? Spring fever hit the Kappa Kappas

Marathon ever, one might think the Kap-
pa Kappas would taken a breather, but
instead they went on full force.

In the middle of the quarter the Kappa
Kappas were looking forward to one of
the big events, Closed Dance! Along with
Kappa Kappa's dance came the fraterni-
ties dances. When Delta Tau Delta held
their dance they announced AOII Kimmi
Semler as their new sweetheart. Laura
Chamberlain was in for a big surprise
when Sigma Chis announced she was
their new sweetheart.

Before Kappa Kappas left for summer
break they went out with a bang! It was
time for Lambda Chi Alpha's annual
Bike-A-Thon Race. AOIIs started off by
having a "get to know everyone" party.
The theme was set as shades-n-shorts as a
preparation for summer.

Near the end of the week everyone
looked deep into their closets and found
something to wear for the Goodwill Par-
ty. This was a warm-up for Saturday
night. O n the day of the race the Sigma

It was really f u n contributing in areas
ranging from public relations to person-
nel development.

And, believe it or not, it was even fun
creating speeches, columns, and memos
at the AOII typewriter.

O n occasion, each of us has asked,
"Are we having fun yet?"

M y response: "You bet we are!"
As wonderful and memorable as my
experiences have been, they should not
be considered unique. Such opportunities
for growth and fulfillment are available
to all AOIIs who recognize the many mu-
tual benefits of continued AOII involve-
ment.
They are available to all AOIIs who re-
alize that every rose has an accompany-
ing thorn or two, but that the beautiful
blossoms far overshadow any sticky
drawbacks.

time to recall special times with other AOTIs.

cumstances change, throughout our lives,
there is always a place for AOII in our
lives, and there is always a place for us in

I really believe that statement. A n d , at
this point, I hope it particularly applies to

M y previous AOLT experience has
taught me that once I get into a new posi-
tion, my doubts about my ability to han-
dle it are ultimately diminished. I hope
the same w i l l hold true as I assume the
role of a PIP.
Actually, I've had trouble envisioning
myself as a PIP. Since the title "PIP" just
doesn't quite seem to fit me—at least yet,
anyway—I've decided that I should be
called something else: Immediate Past
President . . . o r , if you w i l l , the IPP.
Whatever I am to be called, I assume
this new role in the Fraternity with excite-
ment and gratification. In many ways, I
know that the best is yet to be.
And I look forward to continuing to
contribute to the Fraternity's develop-
ment, continuing to build friendships
with the help of AOII, and continuing to
expound on the many mutual benefits of
commitment to AOII.

Let us reminisce for a few moments upon all that membership in AOII has brought into our lives. Four
score and nine years ago, Alpha Omicron Pi was founded.

And let us reflect upon all the improvements in the quality of life around us as a result of Alpha
Omicron Pi. Now, if we multiply our remembrances and reflections by some 80,000 members, we realize
that the positive influence of AOII is truly awesome.

At this time particularly, we wish our Founders could see how our Fraternity has grown and
developed through the years. We can be confident that they would applaud the innovative
programming, the Leadership Conferences, the professionalism, the Philanthropic Foundation, and the
prestige AOII has in the Greek World. But, most importantly, they would rejoice to see that the true
meaning of our Fraternity as expressed in the Ritual they wrote, is alive and well in our membership.
This is a measure of the true success of Alpha Omicron Pi.

At this time of celebration of our founding 89 years ago, let us take the opportunity to show our
appreciation to our Founders by renewing our vows and extending them into the world about us.
