▪ Water is the MOST important
▪ If animals and humans do not have enough, they can become
dehydrated
▪ Dehydration harms the body
▪ Three types of animals:
▪ Carnivores- eat meat
▪ Examples: Lion,Wolf, Fox
▪ Herbivores- eat plants
▪ Examples: Rabbits, Deer
▪ Omnivores- eat both meat and plants
▪ Examples: Humans, Bears, Sloths
▪ Food provides energy for animals
▪ The air animals and humans breathe is called oxygen
▪ Destroys harmful bacteria in an animal’s body
▪ Land animals get oxygen by inhaling their lungs
▪ Examples: Birds, Reptiles, and Mammals
▪ Marine animals get oxygen from water by using their gills
▪ Examples: Octopus, Shark, and Fish
▪ Each animal needs a place to live
▪ Also known as a habitat
▪ A place where it can…
▪ Find food, water, and oxygen
▪ Protect animals from predators
▪ Raise its young
▪ Examples: Forests, Deserts, Oceans
▪ Cold-blooded animals need to live in cooler temperatures
▪ They take on the temperature of their habitat
▪ Examples: Reptiles, Amphibians
▪ Warm-blooded animals need to live in warmer temperatures
▪ They can regulate their own body temperature
▪ Examples: Mammals
▪ Some animals hibernate during the winter to avoid cold temperatures
▪ It allows animals to live off stored body fat
▪ Examples: Bears, Gophers, Bats
▪Without these necessities, it is harmful to an
animal’s survival, growth, and development
▪ Don’t forget temperature!!!
▪ Grow big and strong!
▪ Brain can grow!
▪ Happy and healthy life!
