Sunday Morning Learning with Rabbi Rapp

This past week the students and parents had the amazing opportunity to listen to Rabbi Rapp, Rosh Yeshiva
at Yeshiva University and YCQ graduate! Since it was Super Bowl Sunday, Rabbi Rapp spoke to the
students about the Halachik ramifications of playing contact sports. Chacham Ovadia Yosef tz”l says that if
you are making a parnasa from it then it is permissible to participate in contact sports, as long as the
percentages of safety are in your favor, and you do not have the intent of causing physical harm. Rav
Herschel Schachter holds that that even if you are not making parnasa from the contact sport, if the chances
are that the person will probably not have physical harm then the contact sport is permissible.

“Charlotte’s Web”

This past Tuesday, the kindergarten went on a trip to Queensborough College to see a
production of “Charlotte’s Web”. The students watched the childhood book unfold
before them. Thank you to all the chaperones that accompanied this fun and educational
trip!

Tu B’Shevat Shuk

In honor of Tu B’Shevat, the sixth grade girls designed a simulated Israeli shuk in the
multi-purpose room for the elementary school. Upon entering, the students handed
in their passports and received tickets to purchase items in the shuk. This was a
wonderful hands-on learning experience for our students as they became familiar with
Israeli culture. Special thanks to Morah Schussheim for all of her hard work in
creating the shuk.
