55.
From Nu Beta
(U of Mississippi)
Our university (U of Mississippi) held a
blood drive shortly after the disaster and Nu Beta participated by donating blood. On the day of the disaster, we purchased red, white, and blue ribbons to tie around the columns in front of our sorority house as a tribute to those who lost their lives and to our country. Lastly, we have a jar sitting on the front table in our house that is designated for donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. However much is raised through donations, the chapter is going to match that amount.

Idea Sharing-. Successful Fundroising Events
In this issue, our alumnae chapters share some creative ideas on how to have fun
while successfully raising money for philanthropic
activities.
Baton Rouge
Our chapter prefers an internal fundraising activity. In our newsletter we include a one month calendar with daily activities listed with monetary values. At our meeting the end of the month we pay the chapter the amounts we have accumulated. If members are not able to attend, they send their
fand we received a percentage of the ;ate proceeds. We raised approximate- y $500.00 with this event.
Bozeman
Survival Kits continue to be our best fundraising activity. Functional con- tainers such as totes, plastic shoe boxes, etc. are filled with wrapped nutritious snacks, beverages, desk sup- plies, f u n surprises, and notes of encouragement from the provider (parents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc.) The are sold for $20.00 by mailing order forms to names and addresses supplied by chapter members. Then our chapter creates, assembles and delivers. One project is done each semester and delivered a few days prior to finals week.
Buffalo
We sell jars filled with all the dry ingredients to make cookies. We sup- ply instructions on how to add the oil and bake.
Calgary
Casino Night is our favorite fundraiser. In a nutshell, we find a venue, hire professional dealers, canvass for prizes and donations for the auction, invite friends and family, dress appropriately, and have fun!
Central Louisiana
We have a rose and letter program. Because our chapter wants to empha- size that AOII is a lifetime commit- ment, we reach out to the new mem- bers of our local collegiate chapter, Kappa Chi. We mail a letter and brochure outlining all the benefits of AOII membership to the new mem- bers' parents. Families are asked to write a letter back to their daughters and purchase a rose from the alumnae chapter. The letter and rose will be delivered to the new member at initia- tion or during a special occasion by her Big Sis/Sponsor. Proceeds from this project can help our alumnae chapter better support Kappa Chi.
Central New Jersey
We hold one big fundraiser through either Tupperware sales or another cat- alog type sales. We also have a gift bas- ket raffle (3 donated baskets) at our Founders' Day meeting. This year we are hosting a Phantom Tea to raise money for both Arthritis Research and the chapter.
Charlotte
One successful fundraiser for the Charlotte Alumnae Chapter is selling Entertainment Books. These are coupon books for different restau- rants, movie theaters, and other busi- nesses in our area. We pass out the books at the first meeting and sell them for 2 months. Our chapter gets to keep nearly 20% of the profits. This is an easy, successful fundraiser for a small chapter.
Chicago City
We holda silent auction & raffle. The event last year was held at a member's home and we raised over $400. This year, the event is even larger and will be held on the DePaul campus. In our second year, we now have category chairmen - event, donations, food/bev- erage, entertainment and set up/break down. Each active member is given 5- 10 local businesses to contact for dona- tions. Donations are collected prior to the event so that a program can be designed listing gifts, cash value and name of donor. Members are also encouraged to bring in handmade crafts and baked goods. We invite members, family & friends, co-workers and collegiate chapter members. Our goal is to exceed last year's total.
Chicago N W Suburban
What could be more fun on a beautiful fall afternoon than Sunday brunch, an auction of craft items, and a raffle of baskets filled with goodies? The mem- bers of Chicago Northwest Suburban have held this a very successful fundraiser for over ten years. The food and craft items are supplied by chapter members. Other guests are included for the spending of money.
;y sen

In the
we have AOII Taxes which are due in April at our meeting. Tax forms are mailed with meeting notices and are
paid at the meeting or by mail.
Bloomington
Our best fundraising idea has been the chapter's annual nut sale. We have members who sell in excess of 100 pounds of nuts each. The chapter does very well with this fund raiser, but we are constantly looking for other alternatives.
Bloomington-Normal
Our chapter sells pecans. For several years, the chapter has had a great rep- utation for this project. We are also hosting a Pampered Chef Kitchen show fundraiser, and holding an auction after the holidays this year.
Bowling Green
There is a local event at Christmas called "Festival of Lights" which is a drive-thru light display. They need local organizations to work the admis- sion gate for a week. Two to three of our members volunteered each night
