PAGE 3Dear Mustang Community,We are all very excited to welcome back all of our students and to jump back into Mustang athletics and activities! One of our biggest goals as a school is to engage students in extracurricular programs and help them understand the importance of being part of a community. It is essential that we maintain support and encouragement to all of our programs. Dedication to this goal, coupled with the hard work of our students, staff, and parents, has produced the excellent tradition of success shared among all of our programs. While championships and titles are great validation of hard work, we value the relationships and connections made between our outstanding Mustangs representing our school. The wealth of talent and diversity in our school makes BVN such a special place, and we are eager to share this with the world. It is what makes us a Mustang Family! It is our goal that Blue Valley North is not only a home to our students, but that you as a parent/guardian also involve yourself with the North Community. A great way to do this is to donate to the Mustang Fund. The Blue Valley North Family would like to THANK the BVN Mustang Fund for its continued support financially, as well as in their volunteer efforts. We simply would not be the successful school that we are without the support of our parent booster group. I strongly encourage you to patronize the businesses that advertise in this Activity Program and ask you to please support The Mustang Fund as it directly impacts our students on a daily basis. Your ongoing involvement and support are essential to the overall success of our school.I look forward to seeing you all at our Mustang activities and games this year, and it is my honor to cheer on our outstanding students. There are many positive life lessons that our players can learn from the sport of basketball, and I believe they can use those lessons to become productive citizens in our society.SEASON OUTLOOK: We have a lot of experience back from a 14-7 team. We have 7 total players who lettered last season and solid players making the move up from JV last year. The players had a great off-season and showed a lot of potential during the summer. It should be a fun group to coach and an exciting team to watch with a lot of depth and versatility. Our goal is to be playing our best basketball in March and compete for a berth in the state tournament. PAGE 28Years at BVN: 5th year at BVN and my 10th year in EducationTeaching Responsibilities: Health and Physical Education Education: Bachelor from Briar Cliff University in Human Physiology, Masters of Secondary Education from Grand Canyon UniversityCoaching Philosophy: Creating an environment where wrestlers genuinely enjoy the sport and feel free to compete without fear. I emphasize a growth mindset, encouraging athletes to focus on daily improvement rather than getting caught up in outcomes. I want my wrestlers to approach every match with a relaxed confidence that allows them to be creative, score points, and stay on the attack. Above all, I believe in building a positive, supportive culture where athletes push each other to grow while maintaining a true love for wrestling.Personal Information: I grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington and started wrestling in 5th grade and continued through college. I am married with a 2-year-old and have 2 dogs. I moved to Kansas from Washington state during Covid in 2021 for my wife pursuit to further her education at KU. We have both work in the Blue Valley school district for 5 years and have loved every day!Season Outlook: This season we are shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory. After last year’s small and very young team, we now have a huge turnout, which brings depth, energy, and real competition in the room every day. I’m particularly proud of the leadership emerging from our returning wrestlers—they’ve grown tremendously and are setting a strong example for the younger athletes in terms of work ethic, accountability, and attitude. The combination of numbers, experience, and leadership is already raising the standard in every practice. As a coach, I’m confident that this team has the talent, drive, and culture to make significant strides this season and compete at a high level.BOYS WRESTLINGCoach: Jacob SpadoniJeff Sallee [email protected]
