Rabbi Landsman
Candle Lighting:
6:41 One of the main questions that all of the commentators on this
Havdallah: 7:43 week's parsha raise is why the Torah again discusses the

Sun., March 15 prohibitions of Shabbat. The Torah has done so a number of times in
5th-8th Parent the previous parshiyot of Shemot so one might question this
Child Learning seemingly unwarranted repetition. One of the ideas presented in
9-11:30
their comments is that we do not find that at the time of creation the

Tuesday March 17 Torah sanctified any given place or location on the face of the earth.
Science Fair The entire idea of the uniqueness of the Land of Israel does not

Friday -Shabbat appears as a promise of a homeland to Avraham's descendants
March 20-21 without any mention of holiness or sanctification.
8th Grade Yachad Holiness only appears regarding a place and location in the story of
Shabbaton our father Yaakov and his heavenly dream at Beit El. However,
Sunday March 22 already in the first section of the Torah, in the story of creation itself,

we read that HaShem sanctified time. "Therefore did the HaShem

Child Learning bless the seventh day and sanctify it.” Time is the holiest of all
factors in human life. It is the one thing that since creation has been
9-11:30 blessed, sanctified and made very special. It is no wonder therefore

Tuesday April 2 that the holiness of the Sabbat is emphasized over and over again
in the Torah. Rabbi Wein explains that in general human behavior

Yom HaShoah a tangible place of worship, a holiness of space and locality,
something solid that can represent to them the invisible and eternal.

Mitzvah! Shabbat Shalom!

Hakarat Hatov Letters To Israel!
Wow! The children in First Grade did an amazing Purim Mitzvah! The children wrote letters to
Chayalim in the Israeli army, and the letters were delivered on Purim to the Chayalim! A special
thank you goes to Mrs. Stiefel, for giving us the opportunity to do this amazing Mitzvah! Attached
is a picture, and a letter that a soldier wrote back.

Dear First Graders,
Thank you so much for your terrific letters of support. It means a lot to
us to know that children in America are thinking about us. My friends
and I are starting a three month long platoon commanders course this
week. We will be working very hard, marching many kilometers a day
as well as learning how to navigate (and also a lot of sit ups and push
ups and running) Again, thanks so much for your good wishes.

Shushan Purim Carnival

On Shushan Purim all of the YCQ students adorned in their Purim costumes,
enjoyed a day of games, obstacle courses, popcorn and cotton candy. This
year we had DJ Eli entertain us as we jumped on the PA sponsored bounce
houses that were brought in for our yearly event. With the prize tickets
earned, the children entered a drawing for some really cool prizes. The
eighth graders were hard at work all day making sure the kids all had an
amazing time. Some of the costumes were really creative and many teachers
dressed up, as well as all of the administration.
