DeDe Griffith, Vice President of Workforce Development for Temple College, has been selected as one of six community college STEM leaders across the nation for a fellowship designed to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and workforce development. DeDe Griffith Named National STEM Fellow by NSF CCPI-STEM An Advanced Technological Education grant from the National Science Foundation funds the CCPI-STEM Fellows program. It is one of several projects of the Community College Presidents’ Initiative in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (CCPISTEM) that aim to strengthen community college faculty and administrators and nurture their leadership skills to grow and diversify the STEM technician workforce. “It is an honor to serve in this role and to be able to bring new STEM resources here to the Central Texas region for our local community,” Griffith said. Griffith’s research is focused on developing a STEM talent pipeline from preschool to employment. Temple College was recently designated as an NC3 Leadership School. FESTO Master Trainer, Stefany Gurgel, explains the Stacking Magazine Station from FESTO's MecLab System- an instructional tool for teaching Mechatronics. The MecLab is a series of small, portable pieces of equipment which replicate the kinds of electromechanical processes found in an industrial workplace, allowing students in a classroom setting to get hands-on experience with the types of equipment they will encounter on the job. Plus a certification center for students with prior work experience to demonstrate skills for college credit and certifications.

A 100% refund will be granted. After the class has met a second time, no refund will be granted. For classes meeting only one or two sessions, a written request must be submitted prior to the start of class for a 100% refund. Courses that incur administrative and materials costs may only be eligible for reduced refunds, depending on costs incurred by the college. Payment plan set-up fees are non-refundable. An administrator must approve exceptions to the tuition refund policy. CLASS CANCELLATION If Temple Col lege cancel s a clas s , a 100% refund wi l l be granted. Each clas s mus t meet minimum enrol lment. To ensure enrol lment requirement s are met, paid regi s trations are required at leas t 48 hour s prior to the fir s t clas s day. The Wor k froce and Continuing Education Divi s ion makes every effort to notify s tudent s if a clas s wi l l not be held due to insufficient enrol lment. The DYD scholarship is a grant funded by the Texas Workforce Commission that provides eligible applicants funding for a variety of Career Pathways certification programs. As part of this scholarship recipients will navigate through three DYD modules: Success, Career, and Workforce Preparation in addition, but not conflicting, with your core program. Each of these modules is designed to give you the proper tools for success in both your primary course, as well as entering the Workforce in your designated field. Our goal is to celebrate your success in achieving gainful employment! DIRECT YOUR DESTINY (DYD) SCHOLARSHIPS www.templejc.edu/wce | Direct Your Destiny | Page 50 The DYD scholarship covers 100% of the cost of the tuition, certification exams, and various stackable credentials such as Basic Life Support and HIPAA training. Students are responsible for paying for their own background check, vaccination tracker, and physical fees (if applicable), but financial aid programs may be available to offset these minimal costs.
