One of Delta's many traditions is a fun crafts project that takes place during retreat. Everyone
draws a name, and then uses magazine cut-outs to decorate an item (tins, picture frames, etc.) for that person. W e then go around the circle and tell who we made our project for, and a little bit about how we personalized it
just for them. Sisters really enjoy it, and no one goes home empty-handed!

At Delta Delta we take
a lot of pride in our philanthropy. Our biggest event during the year raising money for arthritis research is our walk. This
year we decided to switch it up a little bit and call it "Run for Roses." So people had the option of running in the race or just walking at their own pace. The
winner of the race won a dozen redroses!Wehada DJ and tons of door prizes to give out. Our chapter was very excited when
the numbers came in and we raised over $ 13.000 dollars for the charity! W e had the best time doing it, and cannotwaituntilour next "Run for Roses!"

Most recently we participated in another fraternity's philanthropy. Most sisters donated a dollar that went toward preventing domestic violence. By donating a dollar we were able to put our hand print on a giant board representing the fact violence is intolerable and that these hands don't hurt. At the end
of the week we all par- ticipated in a walk called Take Back the Night. The entire week was a truly moving experience.

The best hands-on
project that the sisters of Epsilon Omega did was making Ritual key chains. We used different colors to remind us every day of the values that we hold dear to our hearts. After we finished making the key chains, we stood up and shared what the values mean to us.

Many of the sisters cooperated to make letter bags and candles for New Member Educator office. We painted a glass fixture candle holder and deco- rated them with roses, pandas, and hearts and gave them out to the new members. Then, we made
letter bags out of canvas bags for the new members by using stencils and a great mix of fabric It was
a great sisterhood activity and it got us all excited about what new sisters we would receive.

Our chapter decorated picture frames together, so we could all have nice frames to put pictures
of different sisterhood events in. This also made a great recruitment event because we could all talk and get to know potential members while doing something hands-on.

We could not be more proud of our recruitment this fall. The parties
were each diligently planned out for months and months. Our second party was centered around our philan- thropy event, "Strike Out Arthritis". The entire room was transformed into a baseball field. Our girls came together and created a giant wooden panda (used for a ball toss), cotton candy stands, dugouts (made out of
pep pipes!), and lit score- boards. It was a huge challenge, but the final result was all worth it.

We participated in a fun Ritual arts &craft project that was suggested by

During recruitment 2004, the women of Gamma Omicron came together to complete a tremendous feat. The sewing of hundreds of panda heads! These cloths are used
as the "craft" round of recruitment and serve
as ice packs for children with arthritis, which supports our national philanthropy. Not only was the sewing of these heads contributing to recruitment, and going to support a wonderful cause, but also, the time spent sewing and sorting was a great time for sisterhood!

As a component of formal recruitment, the lota Chapter, along with the potential new members painted head scarves for children suffering from Alopecia Areata, a dis- ease that attacks the hair follicles. To Pragma [ Fall 2005]

Two years after graduation, I began serving my collegiate chapter as Chapter Relations Adviser and then later as Chapter Adviser. I must say this was perhaps the best journey I have experienced as an alumna member. This joumey began with serving on an Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) with women who had advised me while I was in the chapter.
I learned that these women would support me both as an adviser and as a friend. They encouraged me and taught me that alumnae membership was, in fact, a gift.
One of the gifts 1 received was watching members on leaders' council grow into a group of strong leaders. These young women taught me the differ- ence in guiding them versus dic- tating. I watched them establish goals and achieve goals. I felt a great sense of pride when they were recognized at both the local and international level.
They showed me that Ritual was to be lived and not just read. They embraced learning as much of our Ritual as they could. I believe my understand- ing of Ritual grew because of this and, as a chapter adviser,
I felt very honored to have a Ritual book to read whenever I wanted.
One of the most rewarding things for me was to see chapter members learn that AOII is for
a lifetime. I am amazed at the number of women who have made the decision to continue their service. A number of these women have served the fraternity as chapter consultants, Collegiate Network Specialists, committee chairmen and Executive Board members.
The next gift was the gift of lifelong friendships. I must
say one of my most treasured friendships came from a col- legiate member. This friendship continues today. She is a person
who has been there for me for more than twenty years. She supported me and encouraged me when I lost my dad. She has been there to spoil my daughter (which she still continues to
do.) I feel very privileged to have served with her on the Executive Board.
Another gift I received through advising was the gift of leader- ship. This gift has helped me not just in the fraternity, but in my professional life. I've learned the importance of listening, guiding, supporting, caring
and decision making. I also experienced the challenges and rewards of working on a team and the importance of leading and not dictating.
My experience of working on the AAC certainly helped me when I served on the AOII Executive Board and now serv- ing on a Court Management Team. The ability of learning to work together and learning the importance of compromise has
served me well. I know I have the fraternity to thank for what I have accomplished.
The journey of an adviser has been one of the best experienc- es in my life. I have spoken with numerous other women who have served as advisers. Most will say the rewards more than outweigh the challenges.
I would like to encourage you and your service as an adviser. If you are already in that posi- tion, enjoy and treasure the rewarding and challenging times. Ifyou are interested in serving in an advisory capacity, talk with your local collegiate chapter AAC. I can promise, you will be grateful for the expe- rience. I hope your journey will be rewarding as mine.
