Autumn

Autumn is absolutely breathtaking in middle Ten-

our rolling hills are covered with trees beginning to

us smile at the very thoughts of hay rides, bonfires,
pumpkins, Halloween, Thanksgiving and football.

Photo Books

We have been fans of custom photo books for a few years now and they
just keep getting better. Available through online photo printing sites like
kodakgallery.com, shutterfly.com and snapfish.com, these books are great
ways to save your memories or share them as gifts. They are amazingly
easy to create, affordable and beautifully bound.

Exceed The Green Expectation

PRiN A Box

Your mother always told you that "Actions speak louder than words,"
and in no area is this more relevant than in Public Relations. In order
to build a strong reputation for your chapter and our Fraternity, you
must show a great appreciation for the values we were built upon.
Our founders held service as a top priority for this organization, and in
that spirit, we use this ideal of service to build a meaningful brand for
Alpha Omicron Pi.

In order to strengthen the marketing and Public Relations abilities
of our Fraternity and each of its chapters, Alpha Omicron Pi has
begun developing complete Public Relations campaigns centered
around service-related events or projects. These all-encompassing
campaigns are being referred to as PR in a Box. Last year, we
launched our first PR in a Box program with a new spin on an old
idea, the Panda Project. Many chapters across the United States and

Canada made this project a complete
success, collecting thousands of stuffed
pandas for the American Juvenile
Arthritis Foundation's Teddy Bear
Clinic or other local charities.
These were used to help show
children ways to manage the pain
of their arthritis in a fun,
child-friendly way.

The
Green
Expectation

ISSUE NO. 1 • FALL 2 0 0 8

We're doing our part,
and we want your help!

The Green Expectation Program

This year's projectfocuseson environmental awareness, an issue in which
AOII has long taken a stand. In 1993, AOII launched a waste management
educational program called R3: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, on the forefront of
the eco-friendly movement that has become quite popular today. With this
year's program, The Green Expectation, we hope not only to reinvigorate your
chapter's appreciation for our planet, but we also hope to supply you with a
wealth of Public Relations resources to be used throughout all of your endeavors.

The only way to create a strong image is to market your chapter throughout
the entire year. Keeping this in mind, we see the importance of good Public
Relations long after recruitment ends. Since Public Relations is a task needed
365 days a year, we have designed The Green Expectation to span a complete
year with twelve monthly events to get your chapter and your community to
embrace Green living as a lifestyle rather than a trend. These events can be
community-wide service projects or f u n sisterhood events for your chapter alone.

The manual is laid out in four parts:

Getting into Your Green State of Mind

This section gives you an overview of the program as well as a short
history o f AOII's stand on environmental awareness. This section also
gives several interesting facts that can be used to educate your chapter
on the importance of Going Green for a lifetime.

Finding Your Shade of Green

Here you w i l l find a short quiz to diagnose your shade o f Green as well
as a variety o f tips for integrating Green lifestyle changes based on your
personal shade o f green. Also i n this section, you can find a number o f
ideas for Greening your chapter's daily practices.

Putting Green in Your Chapter's Routine

This is the action plan o f the manual. This section includes a
promotional timeline that can be applied to any event you may choose
to sponsor. The twelve monthly event ideas are also included i n
this section.

Promoting Your Green Initiative

The Green Expectation manual contains more than just tips and event
ideas. I n the Promoting your Green Initiative section, you w i l l be
given a variety of traditional as well as non-traditional advertising ideas.
We also provide you w i t h a number of Press Releases, Participation
Request E-mail Templates, Public Service Announcements, and a
variety o f artwork designs for buttons, T-shirts, banners, and more!
Hopefully, you can use these as inspiration for other Public Relations
purposes w i t h i n your chapter and community.
