AP Calculus BC Course:
-‐ Understanding of topics covered: numerically, graphically, and analytically
-‐ Using technology to solve numerous problems efficiently
-‐ Mastering skills to answer and solve various problems effectively

Evaluation:

1. Tests, Quizzes, and Projects = 80% of the Grade
Tests have a multiplier of 4.

Quizzes have a multiplier of 1.
If you cut the class and miss a test or a pop quiz you will get a zero. NO MAKE UP!

If you have an excused absentee, no pop quiz will be made up; no grade will be assigned.
If you missed a Test you will make it up on the day of your return to school during classroom time.

You will always be informed about the date of a test at least 3 days in advance and it will be given
on either Tuesday or Thursday.

2. Homework = 20% of the Grade
Infinite Campus will list all assignments as “Tests.” Please see the TITLE of each assignment to
determine which category listed above each assignment belongs to.

3. Class participation: will be assessed daily and will play a role in determining quarter grades,

especially when grades approach cutoffs.

Material Requirements:
1. Text book: covered and carried daily
2. Three ring binder
3. TI-83, TI-84 Calculator
4. Graph paper
5. Index cards: 4 x 6 inch on a ring or spiral
6. Red pen
7. Pencils and erasers or pens
8. 8 – 10 notebooks for the entire year
9. BLACK dry eraser markers + eraser (4 per month). Must have it with you daily.

Academic Honesty: It is reasonably assumed that all work submitted in the course is the work

of the student alone. All graded work is to be done by the student receiving the grade. Cheating

or plagiarized work may receive zero credit and result in further disciplinary sanctions per

Central’s Academic Integrity Policy.

Homework:
1. Assigned daily either through a quick check at the desk or through a quiz.

2. Recommended time you spend on homework:

45 min/night Monday – Thursday
5 hours total for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
3. NO LATE ASSIGNMENT accepted unless you have a signed note from a parent (valid reason, phone
number, and signature must be included); maximum 2 notes/marking period).
Tutoring: You must do your best to clarify all material taught in class: ask questions, call me at your desk,
etc. If I am unable to answer all your questions or come to your desk during instructional time, I will gladly
set an appointment with you before or after school.

Classroom expectations:
1. Be on time for class: when the bell rings you must be at your seat with your homework ready to
be checked
2. Be responsible, honest, and hardworking
3. Be in school; if absent you need a note that includes the reasons you were out; you must cover
all the topics missed and make up work asap. Missed Pop-quizzes will not be made up.
4. Be in class: ABSOLUTELY NO LATE FOR CLASS or CUTTING; you don’t volunteer, make
another test, be in choir, talk to another teacher, etc. during Calculus Class!!!!!
5. Seek help: teachers, classmates, multiple online resources
6. Help others who may need support
7. Respect classmates
8. Be out of the classroom for maximum 5 minutes and not more than once/week (please inform me
of any medical reasons)

9. Communicate with me first: I must understand your situation in order to best respond and
accommodate you. If you feel I have not done my best to support your academic and emotional
needs, then please follow the chain: Ms. Dragomir → Mr. Zack → counselor → Mrs. Gaughan/
Vanbuskirk → President McKenna.

These classroom expectations apply equally to all members of the class, including the
instructor.

HAVE FUN!
