Foundation Areas of Focus
& Strategic Goals 2012-2013
2011-2012 was an exceptional year for the AOII Foundation! We developed a Strategic Plan that provided focus and
direction for all our work. When the Foundation Board met this September to review our progress, we found that
we had accomplished so much, thanks to the generous and loyal support of our members and donors. We have a
new brand with beautiful new marketing materials, we ended the fiscal year in the black, we developed strategies to
communicate more regularly with our donors, we increased Loyalty Fund giving 37%, and we raised more than $500,000
on the Stella’s Wish campaign. None of this would have been possible without the loyal support of our donors.
Thank you for helping the Foundation Secure the Future of Alpha Omicron Pi. As we enter into the second year of this
biennium, we updated our Strategic Plan to reflect the accomplishments of last year and further focus our efforts in four
major areas with specific strategic goals:
Focus Area: Promote and Sustain the AOII Foundation’s New Brand
Goal: The AOII Foundation brand (logo, mission, vision) is recognizable to all members
Goal: Utilize Social Media to promote our Brand
Goal: Sustain an increased travel presence on part of Board and Staff
Focus Area: Achieve and Ensure Fiscal Sustainability
Goal: Expand and sustain the donor base
Goal: Annual giving meets or exceeds the operating expenses of the Foundation by 3%
Goal: Establish draw rate of 3½% to 5%
Goal: Enhance funding opportunities with AOII Properties
Goal: Enhance and promote a planned giving program
Focus Area: Increase funding to provide Leadership Development and
Educational Programming to Members
Goal: Increase number of fully endowed scholarships to meet the needs of our membership
Goal: Increase funding to provide quality leadership and educational programming
Focus Area: Enhance Board and Volunteer Engagement in AOII Foundation
Goal: Provide Board education
Goal: Establish a Young Alumnae Advisory Committee
Goal: Recruit, retain and effectively manage Foundation volunteers
The Foundation Board is committed to positioning the AOII Foundation to be able to respond
to Fraternity needs as they arise, and everything we do is focused toward that ultimate goal.
Your support helps us achieve it – thank you!

A Charming Gift
to all our Graduating Seniors
To celebrate the success of all of our graduating seniors, a program launched
last year enables us to present our graduates with a small token of our
congratulations. The gift is an AOII cord charm on an informational card
sharing details about how to become involved as a new alumna member.
The cord charms can be worn on the tassel during graduation and later on a
charm bracelet/necklace as a nice keepsake after graduation.
The collegiate experience is only the beginning of a member’s AOII journey.
A new and exciting world of opportunity still awaits our new graduates
through the AOII alumnae experience, and we hope every new alumna
member embraces that opportunity. Congratulations!
Stella’s wish for AOII over 100 years ago remains AOII’s
wish for her members today:
“May you have the joy in it all, dear children,
that we (Founders) have had all the way!
May you love one another as happily as we
four have done in a life-long fellowship
without a break! And may your descendants
in Alpha Omicron Pi bring to you the glory
that you yourselves are to us today!”

AOII’s “Heart” Responds
after Hurricane Sandy’s Devastation
The world watched on October 29, 2012 as Hurricane Sandy made landfall
near Atlantic City, New Jersey. The super storm tore through the northeast,
devastating all it touched with prolific flooding and eliminating power lines
which supported so many. Even now, the areas affected by the hurricane are
still digging themselves out of the piles of debris hoping to one day regain what
has been lost.
With thousands of sisters living in Sandy’s tragic path, many of which call the
hardest hit areas home, the sisterhood of Alpha Omicron Pi is holding true to
its promise to be a light to these sisters. On a local level, many alumnae living
in this region responded to the immediate needs of their sisters through hosting
a gift card drive. On an international level, AOII’s Ruby Fund is helping to
financially support these women in their time of need.
Established in 1946, the Ruby Fund has been termed the “heart” of AOII.
Fittingly so, this fund provides financial assistance to sisters affected by dire
circumstances. Our sisters bearing the brunt of Hurricane Sandy’s force need
our help to rebuild, and the AOII Foundation has devised a specialized process
for sisters suffering in the wake of Sandy. This specialized process will help to
expedite the procedures for collegians and alumnae requesting assistance when
they are victims of a natural disaster, ensuring more immediate support from
Alpha Omicron Pi.
If you are a victim of Hurricane Sandy and still need immediate help with
food, clothing, shelter or medical needs, please contact the AOII Foundation
at (615) 370-0920. Additional funds may be available for more long-term
rebuilding needs through the regular application process.
As a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, you can help to ensure assistance to sisters
in need by donating to the AOII Foundation. Tax-deductible contributions
can be made to the AOII Foundation by visiting www.aoiifoundation.org and
clicking on the “Donate Now” button.
