• Consider getting a COVID Booster Shot and DO NOT Forget to get your Flu
Vaccine before the deadline. According to Lynnette Brammer, a flu epidemiologist
and team lead for domestic surveillance in CDC's influenza division, the flu positivity
rate for the week ending Oct. 14 was 3% nationwide, but 5% in the South-Central
region and over 10% in the Southeast. Currently, most flu cases have been caused by
influenza A, specifically the H3N2 strain, which has been known to cause more
severe illness. "Not everybody got flu vaccinated last year, and many people did not
get the flu," said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky due to the COVID/Mask
Wearing Protocols. Not near an MTF, find your vaccine here:

Travel – Quick Tips & Tricks

Did you know that you should snap a photo of your luggage and bag tag before it heads
off onto the carousel? “Airlines are required to compensate passengers if their bags are
damaged, delayed, or lost,” the Department of Transportation's website reads. “Airlines
are required to compensate passengers for reasonable, verifiable, and actual incidental
expenses that they may incur while their bags are delayed — subject to the maximum
liability limits.”
And FYI, those “liability limits” are $3,800 for domestic delays and $1,780 for
international. This money can be used to cover the cost of items needed during a trip,
like new clothing, toiletries, or other necessary goods. If you do go out and purchase
items while your bag is delayed and before you are granted compensation by the airline,
make sure to hold onto the receipts to help with your claim later.

Official Passports

All PHERST Officers will be required to apply for and acquire an “Official” Government Passport.
The application process will require you to complete the following applications:

 The DS-82 is for those that currently hold a tourist passport or are renewing their official,
 The DS-11 is for those that do not currently hold ANY passport, or their most recent

passport is more than 15 years expired (please note that a DS-11 requires in-person
authorization).

All official passports are stored at CCHQ when not in use. You will be provided the
passport at least 24 hours prior to traveling. Please complete the document and get your
passport picture (at your own cost). Then send an email to me and I will provide you
with a UPS Package w/ tracking for CCHQ processing.
