PAGE 3Dear Mustang Community,We are all very excited to welcome back all of our students and to jump back into Mustang athletics and activities! One of our biggest goals as a school is to engage students in extracurricular programs and help them understand the importance of being part of a community. It is essential that we maintain support and encouragement to all of our programs. Dedication to this goal, coupled with the hard work of our students, staff, and parents, has produced the excellent tradition of success shared among all of our programs. While championships and titles are great validation of hard work, we value the relationships and connections made between our outstanding Mustangs representing our school. The wealth of talent and diversity in our school makes BVN such a special place, and we are eager to share this with the world. It is what makes us a Mustang Family! It is our goal that Blue Valley North is not only a home to our students, but that you as a parent/guardian also involve yourself with the North Community. A great way to do this is to donate to the Mustang Fund. The Blue Valley North Family would like to THANK the BVN Mustang Fund for its continued support financially, as well as in their volunteer efforts. We simply would not be the successful school that we are without the support of our parent booster group. I strongly encourage you to patronize the businesses that advertise in this Activity Program and ask you to please support The Mustang Fund as it directly impacts our students on a daily basis. Your ongoing involvement and support are essential to the overall success of our school.I look forward to seeing you all at our Mustang activities and games this year, and it is my honor to cheer on our outstanding students. We rounded out our fall season with our Fall Concert and the new BVN Music Department’s Gala Concert. For the winter season, our musical, The Little Mermaid, was a resounding hit, our December Winter Concert was stunning, 14 students sang in the ECKMEA District Choirs, and six students went on to the state level to sing in the KMEA Kansas All State Choirs. We are ramping up for an awesome spring filled with our Spring Concert, Java-n-Jazz, Regional and State Solo & Ensemble Contests, and State Large Group Contest. We'll finish out the year with our annual pops concert, Mustang Showtime, on May 8th - come check it out!CHOIRSDirector: Jaclyn Krulik

Players perform best when given the freedom to demonstrate their individual strengths and creativity as long as doing what is best for the team as a whole is always top of mind. I don't want to try to dictate every decision they have to make on the field, they need to be able to make those quick decisions by relying on their own skills and the training we do during practice. I believe a strength of mine as a coach is putting players in positions they can be successful in, even if maybe it is a position they have not played in previous years or for their club teams.Personal Information: I have a beautiful wife, Fabiola, who is also a teacher at Olathe East, and we have a firecracker of a 4-year-old daughter, and my wife and I now have another girl, who was born Oct 27th!Assistant Coaches: Varsity Assistant-Bryan Kalaka; JV-Sara Collins; C-Nico NavarroSeason Outlook: Coming off of a great 2025 season where the girls went 16-3 and were nationally ranked throughout much of the season, the Mustangs return 3 All-State selections in seniors Lauren Freberg (1st) and Cate Jernigan (HM) as well as sophomore Evie Kincaid (1st) who was also named the 6A Midfielder of the Year! While we lost a large and strong senior class last year and have a very challenging schedule, the girls are ready to rock and take care of some unfinished business as we fell just short in 2025 of our ultimate goals of being EKL and State champions!

PAGE 32YEARS AT BVN: 15th year coaching tennisEDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts, Secondary Education (Mathematics and Business) from Saint Francis University, Indiana, graduated with Honors. Juris Doctorate from Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas, graduated with Dean’s Honors.COACH PHILOSOPY: My goal is to challenge the players to give “perfect effort” on and off the court and strive to improve themselves, in some way, and to be supportive, reliable and contributory teammates. I want to assist the players in becoming successful and highly productive young people and to teach and reinforce skills that will be useful well beyond high school, including an excellent work ethic, good sportsmanship, teamwork, high academic achievement, and having fun.SEASON OUTLOOK: Our boys’ tennis team has 32 players this season, with a large number of returning Varsity players, including 4 out of 6 players from our post-season top 6 players! In addition, we have several players returning to the Varsity, who are strong competitors and will lead us during regular season play and who are ready to challenge for a post season position. We are looking forward to welcoming all our new players to the team and are excited to start the 2026 season together. The team is focused, working hard, and ready to continue the BVN tradition of fielding highly competitive tennis teams.ASSISTANT COACHES: Deb Fabrizius and Kristen Stivers.PERSONAL INFORMATION: Coach Johnson is an avid tennis player herself, playing 1-2 times a week, and participating on at least 6 adult competitive tennis teams. She was a former NAIA Academic All-American in both Tennis and Basketball in college and was inducted into college and high school Athletic Halls of Fame for Tennis (high school and college), Basketball (high school and college), Softball (college) and Volleyball (high school). In addition to earning a law degree (J.D.), she also has a teaching degree, concentrating in secondary education, math and business. Recently, Coach Johnson was honored by being named the USTA Heart of America, USTA Missouri Valley and USTA Tennis Official of the Year. She currently practices law full time. Her passion, outside of her profession, will always be tennis. During her tenure at Blue Valley North, she has now coached over 1000 student-athletes over 30 tennis seasons. The BVN tennis team is a no-cut team. The largest team fielded was the 2024 Girls’ tennis team with 77 players! All the BVN tennis players have gone on to do great things in their lives and one of Coach Johnson’s most enjoyable experiences is when they check in with her and give her updates on all the wonderful things they've accomplished. PAGE 34THEATERDirector: Rachel CainYears at BVN: 5Day Job: Theater DirectorEducation & Qualifications: Mrs. Cain holds both a B.S. in Speech and Theatre Education and an M.F.A. in Acting. With 15 years teaching at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels, a former member of AEA, Mrs. Cain worked as a professional actress and director for many years prior to settling down in Kansas City. From the Michigan Shakespeare Festival to the Unicorn, KCAT, Coterie theatre, and more she is lucky enough to include interim Education Director for Heart of America Shakespeare Festival and KCYA’s Director of Arts Education among the highlights of her administrative opportunities in the KC metro area. Mrs. Cain is also a proud Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Kennedy Center Arts Integration trained Teaching Artist. She shares her love of theatre with her students every day and is so grateful for the support of her family, Brendan, Maggie and Otto Cain.Coaching Philosophy: I believe in the power of theatre to change lives and build relationships. When studying theatre, you study humanity. It is through studying a script or a character that you discover the social, political, environmental, and psychological elements that surround such a work of art. But it is only with a strong sense of self, both kinesthetically and emotionally, that we can explore other worlds and other characters honestly and creatively. In our work to bring these works of art to life, we embody, empathize, and reshape our perspective through another's eyes. This is a skill whose value, in today's ever connected and everexpanding world, cannot be underestimated. Personal Information: Married, two children, two pets.Season Outlook: To continue to be the share relevant stories, explore theatrical history and bring people together.
