Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky Comes to Speak at YCQ
Rabbi Orlofsky, a world renowned speaker, came to speak to the JHS students of YCQ last
week. He spoke about the beauty of being Yeshiva students. What an honor it is for our
students to be able to live out our grandparents dream of being in a frum environment.
Rabbi Orlofsky told many stories about peoples’ struggle of their Jewish identity, and how
they yearned to learn! We are such a small number, however, we must try to make the
biggest influence on the world in the most positive way. Special thanks to Rabbi Yaniv
Maerov for bringing us Rabbi Orlofsky!
YCQ Torah Bowl By: Avital Basalel 8g2
The first meet of the torah bowl season took place on Monday November 14th at YCQ. We
competed against four very competitive schools, Flatbush, MDS, Ramaz, and Shulamith
Brooklyn. The boys and girls both won two games!!! Special thanks to the whole team and the
amazing coaches Rabbi Rosenfelt and Ms. Rosenblum! We can’t wait for the rest of this exciting
season!
Bat Mitzvah Workshop
Last Wednesday the sixth grade girls and their mothers shared a special evening together
in honor of the girls becoming Bnot Mitzvah. The program began with a Dvar Torah
from Rabbi Landsman, followed by an inspiring description of the entire Bat Mitzvah
year from Morah Hadas Fried. Mrs. Golubtchik then spoke about the “3 P’s” of a Bat
Mitvah (preparation, procedure and party). Mrs. Marcy Davidovics, led a “Values
Clarification Session” with mothers and daughters. Morah Elana Banilivy, YCQ dance
instructor, led the girls and their mothers in simcha dancing. Everyone partook in a
delicious dinner catered by “Carlos and Gabby’s”. It was a most beautiful and
memorable evening.
Salute to Our Veterans
Last week Ms. Laffer's classes learned about Veteran's Day. To honor the men and women who served in
our armed services, Class 212 made acros c poems and patrio c banners on Friday. The class also
shared stories about family members who were or are veterans and Ms. Laffer even brought in pictures
of her grandfathers who served in
World War Two. Her paternal
grandfather Hy served in the U.S.
Army and her maternal grandfather
Alex served in the U.S. Navy. Mr.
Schneider, Julian's father from Class
212 spoke to our class. He was an
officer and is a combat veteran of
the U.S army. It was such an honor
having him come visit. Although we
celebrate Veteran’s Day every year
on November 11th, we should
always remember to honor our
veterans every day!
Our Healthy & Wise program is off to a great start!
The nursery and kindergarten students learned about eating fruits and vegetables in all the colors of the
rainbow so we can get all the vitamins we need. They also showed off some exercise moves so their
muscles can become bigger and stronger. The first graders had the opportunity to decorate our bulletin
board with caterpillar mobiles from the book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Our second
graders made healthy food picnic baskets to show the healthy snacks we are allowed to bring to YCQ,
such as fruits and vegetables, rice cakes, yogurt, and cheese. We played Health & Nutrition Bingo, with
the third grade learning to remember that being healthy is not only about eating right, it’s about
exercising, sleeping, and washing our hands too.
Kindergarten Open House A Huge Success
This past Sunday YCQ had an extremely successful Kindergarten Open house. It was a ended by over a

the adults enjoyed a viewing of last years’ Dinner slideshow presenta on and heard from Dr. Joel Wein, as well as YCQ students,
Savi Kessler and Jeremy Haviv, Sharon Korn, Rabbi Landsman and YCQ PTO president Mrs. Samantha Kramer and vice president
Mrs. Sara Gherman The children par cipated in music, gym, and visits to the Kindergarten classrooms where they made cra
projects. Numerous people helped make this day such a success. Thank you to Morah Rivky Huff, Morah Selma Go reid, Morah

appointments, and the more likely you will be able to customize a convenient schedule for yourself.
Before beginning the process please check the following schedule of conference dates and times in order to know when the
teachers you would like to see will be available:
