A Tribute to Rebbetzin Rosenblatt We first got to know Rebbetzin Trani Rosenblatt when the yeshiva was in Briarwood. Somehow she always made us feel welcome and at home, introducing us to people and making us and each person feel choshuv and needed. Every Shabbos there was a homemade hot Kiddush, which she prepared and was brought over every Erev Shabbos from the Rosenblatt home in Kew Gardens. They made it seem simple that they would walk back and forth from Kew Gardens to Briarwood every Shabbos. We were invited to join the Rav and Rebbetzin for many meals in the shul and in their home on Shabbosim and holidays. Trani always cooked for a crowd, and it was a learning experience just to observe how she prepared for and hosted so many people on a regular basis. Many yeshivas and shuls have fund raising events that invariably offer food at the events. Usually these are catered affairs. For years, when Yeshiva Kesser Torah would have their fundraising breakfast, Trani was the caterer with the help of some ladies from the yeshiva and family members. Somehow Trani managed to pull together beautifully set tables with abundant and elegantly arranged food platters, arranged in the Yeshiva by herself and the ladies on a shoestring budget. Although food preparation was Trani’s department, more important than that was and is her warmth and interest in all the people she encounters. Everyone is welcomed like family, and if they need guidance to navigate life’s challenges, they know that Trani is the right address. Our brocha to Trani is that she should be able to continue to share her warmth and life experience with all those who need it, and she should continue to shep nachas from her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren Ad Meah V’esrim.
