MINSTER TWINNING ASSOCIATION

Hello everyone

Great fun was had at our stalls at the Minster Show with the

theme of ‘Around the World’. Obviously it was deemed

appropriate to dress as French. A few of us joined the

carnival and won 1st prize in the best dressed group section.

Thanks to the Minster Show committee for organising

another successful show.

We would like to thank, as always, everybody who helped

to make our quiz in July, a very successful one – The RBL,

the bar staff, the caterer, our quizmaster, the committee

who helped it all to run smoothly and of course all the

quizzers. It was a packed hall and as such was bustling, but

enjoyed by everyone, so much so that we have had bookings

for the next one. Our winning team was led by Pete and

Dave, called Mark’s team in honour of one of their regular

players who sadly passed with covid. That was a fitting

tribute to him, so well done that team.

The next quiz has had some obstacles with dates but is now

fixed for 15 October at the RBL, so apologies to everyone

for uncontrollable changes. Those that booked for an earlier

date have been informed. Call Carol on 07745 683 466 if

you are interested in putting in a team of up to 8 people.

Another organisations event that we supported was the

Bowl’s Club Open Day, which was for non-club members

only. We won 2 out of 3 of our knock-out games, and

ACOL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY considering 3 of the team (photo below) had never

guaranteed. Members are free, non-members £3. team we played and we only lost by 5-4 to them. Next year

On Saturday 24th September it is Acol Horticultural – watch out for new winners!!!

Society’s Autumn Show. We will welcome entries from

members and non-members for any of the classes in

vegetables, flowers, cooking, floral art and art and crafts.

There are also classes for children. For details contact the

phone number below. The show is held in the marquee

behind the village hall. There is parking on site but as it is

a private garden, please show respect. The Show opens

to the public at 2.30pm and only costs £1, it also

incorporates the Thanet Beekeepers’ Association annual

Honey Show. Separate from the flower show it will display

exhibits of various types of honey and bee related items

and there will be beekeepers there to answer any questions.

Acol Horticultural Society welcomes new members and

visitors to its monthly meetings, flower shows and social

events. We have monthly meetings on the first Tuesday

of every month except January, the venue is Acol Village

Hall and meetings start at 7.30pm unless advised

otherwise.

for many reasons.
I will continue to lead Village Voices choir as it is a passion of mine and as

wonderful time was had by all.
I will also continue to see some of you through my new venture, Midlife

You may also spot me at times visiting the friends that I have made over
the years in the village.
Thank you very much,
