Medicare
● Medicare is a health Insurance program
adminstered by the Federal government of US.
● It was introduced to cover senior citizens
above 65 years of age.
● It also covers youngsters with disablities.
Medicare Parts
● There are four parts of Medicare.
● The four parts are known as Part A, Part B,
Part C and Part D.
● Each part has its own benefit.
Part A
● It is a basic and original part of Medicare.
● It includes Hospital coverage.
● It does not include any premium.
Part B
● It is also an original part of Medicare.
● Medical Insurance is covered in this part.
● Premium is included in this plan.
● It has late enrollment penalty.
Part C
● It is also called Medicare Advantage or Medicare part
C.
● It has some added advantage over Medicare part A
and part B.
● There are many plans in part C, most of them include
PPO, MSA, PFFS and Medicare special needs.
Part D
● Prescription drug coverage is included in this part.
● It is only available through private health insurers
approved by Medicare.
● It has late enrollment penalty.
