Our May meeting was our annual discussion and voting on the Dog Grooming Service
NFWI’s resolution. This year the resolution was Women and All Breeds Welcome
Girls with ASD & ADHD - under-identified, under-diagnosed,
misdiagnosed, under-supported Kind Professional Service

Women and girls presenting with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are going undiagnosed. The NFWI calls on Professionally Trained
the government and funding bodies to fund research into the female presentation
of ASD and ADHD, and for action to be taken to improve the diagnosis process for Gemma & Sandie
women and girls, to ensure that they are equipped to better manage these 69 High Street, Minster, CT12 4AB

raise awareness within their WIs of the issues facing women and girls with ASD 01843 825 841

Jan gave a presentation on the resolution and this was followed by discussion and
a question and answer session.

We had also decided to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so members dressed
in red, white and blue, tiaras and homemade fascinators, had drinks and nibbles,
played Jubilee bingo and sang ‘God save the Queen’. And each member was given
a commemorative mug.

MINSTER TWINNING ASSOCIATION REPORT

Having recently returned from Armbouts-Cappel for
the weekend 7-8 May, primarily to discuss the future
exchanges of the Association, we’re thrilled to say that
there is renewed enthusiasm on both sides of the
Channel. Many dates were discussed. As this was a
reunion meeting, it was a special occasion and our
friends in Armbouts-Cappel made it very special. We
were entertained all weekend by our wonderful hosts.

On arrival, we were overpowered by kind greetings
from them all as they were eager to meet us after 2
years with only email contact. Moving and positive
speeches were presented at a reception in the Mairie,
by Daniel Decherf, the Mayor’s Assistant and Malcom
Bubb, the Chairman from Minster, followed by a
formal meeting to discuss the future events on both
sides of the ‘pond’!

After this meeting, we went on to their library, where our long awaited exchange
of books took place. These were welcomed by both Associations. Minster Primary
School will be the recipients of the French books at
a time to be arranged.

We were then taken over to Dunkirk for a visit to
the Operation Dynamo Museum, which proved to
be very interesting. By this time we were ready for
a short relaxation at the hotel, before being treated
to a wonderful meal, where we all mixed freely in the
evening. As a thank you for their hospitality, the
French were presented with bottles of English
Sparkling wine.
On Sunday 8 May (VE Day) we met at the
monument for the more sombre of reasons, of
honouring those who died in the war. A wreath was
laid by Malcolm.
Another reception followed a parade around the
village and we topped up on what was becoming an
overdose of champagne! But no one complained!!
A barbeque ensued, thanks to Jean Noel and
between courses we were able to see a lesser
equivalent of the Tour de France from the bridge
nearby. A cyclist’s jersey was presented to the Association as a souvenir reminder of

the Reunion weekend.
At this point, it was time for our departure with promises of meeting

very soon.
A few more photos can be seen on our Facebook Page:

MAY WE TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK EVERYONE IN

ARMBOUTS CAPPEL FOR THEIR HOSPITALITY FOR THIS WEEKEND.
A MEMORABLE REUNION AFTER THE PANDEMIC.

There is a change of plans for our fundraising quiz. Please note that the
planned quiz on 25 June coincides with our next trip to France for a
weekend of music and as such we have had to change the date for the
quiz to 30 July. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

We hope you enjoy the planned events in Minster for the Jubilee
weekend. Unfortunately, the French are unable to join us on 3rd June for
the Community Picnic, but we will see them on the 4th. There is nothing
official planned for that day here in the village, but a full programme has
been prepared for their weekend.

Free local delivery I also wanted to update you on Village Voices!! Our choir goes
from strength to strength and we continue to sing with gusto and
have lots of laughs on a Wednesday night. We also enjoy the odd
social gathering which are always lots of fun. We were recently asked
to perform in Sandwich at their 1940s weekend. We turned out in
force, dressed in our 40s attire and sang our wartime medley on the
Quay and again in the Market Square. The sun was shining and the
audience were appreciative. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
We are looking forward to be singing at the lighting of the Jubilee
Beacon and again at the Jubilee Picnic. We look forward to seeing
you all there!
