Second Grade Chumash Presentation

Class 2-205 and 2-206 finally received their Chumashim on Sunday, December 4th, 2016! For months
they had been preparing for this momentous day. They learned about the Chumash, how to find the
Psukim, and how to read and understand them. They wanted to share all that they do and learn with
their parents and families. They put on a beautiful show about the creation of the world. After a
wonderful and exciting show, each student received their very own Chumash with his or her name
engraved on it. The class learned the first ten Psukim together in front of their families and friends,
and afterward enjoyed some treats and a cake. Mazel tov to all the second graders! It is so inspiring to
see their love for Torah! Many thanks to Morah Reut, Morah Sophia, Morah Tali, Rabbi Hamel, Mr.
Weinstock, Morah Maxine, Rabbi Ribalt and parent representatives for making this day so memorable!

Kindergarten trip to the Jewish Children’s Museum

The kindergarten went to the Jewish Children’s Museum where they not only enjoyed the exhibits, but
participated in an oil making workshop. The student learnt so much and had such a great time.

JHS Boys Shabbaton

This past Shabbat, Parshat Chayei Sarah, the JHS boys enjoyed a memorable and meaningful Shabbat together at
the Raleigh Hotel. On Friday afternoon the students had fun playing outdoor sports and swimming. Shabbat
began with a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat, a delicious dinner and divrei Torah. After learning groups, an oneg
Shabbat, and a battle of the grades competition, everyone retired to their rooms for the night. On Shabbat
morning after Shacharit, everyone participated in a Torah sports trivia competition. During lunch, students
enjoyed more delicious food and divrei Torah. The Rebbeim participated in games with their students. At seudah
shlishit there was beautiful singing and Divrei Torah. Havdallah was filled with much ruach, and the fun
continued after Shabbat at Sport Time USA. The students had a wonderful Shabbat where they built lasting
relationships and memories with their Rebbeim and peers. The Schnitzel Boys really enhanced the ruach over
Shabbat. Thank you to all of the Rebbeim and chaperones for making this Shabbaton so special!

Prevent Bullying Promote Kindness
This past Tuesday, the Junior High School was part of a very moving and serious assembly. Each grade
had a separate presentation on how we can continue to keep the Junior High School's culture of respect
and tolerance. Rabbi Landsman began each session with words of Torah connecting to this important
topic of treating each other with kindness. Mrs. Maisel interacted with the students through a Prezi and
shared that she is in the process of making YCQ a "No Place For Hate School" through the Anti
Defamation League. Then, Mrs. Golubtchik ended the program with a touching true story of how one
single random of act of kindness saved another boy's life. We are very proud of the JHS students and
faculty as we continue to promote kindness. The Great Kindness Challenge has begun! Get "caught"
doing something kind and you will receive our new purple kindness cards which are equal to FIVE star
cards.
