PLANNING
WRITTEN BY MUHAMMAD NAQIUDDIN BIN MOHD ROBI
Planning is choosing beforehand to what to do in the future. Thinking
before doing. The project plan specifies the budget, scope, and
schedule. It specifies the activities and tasks necessary, as well as the
resources required, from employees to equipment to financing. For this
movie, there are a few scene that show the planning aspect in project
management.
SCENE 1
This is the first day of new school for 20:15
Riley, Joy was up late night before to
figure out a new plan to keep Riley
happy at school. Joy orders the extra
daydream from train of thought in case
there are full of boring at new school.
Joy also planned every move of other emotion such as Fear list of all
possible negative outcomes, Disgust to making sure that Riley stands
out and blend in with others and Sadness need to stay in Circle of
Sadness to make sure Sadness not interrupt the day.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR ROLES
BASED ON THE SCENE
Joy planning everything to keep Riley happy in the
first day of new school. She was responsible to
everything including every move of the others
emotion. In order to make Riley happy, Joy stay up
late to figure out the new plan.

SCENE 2
29:13 When Joy and Sadness were not in
headquarters, the other emotion
cannot make Riley act usual and make
Riley angry to her dad. The emotion
inside Dad lead by Anger has planning
to take their situation into force

which is what they planned before if the hard situation happen as
their first solution. But Riley keeps angry and make the emotion

situation to shut Riley down and ask her to go to her room.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR ROLES
BASED ON THE SCENE
Dad’s emotion is lead by Anger. Anger has the
characteristic of a good leader because he can make
the right decisions of planning in a short time. He plans
not to use the “defcon 2” at the first place because it is
not necessary for it until Riley keeps angry at him and
making the Anger’s Dad take the option to use the
“defcon 2” in that situation.

Application of Planning
in Project Management
PROJECT SCHEDULE
DEVELOPMENT
It identifies and arranges entire project tasks into a sequence of events
that results in the creation of the project management plan, which is
then implemented in the project. In the scheduling process, a number of
inputs and tools are employed, all of which are intended to assist to help
in better understanding the resources, restrictions, and risk exposures.
The end outcome is a plan that connects activities in the most effective
manner possible in order to accomplish the project efficiently.
STRATEGIC QUALITY
PLANNING
The initial phase of the process is environmental research, during which
planners must be aware of the significant events that their organization
encounters in terms of the economic environment, competitors, and
clients. After that, planners must attempt to predict such possibilities
outcome. Then, after considering the various possibilities, planners must
choose the best course of action for achieving objectives. They must
devise the necessary measures and ensure that the plans are
implemented properly (Buma, 2021).
5
BENEFITS OF PLANNING
CLEAR According to James (2021), knowing what to
OBJECTIVE achieve improves the chances of really doing it.
However, without a defined goal from the
beginning, project scope will impact negatively on
the project. The team won't know when the projects
are completed if they don't know what they're
working on. The team will be able to concentrate
on the objectives and the final objective if they
plan ahead.
A thorough inspection of all possible risk variables RISK
is part of thorough project planning. There's no ASSESSMENT
question that difficulties may develop throughout
the course of a project, but these risks can be
monitored and controlled with the help of a risk
assessment. Knowing them ahead of schedule
helps to create a contingency plan to prevent
problems like resource shortages, budget
reallocation, and scope changes.
RESOURCE A well-planned project demonstrates to the team
ALLOCATION which resources will be required to complete it. A
plan also allows project managers to keep track of
which resources have been assigned, preventing
over-allocation. Overallocation causes initiatives to
run out of resources before they are completed.
When resources run out, most undertakings come
to a halt and are ultimately abandoned. By
preparing ahead of time and ensuring that the
resources need are available to keep not
overbudget or discontinued (James, 2021).

ORGANIZING
WRITTEN BY AHMAD FARITH BIN AHMAD SANUSI
Organizing is also one of the most important aspects in project
management. A well-organized project can avoid a lot of problems while
an unorganized project could lead to a lot of problems to arise which could
lead to project delay. In this movie, there are a few scenes that clearly
shows the aspect of organizing.
SCENE RELATED SCENE 1
TO THE ASPECT
The first organizing aspect that can be seen
4:50 in the movie is how the Core Memories are
organized and kept in a special place.
These memories are the most important
and precious memories of Riley from the
moment she was born up until the present
days. The memories are automatically
produced every day and core memories
are only produced when something
important happens. These core memories
will contribute to different aspects of Riley’s
personality. Joy is always aware and alert
each time new memory arrives. When a
special memory arrived, she will
immediately store it in the special place.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
For this scene, Joy is in charge of organizing the Core Memories. Each time
a Core Memory is produced, Joy will quickly go to take a look at it and after
that, she will place it in a special place that is filled with other Core
Memories. Without Joy, the Core Memories could have been misplaced and
it could lead Riley to have a different personality or worse, no personality.
7
SCENE RELATED SCENE 2
TO THE ASPECT
6:45 The third organizing aspect
can be seen when all of the
Mind Workers work together to
organize Riley’s memories
when she went to sleep. Every
day, new memories will be
made and every night, all of
the memories will be sent to
the place where long-term
memories are stored. Before it
is stored, it will be organized thoroughly by the Mind Workers. In that place,
all of Riley’s memories from when she was born until present days are
stored. Those memories include bad, and good memories. As the time flies
by, the older memories became forget
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
For this scene, all of the Mind Workers are involved. With Joy as the head
of organizing the memories, all of the Emotion Workers take note of Riley’s
memories for that day and organize it accordingly. After that, they will
send the memories to a place where long-term memories are stored.
Without them, Riley’s memories will disorganized, and her mind will be in a
chaotic state.
8
APPLICATION OF ORGANIZING
IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Coordination of Activities and Resources
Organization in project management is the structuring, organization and
configuration as well as project process according to the plan (InLoox,
2018). A well-organized plan from the organizer can provides the teamwork
of the participants proceed as efficient as possible according to the
inserted rules, standards and values of the project. The roles and
responsibilities of each participant are given according to the capabilities
of that participant. A good project manager will assess everyone’s
capabilities and give task best suited for them.
In scene 2, Joy is pretty much in charge of taking care of everything inside
Riley’s mind. She always manages other Mind Worker’s task and
responsibilities according to each situation Riley is facing.
Well-Organized Item
Organizing at the organisational level entails deciding how to best
departmentalize, or cluster, jobs into departments in order to effectively
coordinate effort. Departmentalization can be accomplished in a variety of
ways, such as by function, product, geography, or customer (Lumen
Learning, 2012). By organizing each item into a category of its own and
providing a place to store it, the process of work will become smooth. This
is because the items are easy to find and can save time especially if we
are in a rush. Item that are unorganized can cause it to be misplaced
which could cause few problems to arise.
In scene 1, we can see that all of the memories are well-organized.
Important memories or Core Memories are separated from other
memories. They are kept in a special place while other memories are kept
in the long-term memory section.
9
BENEFITS OF
ORGANIZING
INCREASE A well-organized work reuslts in less time
PRODUCTIVITY correcting errors, looking for information, and
cleaning up any clutter. The time saved translates
into more time for productive activities and more
resources for other projects, resulting in more
money. Organizing information will make it easier
for employees to share any information with one
another, resulting in better teamwork.
Optimal utilisation of a firm's available human and GOOD
material resources is made possible through the RESOURCE
medium of organisation. Work is assigned to each MANAGEMENT
individual based on his or her ability and capacity,
and conditions are set up to allow him to use his or
her abilities to the fullest extent possible.
STRESS A well-organized information culture can produce

MONITORING AND
CONTROLLING
WRITTEN BY MOHAMAD LUQMAN HAKIM BIN MOHD ADNAN ALI
The most essential aspect in the project management is monitoring and
controlling since it allows us to effectively identify where the project stands.
According to this movie, there are two scenes that can be found which
related to the monitoring and controlling aspect.
SCENE 1
1:42 At the beginning of the story,
Riley's Headquarters are initially
empty. However, a light appear to
emerge from the darkness. This
light transforms into a humanoid
figure with wearing a lime
sundress, who has gold skin, blue
eyes and blue hair.
Following that, Joy, moves to the opposite side of Headquarters,
where there is a console with a button on it, next to a screen
showing Riley's point of view, refer as a Consciousness Screen.
Out of curiosity, Joy presses the button, and that makes Riley
giggle. Then, her father says that she is a "bundle of joy".
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
Based on the scene's explanation above, Joy
significantly control Joy actions and thoughts
when she presses the button. Joy claims to
understand what's going on in Riley's mind since
Joy stays in there. Literally. Joy notices what Riley
notices. So, every decision that decide by Joy

While Riley sleeps, Joy is on
Dream Duty, keeping an eye on
her dreams. Riley's nightmares
aren't really nice, consisting of
creepy old houses and organic
broccoli pizza.
Riley's dream stream looks to be controlled by some other
portion of Riley's brain that we haven't seen, so Joy calls an
audible and disconnects it. Then, she recalls a lovely childhood
memory of Riley as a small child skating on a frozen pond with
her parents. That's a lot better.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
When Riley finally falls asleep, Joy puts on a
happy dream of Riley ice skating with her
parents. Joy plays a significant role as she
needs to monitor and make sure Riley remain
calm and in good condition even during sleep.

COMMUNICATING
WRITTEN BY UNGKU NUR KHALIQAH BINTI UNGKU KAMARZAMAN
Human existence and survival, as well as the survival of an organization,
are dependent on communication. It is the way of making and sharing
ideas, information, points of view, facts, thoughts, and so on among
people to reach a mutual understanding. For this movie, Inside Out that
we have analyze that there is communication aspect of project
management found in this movie.
SCENE 1:
Mistaking Bing Bong's rocket ship for
48:36 junk, the Mind Workers bulldoze it down
the cliff into the Memory Dump. Bing
Bong is upset. He and Riley had big
dreams to go to the moon, and Bing Bong
says that the rocket was the only thing he
had left of her. While Bing Bong rants and
cries, Sadness listens and empathises. He
feels better after that. Joy is taken aback
by the entire exchange.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
Sadness also proves her importance to Bing Bong and Joy
when Bing Bong loses the handmade rocket ship, he
planned to use to take Riley to the moon one day. Bing
Bong feels better and can continue since Sadness shows
that she understands. He needs someone to listen and
understand at that moment, and that's exactly what she's
doing as her roles of being Sadness in this scene.
19
SCENE 2: 01:09:20
Joy takes the hockey memory ball that they
had mentioned on the train: Riley, her dad,
and her hockey buddies are all celebrating
around a big tree. She strokes the surface,
slightly rewinding it, and it turns blue. She
notices Riley sitting alone under a tree,
unhappy, and Joy recalls Sadness's words in
her thoughts again back on the train: "It was
the day the Prairie Dogs lost the big playoff
game. Riley missed the winning shot. She felt
awful. She wanted to quit." Joy realizes
Riley's parents and teammates were only
present in the good recollection because
Riley was sad. In other words, Riley's initial
sadness resulted in the joyful outcome.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
Back on the train when Sadness and Joy looks back at the ball
of Riley’s memories, Sadness just saying and telling the truth
and just being sad as that was her character in this movie and
tried to tell Joy about what Riley really feels at that time, but
Joy does not get what she meant. When all things happened,
Joy looks back at the memories of Riley and what Sadness said
back on the train makes she realizes that Riley's happiness in
that time was preceded by sadness.
After Joy thinks and process what Sadness meant when she
said back on the train, Joy's determination to reach
headquarters is started again. She been realized that what
Sadness said before was true. Joy is the one who has to do
some work. She's the one who has to see that, despite being a
total buzzkill, Sadness is an important member of the team
who will only become more important as Riley grows older and
her feelings get more complicated.
20
01:21:34 SCENE 3:
Riley begins to cry in front of her parents.
She confesses that she misses home in
Minnesota, as well as her friends and
teammates. She understands that her
parents expect her to be happy, but she
isn't, and she asks them not to be angry with
her. Mom and Dad are not angry. In reality,
they, too, miss Minnesota. Just then, a new
Core Memory is created. The multicoloured
memory goes through HQ and creates a new
Family Island.
CHARACTERS AND THEIR
ROLES BASED ON THE SCENE
Riley finally speaks up and tries to communicate what she
feels by telling her parent that she misses her old home in
Minnesota. When she did not say what she feels to her parent,
they might not understand. Riley has come one step closer to
adulthood by opening the lines of communication and sharing
what is upsetting her.
When Riley speaks up, Riley's parent listened well
what she is going to say and understands her. As a
parent, they must know what their child really feels
and tried assuring them to open up their feelings by
communicating with them. This shared gripe and
sorrow session with them, and Riley shows that they
may be able to maintain a line of communication open
in the future, the next time Riley is in a dilemma.

that time. Sadness just listens and Bing Bong feels so much better and control what

As in this movie shown in Scene 2 when Joy finally realizes Riley's initial sadness

explaining what Riley really feels that time because every people opinion also
