An outstanding and joyous finale to the
Restoration Project of the Church Clock face

The sun shone, the Villages Voices sang, and the clock struck twelve as the new clock face was unveiled. It was a
fitting culmination of the efforts of the fund raisers and the very generous people who made its restoration possible.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Dot London, who has long been associated with the church, for agreeing to perform
the opening ceremony by cutting the tape.
John, Derek, Alan and Sue expressed their thanks for the assistance they received in this project. The support was
munificent and gratefully received. The stunning clock face will now bear witness to the commitment and
generosity of the community of Minster Village and beyond for many years to come.

‘BUTTRESS BULLETIN’

yourdictionary.com states that the definition of

a buttress is a support for a building usually

made of brick or stone.

‘Usually made’ … but not always?

In the last few months, it has become self-

evident that there are many villagers who are ‘buttressing’

the parish church. These ‘buttresses’ (if I can refer to them

as such!) have been so very generous in giving time,

energy, money; in showing kindness and sensitivity; and

in making valuable suggestions and seeing initiatives

through to really wonderful conclusions. Heartfelt and

sincere thanks to all ‘buttresses’.

The church has lots of architectural buttresses, including

four flying buttresses at the east end (Conyngham Road

end) which literally stop the north and south walls falling

outwards. However, it is the buttress support received

from the village community which the Parochial Church

Council [PCC] wishes to mention as being of huge, and Serving freshly made waffles,

In this Bulletin I am thinking particularly of:

A) the new clock face programme; how astonishingly

quickly that project has been completed – a real triumph;

and

B) the Open Gardens; the extraordinary willingness of

people to allow visitors to wander around their gardens in

support of the big building at the bottom of the hill. (Both Looking for a venue to hold your celebration,

YOGA FOR CHILDREN
At long last we can offer yoga for children, from 2yrs
to 11yrs right here in our village!

With mums, dads and grandparents nationally having
a vast choice of a variety of yoga classes, isn’t it time
the benefits were available to children? After all, it’s
not just adults that benefit from a regular yoga
practice - yoga for children is proving to have endless
benefits and becoming more and more popular.

After many years working as a children’s nursery
supervisor and being a yoga student most of my life I
decided to combine the two passions and have
recently qualified as a children’s yoga teacher,
following in the footsteps of my Mother, Carol
…Yogafit4you, I was encouraged from a very early
age.

I am so excited to announce that I will be offering yoga
sessions which will be divided into age groups: Starting
Wednesday 3rd August for 5 weeks.

11.00 SEN Children  2-5yrs
11.45 Pre School 3-5yrs
12.45 Key Stage 1 5-7yrs
13.45 Key Stage 2 7-11yrs

The key benefits of children practicing yoga are not
just the physical ones, like increased flexibility, strength
and improved balance, but yoga has also proved to
help reduce and manage stress and anxiety and
promote self-care and self-love and is being offered
more and more by schools and GPs.

The sessions will be 30 or 45mins minutes long, the
children are guided into postures through stories and
fun play, using visualization and mindful imagination.
Numbers will be limited for safety reasons and classes
fully insured and DBS checked.

For more information, or to book please get in touch.

Thank you,
Gabriella Brewer

AMBER’S ADVICE

In the hot summer months especially, you might be looking
for ways to keep your white or rose wine chilled for longer.
To keep your wine cool without watering it down freeze some grapes
and use them as ice cubes – plus, you can always eat them afterwards!
Extra tip: Frozen grapes or cherries on their own also make for a great

snack to cool you down during the warmer months.
