Wedding Ceremony Layouts

Decide what’s right for you!

Traditional Layout

It’s important to think how you want the wedding party to stand on the beach. Above is a
traditional layout in a church, which depends on the number of people who will stand up with you at
your wedding. You may just have the two of you on the beach with an Internet Streaming set up so
everyone at home can watch the wedding without being on Island. You may have three bridesmaids
and three groomsmen, with a couple of children, talk to our Wedding Planner about the layout you
want for the beach.

Remember that anyone not in the wedding party has to stand a little further back so we can get
great photos of everything as it happens. You won’t be too happy if there are a lot of photos of the
back of people's heads.

Professional Layout

If the Groom is not allowed to see the Bride's dress
before the Wedding, then everybody but the Bride and
her father (or other person) should be last to walk down
to the beach where the wedding will take place. One of
our staff will take the main group down and set them up
in a manner that allows the Bride to walk through the
guests towards the Groom who will be standing with the
minister on the beach. Another staff member will bring
the Bride and her escort down to the beach a few minutes
later.

The photographer and videographer will move
locations so have all guests ensure they are not blocking
their direct line of sight view of the two of you getting
married, you are the most important people on the beach

Beach Layout

On the beach, your wedding group may look
something like this, with a musician, a lot of guests, a
videographer and a photographer, as well as the wedding
party. It’s important we make sure all photographers
and videographers can get clear line of sight to what is
happening at all times.

discuss your plans with Mike at Kaua’i Island Weddings,

will be standing. Please also remember that the sound of
the waves can often be louder than people speaking so if
you want people to hear everything being said, they may

Three Steps To Getting
Married in Hawaii

If you have any questions, we are just a ring away,

1. Apply for the license online
2. Make appointment with a wedding license agent on Maui to verify your identity and

issue your legal wedding license
3. Bring your wedding license to your beach ceremony

Step One - Wedding License
The Bride & Groom need to obtain the wedding license prior to their wedding and bring it with

them to the beach. This will cost you $65 and is payable on the Hawaii State website by credit card.
Please fill in the marriage license application online prior to your Maui License appointment and bring
a printed copy for your marriage license agent. Most people do this a month or two before their
wedding – mark your calendar!
How to apply for a wedding license:

The Bride and Groom must apply for their Wedding License online here: https://emrs.ehawaii.
gov/emrs/public/home.html

Once online, click on the "Applicants" tab and select "Apply License" and fill in the form for either
a marriage (traditional marriage) or for a civil union, pay the fee and write down the code number
generated by the website,which will be used by the Maui Wedding License Agent to locate your file.

The Bride and Groom must also appear together in person before a wedding license agent once
they arrive in Maui, prior to the actual wedding ceremony, in order to validate the marriage license
application in the agent's presence.

Step Two - Meeting with the Wedding License Agent
You’ll need to make an appointment with a Maui wedding license agent prior to your wedding

to verify your identity and issue the legal wedding license. Bring this license with you to the beach

Once the Maui agent has issued your legal license, it is valid for 30 days anywhere in the State of
Hawaii – which means you must get married within 30 days or the license will expire.

Step Three - Getting Married!

Meet us at the beach to get married! After the wedding ceremony the Bride and Groom, and
our licensed officiant will sign all the required paperwork. Maui Boutique Weddings will then file
your wedding license with the State of Hawaii to make your marriage legal.

Don't forget to bring your wedding license. We will provide everything else you need for your
ceremony. Your wedding team of minister, photographer, videographer and musician will all ensure
your ceremony is perfect.

Based on the wedding package you choose, allocate 1-2 hours for your wedding. Your actual
wedding ceremony will take 20-25 minutes.

Once the wedding ceremony is completed and the documentation signed, a temporary wedding
license can be printed from the State of Hawaii website (where you made your online application -
Step 1 above) from beneath the tab "Check Status" under "Applicants".

Your official legal marriage certificate will be mailed to you directly from the State of Hawaii.
These three steps are essential for your marriage to be legal. We will help you with every step to
ensure everything is completed accurately and your ceremony goes off without any complications.

The Hawaiian government requires beach
use permits for all weddings performed on
beaches. These permits must be applied for
by a wedding officiant who is licensed in
the State of Hawaii. The Bride and Groom
are not allowed to obtain a beach permit
themselves.

All beach use permits must be made out
for the specific date and time of the event,
which must not exceed 2 hours.

Hawaii also requires proper insurance
coverage of all wedding vendors such as
photographers and musicians. This is a
cumbersome process, which, if not handled
correctly, can result in a $5,000 government
fine.

the beach use permit for your wedding. We
will also take care of all required insurance
